00:00Being the first in my family to get a college education means breaking boundaries.
00:05My name is Heather Marrero and I'm a software engineer at JPMorgan Chase.
00:09I was getting a degree in art and it didn't feel right.
00:12TechConnect was the right program for me because it was made to afford opportunities to people
00:18in non-computer science majors.
00:21I thought that you had to be a wizard at mathematics in order to be a software engineer.
00:26I felt like an engineer and I was just in the process of learning how to code.
00:30The creativity that I bring from my artistic background enables me to make creative solutions
00:35on the day to day.
00:36Your diverse background is not a weakness, it is a strength.
