Inside a dilapidated old cottage, young Tessa sat beside her “sleeping” mother, Evelyn. Too young to understand what death meant, she carefully slipped her precious half‑loaf of bread into her mother’s pocket, hoping she would wake up.
Faced with sudden peril and the despair of her mother’s unending slumber, Tessa called her father Adrian for help. Yet the guarded, cold‑hearted Adrian was convinced it was nothing more than a trick his wife had staged to gain sympathy.
