After centuries of rumor, Oak Island’s buried mystery finally begins to yield its secrets as Rick and Marty Lagina chase clues that have outlasted generations. From the famous money pit to man-made shafts, coded stone inscriptions, and artifacts pulled from deep underground, their search turns a childhood dream into a real-life treasure hunt in Nova Scotia.
The story follows the brothers from their early fascination with a Reader’s Digest article to their purchase of Oak Island and the launch of The Curse of Oak Island. Along the way, historians, archaeologists, and metal-detecting experts help uncover a Spanish coin, an axe, an oil lamp, a miner’s pick, a sword, a parchment fragment, a human bone, a metal cross, and a ring linked to older treasure-hunting theories. The mystery grows with every dig, especially as booby traps, flooding, and the legend of the Knights Templar point to something hidden beneath the surface.

00:00Welcome to a journey where dreams and mysteries intertwine, where the echoes of history whisper
00:05secrets just waiting to be uncovered. Imagine standing on the edge of an island shrouded in
00:10legend, its soil rich with tales of buried treasures and daring adventures. For two brothers,
00:17this was more than just a childhood fantasy. It became their life's pursuit. But as they would
00:22soon discover, unearthing the impossible came with a price far greater than they ever imagined.
00:29What lies beneath the surface? And who else is watching, waiting to claim what was once lost?
00:36Let's dive into the story together, because some legends are best told one layer at a time.
00:43It was a childhood dream coming true. The two brothers had waited their entire lives for this
00:49moment. A hush fell across the island, and for a second, they couldn't believe what was in their
00:55hands. The rumors and stories had all been true. Against all odds, they had found the impossible.
01:02They had proven everyone wrong and followed their hearts. What these two brothers didn't realize is
01:08that once the treasure was found, they were instantly in Dalen danger. Who would come forward
01:14to claim their gold and steal the spotlight from the Lagina? Before we start, smash the like button and

01:25stories. And the rumors of treasure on Oak Island have been around for centuries. History has given
01:31many opportunities and chances for hungry explorers to strike at rich, but no one has come close to these
01:38two brothers with one shared goal and the motivation with fierce determination. The treasure was so close,
01:45they could taste it. It had been a long challenging road, but everything had been worth it. Oak Island is
01:52located off the southern shore of Lunenburg County, Nova Scotia. For years, several teams have landed on the
01:59space in hopes of discovering the money pit. Explorers from across the world have come hoping to make their
02:07fortune. Two brothers from Michigan were about to find everything the island had hidden from everyone else. As their
02:15expedition continued, they found treasures greater than anticipated. The island wasn't going to let them
02:21take without a price. The cost of discovering the riches hidden beneath the surface was too sinister
02:27for most to stomach. Rick and Martin Martinlina loved spending their childhood playing make-believe.
02:34The brothers were only four years apart and grew up as best friends. They loved to create treasure hunts for
02:40each other in their backyard, but had no idea of the real treasure available in the world.
02:46One day, Rick found a copy of his parents' reader, Digest Magazine. The publication always had interesting
02:53articles, but one stood out specifically. It was an article written about the rumored buried treasure on Oak
03:00Island. Ears from that day on, the brothers' lives were never the same. The boys loved to create treasure
03:07treasure hunts in their backyards and their eyes grew wide, imagining the possibility of finding real
03:13treasure. And as the boys grew older, they never stopped talking about going to Oak Island. In 1779,
03:21three teenage best friends went exploring on the southern shore of Nova Scotia. The boys' names were John
03:28Smith, Anthony Vaugh, and Daniel McGinnis. They loved exploring the coast of their beautiful Canadian
03:35province and found an island they had never seen before. The boys docked their small boat and began
03:41to explore the small island. They found something unexplainable that left them with a big choice.
03:49When John, Anthony, and Daniel docked on the unknown island that they found, a huge depression in the
03:56ground that was circular in shape. It was located beside the beach where they had docked their boat.
04:02The boys were curious and began to dig into the soft dirt. After a short amount of time, they found
04:09something that made them drop their shovels and run back to their boat. As they sailed away, they swore
04:15to never reveal what they had found. When they got back to town, they began the rumors of Oak Island.
04:22The
04:22three young men had brought back no proof of their discovery, but the fear on their faces was enough to
04:28spread a fantastic tale. For years, it was spread by word of mouth until one company decided to investigate
04:37the cold hard facts. The Oh Now Company set out on an expedition to Oak Island in the early 1800s.
