00:30.
01:02.
01:14In my humble opinion, Donald Trump is the most dangerous president in the history of the United States.
01:26.
01:27And that is why this midterm election is so important.
01:33Trump does not believe in the Constitution or the rule of law.
01:39Just the other day, he was given a speech and he gets carried away and he says,
01:43I can do anything I want.
01:45Well, Mr. President, read the Constitution.
01:49You can't do anything you want.
01:54.
01:59Donald Trump is a pathological liar.
02:05.
02:06And I think, I honestly think he doesn't know the difference between truth and fiction.
02:14And what really saddens me, think about this guy being the leader of this country and how that type of
02:20behavior impacts our children.
02:23We raise our kids, whether you're conservative, progressive or whatever you be, to tell the truth.
02:30.
02:31We do not lie all the time.
02:35Donald Trump is a narcissist.
02:41In fact, an extreme, I'm not a psychiatrist.
02:44But you don't have to be a psychiatrist to figure this one out.
02:49He thinks the world revolves around him.
02:54He thinks that every building in America should be named after him.
03:05.
03:08And not only is he a narcissist, he is running the most corrupt administration in American history.
03:20.
03:22Since he was re-elected, his family has gotten over $2 billion richer.
03:29And he flies around the country, flies around this country in this nice little plane that the dictatorship of Qatar
03:38gave to him.
03:40A $400 million plane.
03:42.
03:45And perhaps what disgusts me most about Donald Trump is that he is a racist and the most divisive president
03:54that we have seen in a very long time.
03:58.
04:03I think all of you know his racism, his racism is not new.
04:1015 years ago he came up with this lie that Obama was not born in America.
04:18He started his campaign in 24 by announcing that Mexicans are rapists and murderers.
04:26.
04:29And every other day he is attacking women of color in Congress as low IQ.
04:36.
04:37.
04:40And tragically, but not surprisingly, much of this campaign in Michigan right now are based on racist attacks against Abdul
04:52El Sayed.
04:54.
04:58And let us be clear.
05:00Trump may be a mentally unbalanced person, but he is not stupid.
05:10Like demagogues throughout history, he understands that the best and most effective way to stay in power is to divide
05:20people up.
05:22.
05:23Nothing new about it happened in this country, white workers against black workers, blacks are taking a job, Latinos, in
05:31Europe it was Jews, it was Gypsies, it's trans people, you name it, undocumented people.
05:37.
05:37You find a powerless minority, and then you blame them for all of the problems facing society.
05:46.
05:51And the reason that they are using Islamophobia against Abdul, is because they have nothing to say about
06:02the real issues facing working people. .
06:06.
06:16Mr. President, instead of slandering Abdul and his family, what are you going to do about the healthcare crisis in
06:25America? .
06:30.
06:31What are you going to do about the housing crisis? .
06:37.
06:38What are you going to do about income and wealth inequality? .
06:45.
06:46These guys have nothing to say about the real issues impacting working families,
06:53and all they can do is foment hatred and divisiveness. .
07:04And the reason of many, many extremely important Senate races around the country,
07:11the reason that in many respects this race here in Michigan is the marquee race,
07:17race the race the people all over the world are looking at,
07:21is whether or not the people of Michigan are going to stand up to that vile racism. .
07:35.
07:36And I have every confidence in the world, that's exactly what you're going to do. .
07:56So I have a suggestion for President Trump.
08:00Instead of lying and tarnishing and throwing hatred against Abdul and his family,
08:08why don't you get up there and explain to the American people why you threw 15 million Americans
08:14off the healthcare they have in order to give a trillion dollars in tax rates to the 1%.
08:20.
08:20Go, tell them, Mr. President. .
08:29.
08:29.
08:29Mr. President, instead of slandering Abdul and his family,
08:33why don't you explain to the American people why you started an illegal and unconstitutional war in Iran. .
08:48.
08:48Mr. President, why don't you explain to the people of Michigan, people of Vermont,
08:54people all over this country, really why you think the big tech oligarchs should be trusted with AI. .
09:03.
09:06Tell us why you think it's a great idea that we should have data centers in every community in America.
09:14.
09:16.
09:16And tell us why you think it is an American act that we have ICE agents knocking out doors, killing
09:26Americans. .
09:32.
09:36Now, some people think that this race is just about the ideological differences between Abdul and Mr. Rogers.
09:45This election goes far, far deeper than that.
09:49What this election is about is whether we finally hold accountable the most dangerous president in American history. . .
10:08or whether we continue to have a rubber stamp Congress approving everything that Trump wants. . .
10:23He was on a TV program and he asked, the moderator asked him whether he was going to be just
10:30a, kind of a rubber stamp for Trump,
10:32and he said, excuse me, I didn't quite hear the question. . .
10:47What he is doing in this campaign is not showing, not just showing, his willingness to stand up to Trump
10:55and all of that right wing ugliness. . .
10:58But he is doing much more. . .
11:17And here is why we need Abdul in the US Senate. . .
11:22Right now. . .
11:23Today. . .
11:24You don't hear much of this in the media, which is corporately owned. . .
11:28You don't hear it much in the US Congress, which is also corporately owned. . .
