Hollywood’s not glamorous here, it’s clay. „Clayface“ follows Matt Hagen, a rising movie-star type, until the ambition that was supposed to help him turns into something uglier. He gets stripped of his identity and humanity, and the reason is painfully simple. Love doesn’t soften him. Science doesn’t save him. They both just hand him the tools to become a revenge-driven monster.

The plot leans hard into that deliciously grim idea: when you chase your own image long enough, you start breaking the person who’s supposed to wear it. Expect a downward spiral, plenty of tension, and that specific horror flavor where the villain’s downfall is also his origin story, just with more regret than style.

It’s the kind of movie that treats obsession like a lab experiment. Results vary. Mostly in the worst way.

„Clayface“ macht aus Hollywood-Glanz eine Schmierenkomödie mit Blut, weil ein aufstrebender Star Matt Hagen nicht einfach nur Karriere verliert. Er verliert sich. Erst klingt es noch nach großer Chance, dann wird aus wissenschaftlichem Ehrgeiz ein Identitäts-Problem und aus Liebe ein Brandbeschleuniger für Rache. Das Ding ist: Wenn Hagens Körper und Verstand anfangen zu kippen, fühlt sich die ganze Geschichte weniger wie ein Thriller an und mehr wie ein persönlicher Absturz mit Reagenzglas-Vibes.

Das Tempo zieht an, die Moral bleibt klebrig, und ja, man merkt, dass hier jemand Spaß daran hat, das Monster-Genre einmal richtig schmutzig zu machen. Clayface ist genau die Sorte Film, die erst flüstert „warum“, und danach nur noch schreit „zu spät“.
