00:00How can Florian Wurtz save his career? Even the most ardent supporter of the German midfielder
00:05is now beginning to turn. The £116m man was given some space to adapt, but that time is now
00:10running low. A player of his quality playing for Liverpool simply has to be doing more and things
00:16aren't improving. So what is the problem and how do we solve it? In Wurtz's defence, this Liverpool
00:20team is not really built for a number 10. The position is scarce in the Premier League. Many
00:24players who play there normally are either struggling or playing in a slightly altered
00:28attacking midfield slot to complement modern English football. The only exception really
00:33is Ryan Shirky, who has a formidable base behind him, true flying wingers alongside him and a demon
00:39striker in front of him. Wurtz doesn't have any of that at Liverpool right now. So the first option,
00:44build a team that suits Wurtz. But why would Liverpool do that for a player who has shown
00:48little to no promise in the team? Maybe Wurtz himself needs a position change. It's not unheard
00:53of for players like him to shift to a wide position and the left 10 spot is one that Wurtz
00:57is familiar
00:58with. But Liverpool just spent £100 million on a left winger and their best attacker this season
01:02is also a left winger. The spot is very much taken. Does he need to leave altogether? Maybe
01:07English football just isn't for him. He wouldn't be the first Bundesliga player to flop on British
01:12shores in recent years, but who would take him? How much would Liverpool demand for him? And who
01:16would be willing to pay that for a player so bereft of confidence? It's hard to see what the future
01:21holds for Wurtz. Let's hope his talent doesn't go to waste.