04:46They had started the company to track down the site the boys found and then find their fortunes. Most elite
04:53explorers landed on the beach and couldn't believe one detail the three men had left out of their
04:59original adventure. While the Onslow Company began to set up the area for their extraction,
05:04they uncovered a surprising detail. Many they found the space the boys had previously dug up and noticed
05:11that there was a separate dig site. The Ienow Company found a separate hole that led to man-made
05:17shafts underground. The shafts were 10F tall, but who was the mysterious first digger? Between 30 to 40F
05:25below the ground, the Onslow Company discovered a slab of stone that had an inscription. The inscription
05:32on the stone was in characters no one recognized. They quickly took a picture and sent it back to their
05:39company office. A local newspaper shared the mysterious details, igniting even more curiosity from local
05:46residents. The stone slab was recorded in the local paper as 2T long and about a foot thick with several
05:54characters cut on it. The Enow Company continued to explore explore the island, but the message on the
06:01stone remained untranslated for a century. When the Lajina brothers began their mission, they brought with
06:07them an exciting clue to unlocking the 100 year old secret. Historian and author Edward Rose Snow focused
06:16specifically on cracking the stone massage. Finally, just before his death, he realized what the message
06:22was. This discovery was remarkable, but also created more questions. While Edward Rose Snow had deciphered
06:29the code meant 40 FT below million pounds are buried, he still didn't know who was responsible for writing
06:36the message. What an ancient civilization reveal itself through Snow's diligence. Yonan Low Company never stopped
06:44exploring the land, and in 1931 the adventure was taken over by William Chappell. When Chappell was taking
06:51over the project, he was at the height of his own interesting research on early explorers. One of
06:57Chappell's first discoveries was an axe. It was the first manual labor object found in the site and caused
07:04quite a stir among the local community. The axe discovery was the first of many objects that made people's jaws
07:11drop in shock. After Chappell found the axe, his team went deeper and were amazed at what else they brought
07:18to the surface. The axe was traced back at least 250 years. The team also discovered an oil lamp and
07:25a
07:25miner's pick. These items originated from Great Britain. The Enau company led by researcher William Chappell
07:32tried to find different theories for who the items could belong to. So it's a team theorized that Marie Antoinette
07:39had managed to store her jewels on the island during her flight from France in the French Revolution.
07:45Another theory pointed towards a famous words myth. While the team constantly disagreed, there was one
07:51theory that stood out to the rest. From 1075 to his death in 1701, Pirate Captain Kidd ruled the Scottish
08:00seas. He was feared along several coasts and was traced back to the Essiers War and French-Indian War. The
08:07island was the perfect location for Kidd to hide his buried treasure and remain inconspicuous to his
08:14enemies. And after discovering the axe and the other items, it seems the trail went dry. Eventually,
08:22the Enloe Company packed up and was replaced by the Triton Alliance Company. When the company first
08:28purchased the rights to the island in 1980, they had high hopes and instead found themselves a laughing
08:34joke. After holding the rights and controlling access to the island for 25 years, the Triton Alliance
08:42Company filed for bankruptcy. Their digs had been unsuccessful and the company had squandered their
08:48resources on a dream. LaGena brothers Rick and Martin had been closely following the TR Alliance
08:55Company and their Oak Island activity. When they saw the island was available, they pulled their resources and
09:02made a purchase that had dreamed about since they were little boys. Maid, the brothers teamed up with
09:07a Blankenship clan and paid a cool $7 million to own the island they had dreamed about during their
09:13childhood. They decided instead of just focusing on digging for treasure, they would open the Oak Island
09:20Tour Company. Rick and Martin childhood's dreams were all coming true. They now held in their hands the
09:27deed to the infamous Oak Island. The brothers didn't realize this deed was also the ticket to changing
09:33their lives forever. When the brothers moved on to the islands to run their tour company and find the
09:39buried treasure, they had no idea of the local reputation. Oak Island had claimed the lives of six
09:46explorers over the past 300 years and residents began to feel the island was cursed. The brothers' purchase
09:54of the island attracted local news stations and also cable corporations. They were surprised when the
10:01History Channel reached out with a lucrative offer. The History Channel knew the brothers had paid a
10:06steep price to own the island. History Channel would help finance their treasure hunting if the brothers
10:13agreed to film a reality television show. In 2014, the reality series The Curse of Oak-O Island debuted on
10:23the
10:23history channel. It's one of the first massive finds was a Spanish coin found underwater. The
10:30Spanish coin was traced back over 3,000 years and its journey to Oak Island fueled the mystery and
10:37excitement to keep uncovering the island's secrets. Aye, the next item the brothers discover could also be
10:43their last. Due to the reality show budget, the the brothers were not digging on the island alone. They welcomed
10:50aboard archaeologist Miriam Emeril and Earth scientist Craig Tester. When Tester joined the brothers team,
10:58he already had something in common with them. In previous years old Dig S sites had become death
11:04traps and become filled with water debris and mud. It was extremely difficult to even enter the sites.
