00:00So this is Democrat Senate candidate in Michigan Abdul Rahman El Said. He's running against the Republican Mike Rogers. So
00:07if you live in Michigan, Mike Rogers is your guy. But I want you to take a close listen to
00:11what Abdul Rahman El Said has to say about the Second Amendment. And you tell me if you want this
00:17type of person to have any type of power when it comes to making decisions in this country. Check it
00:23out.
00:25I'm going to swear to the Constitution. The Constitution has a Second Amendment in it. But the Second Amendment, just
00:29so we all are clear, even the most conservative folks, they hew to this idea called originalism. And originalism is
00:38the idea that you should interpret the Constitution in the context in which the Constitution was written.
00:44When they promised the right to bear arms, they had muskets. So, yeah, everyone should have like equal rights to
00:51a musket.
00:54And then let's also ask about why the Second Amendment was written, what the Bill of Rights was intended to
00:59do.
00:59The Bill of Rights was about a compromise to protect people from government tyranny under a Constitution because the people
01:06who had were voting to ratify that Constitution had just lived under government tyranny from the British.
01:11So the idea was that you had the right to bear arms against your government should they become tyrannous. And
01:17the way that we enacted that was in the we built, right, the Coast Guard, right, and in state militias
01:25that are supposed to be able to protect.
01:27Now, a lot of folks want to interpret all the rest of the Constitution in the original term and then
01:32want to interpret the Second Amendment in the most extreme version possible.
01:35And they they tell us that the Constitution says that you can have any gun for anyone, anywhere, at any
01:40time, which is just not consistent with any interpretation of the Constitution at all.
01:45And so the question we need to be asking is, are there some guns that are built just to kill
01:50as many people as possible?
01:52And do we really think that those guns ought to be just publicly available?