11:47As never before in American history, have so few people owned so much wealth and so much power. . .
11:57You remember when you were in school, we read about the Gilded Age of Rockefeller and JP Morgan and those
12:02guys? . .
12:03They were incredibly rich, incredibly powerful. . .
12:06Nothing compared to where we are today. . .
12:11Today in America, we have more income and wealth inequality than we have ever had.
12:17Trump and his friends every day becoming richer and richer while working people are struggling to put food on the
12:25table. . .
12:29The top 1% now owns more wealth than the bottom 93%. . .
12:39And our good friend Elon Musk . . .
12:47$400 million to try to buy this election. . .
12:57And we know why. . .
12:59Since Trump was president, been re-elected president. . .
13:03Musk has become much, much richer and more powerful. . .
13:08He now owns as one man . . .
13:20And what we are seeing, and again, we don't talk about this very much as a nation. . .
13:25But what we are seeing is not just the oligarchs controlling the economy with more and more concentration of ownership.
13:34. .
13:47These guys have a greed that is uncontrollable. . .
13:53They want more and more and more . . .
13:56They don't care if they destroy democracy in the process. . .
14:00And what this campaign is about and what Abdul is about . . .
14:20And these guys are now trying to undermine our democracy by buying this midterm election. . .
14:29And it's not just Musk spending $400 million. . .
14:47These guys who want Mike Rogers in the Senate . . .
14:51To continue to work for them . . .
14:54Rather than for working families. . .
14:59And what Abdul understands . . .
15:01Is the current campaign finance system . . .
15:05Is corrupt. . . .
15:15It's overturned Citizens United . . .
15:28Get super PACs out of the political process . . .
15:35And move to public funding of elections . . .
15:45And this is not complicated . . .
15:46It is one person . . .
15:49One vote . . .
15:51Not billionaires . . .
15:52Buying elections . . .
15:59And Abdul also understands . . .
16:03That at a time when 60% of our people . . .
16:07Are living paycheck to paycheck . . .
16:11At a time when in the richest country on earth . . .
16:14We have the highest rate of childhood poverty . . .
16:18Of almost any major country on earth . . .
16:22That at a time when . . .
16:25Millions and millions of older workers . . .
16:27Have virtually nothing saved . . .
16:30For retirement . . .
16:32That we need . . .
16:34To raise substantial revenue . . .
16:37Through a wealth tax . . .
16:39On billionaires . .
16:54How much money . . . .
16:58Does a billionaire need . . . .
17:01How many mansions do you need . . .
17:03How many jets and yachts . . . .
17:18And when we pass . . . .
17:21A wealth tax on billionaires . . .
17:23We are going to have . . .
17:26Enough revenue . . . .
17:27To build . . .
17:29Seven million units . . . .
17:30Of low income and affordable housing . . .
17:40To make child care . . .
17:43Free and universal . . .
17:49We will be able . . .
17:50To make public colleges . . . .
17:52And universities . . .
17:53And medical schools . . .
17:54And nursing schools . . .
17:55Tuition free . . .
18:12In the world . . .
18:20We are going to fight . . .
18:21To make sure . . .
18:21That no teacher . . .
18:23In America . . .
18:23earns less than $60,000 a year . . .
18:40Abdul understands . . .
18:42What the vast majority . . .
18:44Of people . . .
18:45In Michigan . . .
18:46Vermont . . . .
18:46And America . . .
18:47Know . . .
18:48Health care . . .
18:49Is a human right . . .
18:50Not a privilege . . .
18:57And we are going to end . . .
18:59The international disgrace . . .
19:01Of our great country . . .
19:03Being the only major nation . . .
19:05On earth . . .
19:06Not to guarantee health care . . .
19:21And on a personal note . . .
19:24Let me tell you . . .
19:25There are no doctors . . .
19:28In the Democratic caucus . . .
19:29Right now . . .
19:29I'm an independent . . .
19:30I caucus with the Democrats . . .
19:33Abdul wrote a book . . .
19:34Called Medicare for All . .
19:40And he knows . . .
19:43How broken . . .
19:44And expensive . . .
19:45And dysfunctional . . .
19:46The current health care system is . . .
19:49Now . . .
19:50Our opponents . . .
19:51Say . .
19:51We can't afford . . .
19:53Medicare for All . . .
19:55The truth is . . .
19:56We cannot afford . . .
19:57The current . . .
20:13And Abdul knows . . .
20:15That in Michigan . . .
20:16And all over this country . . .
20:17We have too many . . .
20:19Workers . . .
20:20Who are working . . .
20:22For starvation . . .
20:23Wages . . .
20:25The idea . . .
20:26That in the year . . .
20:272026 . . .
20:29The federal minimum wage . . .
20:31Remains at $7.25 an hour . . .
20:40To raise the minimum wage . . .
20:43To a living wage . . . .
20:47In my view . . .
20:48At least $20 an hour . . .
20:55And we're also going to pass . . .
20:57What's called . . .
20:58The PRO Act . . .
21:10We want to be . . .
21:11Part . . .
21:12Of a union . . .
21:41The PRO Act . . .
22:10The bond . . .