11:11As the brothers started the tough task of making the space safe, they realized it wasn't just nature they
11:17had to worry about. The team had uncovered booby traps that they couldn't trace back to a previous
11:23explorer. Whatever was beneath these traps was going to change the brothers lives, but it might also cut
11:29them short. The brothers continued to drain water and figure out the booby traps. When they discovered
11:36something truly remarkable, their team took out a sword that was dated back to the Roman Empire. Finding this
11:43sword meant that treasure had been buried on Oak Island even longer than people suspected, which with
11:48the success of the History Channel reality show The Curse of Oak Island, Reich were receiving more
11:54attention than they anticipated. They received a phone call from author Zena Halper, who found something
12:00in a research the brothers might find useful. Halper had been doing research for her upcoming novel
12:07when she discovered a map from 1 the 340. The map detailed Oak Island, but even more interesting,
12:15it gave clues on who had been on the island. The map from author Zena Halper linked the Knights of
12:22Templar and the French government to Oak Island. It gave the brothers an exact time frame when people
12:28would have started burying treasure beneath the surface. At the bottom of the map was an interesting note. It was
12:35written in French and translated to, with the Indians from the south work well. With the donation of the map,
12:43the brothers were hungry for more physical proof. Who had been on the island in the previous TRW?
12:49First thing they found was a piece of parchment. It was made from animal skin and looked like it had
12:55been
12:55used to take notes. It didn't have any words on it, but historians were able to trace it back to
13:01the
13:01same period of the map. What else could link the Knights of Templar to the island's buried secrets?
13:08And after a particularly tough period, the brothers' team found an artifact they wished they had never
13:15seen. The implications of this one item could shut down the rest of their operation. It was a human bone
13:23that had managed to stay preserved. Instantly, all digging ceased and the brothers called in the
13:30authorities. With the authorities, they also had the bone study by archaeologists. The scientists
13:36confirmed this bone belonged to a human being of Middle Eastern origin. Now the brothers were truly
13:42stumped. How had someone from the other side of the world been buried on Oak Islands? When the authorities
13:48gave the all clear, the Legina team was even more anxious to see what else they would find. It was
13:54only a matter of days before their team member, Gary Drayton, discovered a groundbreaking piece of metal.
14:00Everything that was happening was a dream come true for Rick and Martin, but would they ever make
14:06back their initial deposit of $7 million? Gary Drayton was an expert in identifying metal objects.
14:13Is this discovery was the oldest artifact the team had uncovered and blew aside their
14:18preconceived notions of Oak Island heritage? When Drayton correctly identified the metal cross,
14:24he was in disbelief. After the discovery of the cross, the brothers were eager to see if they would
14:30find anything else from that time period. They didn't have to wait long. Along and the team dug up a
14:36particular piece of jewelry. It was purple in color and Marty Lena also told the audience what he had
14:43learned. The ring was dated back over 400 years and was popular with African cultures. With the evidence
14:50of the bone, see Ross in the latest ring, it was confirmed by historians that the Knights of Templar
14:57had been using the island for their treasure. The Knights of Templar are famously credit in movies like
15:05the D.I.I. Zini code and national treasure. The Knights are an organization started by an unknown pun
15:11pope in the Knight Hooks. The Pans, the organization traces its roots back to 1118. The Knights had stolen
15:20treasures across the world, but there was still one thing the brothers couldn't figure out. In 2017, the brothers
15:27found proof that there was a secret tunnel connecting the island to a location only known as Smith's Cove.
15:35Gets a member of their team, Doug Crow, discovered a ship's log that detailed the treacherous underground
15:41walk. Was this the final piece of the Oak Island treasure hunt? While Rick and Martin have gone further
15:47than any previous explorer, they still do not have oval the answers. And the island has been used by many
15:53different people across history, and each one found a different way to leave a little treasure behind.
15:59The brothers did find one piece of gold in 2018, but to them, every day is priceless. They can't
16:06believe they started as children planning treasure hunts, and now live every day searching to uncover
16:12more about this mysterious and beautiful island.
