00:04hi pepsters we are now here in Quezon Club in Soler North and with us is the
00:11very talented singer-actress Carla Guevara La Forteza yes okay Carla can you
00:19tell us more about your latest gig well I am your resident artist here at the
00:26Quezon Club I have a duo with David Ezra we do a lot of Sinatra Natalie Cole and
00:36Barbra Streisand Peebo Bryson all the classics really so if something it's it's
00:43such a nostalgic show to watch since it's announced the man so Sophia is coming
00:50back so how does it feel there are a lot of fans looking forward to it there have
00:57been speculations now it has stopped it has been cleared so just to confirm from the
01:03mom so she's coming she's coming back January right yes she'll be she's back but
01:09again I just want to thank everybody especially her icons for being so
01:14patient and understanding and she is if you guys know her well she doesn't like
01:22doing things half halfway and had she worked during her hiatus without going
01:30on hiatus you wouldn't see the the same Sophia that you you love because she was
01:35really she knew her body was not capable of doing what is needed so that's how
01:41intelligent she is she just needed to rest her body and rested her mind really
01:47like do things to make her happy again to bring her to that happy place again so
01:53and now she's ready so thank you thank you icons for waiting for her there are a lot
01:58of things to be learned about that no Karla especially performers like you your
02:04body physically and mentally emotionally so how did she how wish how was she able to cope with it what
02:14did she do just to give an idea to people out there to you know if they have mental health
02:21issues you
02:22know it's not just with mental health this is in general okay a person you should know your body if
02:29you're not feeling well why force yourself to work and
02:34and this also goes this message also goes to employees employers for that matter you
02:40want one hundred percent performance from your employees allow them to rest when they
02:49feel and even if you feel that they're not performing their best I think we should be
02:59conscious about that in any industry we should all be supporting each other to and help each other
03:05excel in everything that we do and we can the only way we can do that is to be able
03:11to
03:11take care of each other but you won't be able to take care of others if you don't
03:16take care of yourself first and that's what my daughter did how can she perform well
03:21and make her fans happy and if she's not well so it's it's any any that's in any
03:31profession like would you want a doctor performing your operation if he's sick himself
03:39you don't want to do that you want to operate your mind body and soul is ready to heal you
03:47but that's just that's it I think more than anyone else also you are the one who would understand her
03:54the
03:54most because you're in the same industry so you know how it feels I do but the thing is she
03:59doesn't have the
03:59same advantage as I do because I'm not a superstar I mean I'm a performer and I do this because
04:05I just love to
04:06perform but at the after right after I take my bow I go straight home I have a
04:12little bit of people like saying hi Carla can have a picture and all that but her
04:16level is different 24-7 true even when she's on vacation she's still working
04:22because you can't know your fans when you're in a picture when you're doing it so it was
04:28really hard for her so it was a really good decision for her to just say let's just
04:33have this hate so at least I can just like stop or stop the work and if the icons were
04:41real icons who love her they will understand and you did so thank you just a sneak peek
04:48Carla what did she do to I don't know did she go baking did she did everything that made her
04:54happy
04:55which was everything she did everything she could cook she would bake she would paint you know hang out
05:01with her loved ones went to her happy place which is what we should be doing like in my case
05:08my way of
05:10unwinding funnily is actually singing it is my it's my career but that's also my happy place
05:19okay so Sophia is admired by a lot of many even by her co-members because she's
05:27matured she is a born leader but siempre that's because she was because of her because of her mom
05:38because of her parents so what kind of parent are you and you because you were able to raise a
05:44well-rounded
05:45person a natural born leader so how what is your parenting style you know what I what I always say
05:52you can bring the horse to the stream but you cannot force it to drink okay so with that said
06:00what I my husband and I do is we guide and teach our children to go somewhere
06:10her it's up to them to do to it's up to them what they're gonna do about it that's why
06:16whatever
06:16traits Sophia has her leadership her maturity that's all her that was all her decisions and that makes her
06:26such a such a beautiful person because I didn't know she didn't know oh kailangan
06:32and that's how you know i said thank you Sophie you you know what you do you decide if you
06:40decide i mean
06:40what is it that you want in life what is it that you want to do what makes you feel
06:46good what makes
06:47you feel that you inspire people, then she figures it out herself, which she did.
06:56You're just there to support her.
06:57You're there to support me.
07:00Some people might think I'm a stage mom.
07:04Every mom is a stage mom because all we want is the best for our children.
07:08But I'm not the kind of mom that dictates to her what to do.
07:11I give suggestions or I give my opinions, but the decision will always be coming from her.
07:19You're busier than ever.
07:21Am I right?
07:23Well, I try to keep a balanced work life.
07:27I think I'm busy now with my live every Wednesday gig.
07:33But in previous years, I would be busy more on my theater stuff
07:38because I would do at least four to five musicals a year.
07:42But recently, I would only do two musicals a year
07:45so that I would have time to do events such as this.
07:48So what keeps you going, Carla?
07:50You've been doing this more or less three decades, right?
07:53More.
07:53Thirty-three, thirty-four.
07:55Maybe four years.
07:56Thirty-four years, to be exact.
07:58So what keeps you going?
07:59Is this really just because of passion?
08:01It is 100% passion.
08:03I believe this is the talent that God has given me.
08:08And there is a reason for that so that I may share this gift to everybody
08:14to be able to entertain, to be able to give happiness to people.
08:19I think that's my calling.
08:21And how do you feel that live performances, theater,
08:26it's really alive in comparison to previous years?
08:30I think it's more accessible these days.
08:33And there are more clients, customers, audience.
08:38I think it comes to also, we had that pandemic phase.
08:44So as soon as that ended, I think the live entertainment went overdrive
08:50because we were all so eager and excited to get back on stage
08:53and have really a personal relationship with our audience.
08:57So I think that's why live entertainment is booming in this particular era.
09:03Okay.
09:03When it comes to Quezon Club,
09:05so of course you're a regular performer here.
09:08So what can the audience expect from you and your other performances?
09:14Okay, this is what's perfect about coming to Quezon Club.
09:18If you want to experience something that's musical theater style,
09:24like a supper theater style, come here on Wednesdays.
09:28Because then you'll have me and David.
09:30If you want like a chill evening with drinks, you know,
09:35you want to talk to your friends at the same time and still be heard,
09:38come here on a Thursday.
09:40If you want to party hard, you come here on a Friday and a Saturday.
09:44Then you'll have Rada, you have the sirens,
09:47you have like all these lively music.
09:49So there is something for everybody.
09:50And then if you come on a Sunday, you can actually bring your kids
09:53because we're open for brunch
09:55and we have lovely artists who are able to play with your children
09:59and teach them stuff and do Disney
10:02and do all these fun, fun activities for your kids.
10:05So there is always something for everybody here at the Quezon Club
10:09from Wednesdays till Sundays.
10:11So there you have it, Pepsters.
10:13Thank you very much, Carla.
