00:00Why can Guy Gardner's Green Lantern Ring protect an entire building, while Hal can only create a
00:04one-meter shield? In fact, we've all been fooled by Hal. In Superman, Guy can simply wave his hand
00:08and his Green Lantern Ring instantly creates a massive shield covering the entire building.
00:12But when facing an alien about to explode, Hal can only create a small protective sphere. He
00:16can't fly for as long as Guy can, nor can he create massive weapons like Guy does. Because of this,
00:21many people believe Guy's Green Lantern Ring is more powerful than Hal's, but they don't realize
00:25that this is exactly what makes Hal smarter. First, Hal isn't incapable of creating massive
00:29constructs. He simply doesn't think they're necessary. A Green Lantern Ring's energy works
00:33a lot like a foam battery. The larger the shield and the longer he flies, the faster that energy
00:37runs out. He's been a Green Lantern for nearly 40 years, so he already understands the importance
00:41of not wasting energy. That's why, even though he can fly, he still chooses to drive. And even
00:46though the things Hal creates are usually small, he pays incredible attention to recreating every
00:50detail. Compared to that, Guy's massive weapons look much rougher and less refined. More importantly,
00:55Guy has vellum blood running through his veins. This makes him physically stronger than Hal,
00:58so he doesn't have to worry as much about running out of ring energy. But after a few more years,
01:03and a few more hardships, Guy may eventually learn to conserve energy, just like Hal does.
