Jake, a small-town diner waiter, is humiliated by his fiancée Sophie and a rich heir Blake with a single penny on the night he proposes to her, crushing his love and dignity. Penniless, he still shows kindness to a homeless man named Hank, who unexpectedly gives him a lottery ticket that wins $300 million. Jake chooses to stay anonymous. He teams up with a lawyer, Leon, and uses shell capital to buy up local businesses, gradually chipping away at the Whitmore family empire.
