00:00Memories, conversations and laughs, all gone in an instant.
00:05As you walk down Kiln Down Close in Allington, the smell of smoke lingers.
00:10For this family, their home has been destroyed by a fast-spreading fire.
00:16In the early hours of Monday morning, brothers Eni and Bola, along with the rest of their family,
00:22evacuated their home and watched it burn.
00:25I think it was around 1.15, 1.20. I was about to go to sleep and then I heard
00:31an alarm going off.
00:32So I kind of rushed downstairs to investigate where the smoke was coming from.
00:36And that's when I discovered that it was coming from the utility room.
00:38And it was specifically the tumble dryer, like the fan inside the tumble dryer was essentially spinning fire.
00:44In the space there, he got everybody out of the house and he went back.
00:48The entire room was on fire at that point, so the fire spread quickly.
00:53For Eni, it's not just material things that are gone, it's very special memories too.
00:59I lost my dad when I was one, so I haven't really got much memories of him.
01:05I'm 26, he died in 2001, so the only kind of pictures I have of him were physical,
01:14or the memory of them were physical and kind of knowing that they're all gone now, it's like, yeah.
01:21Although the family here are struggling to come to terms with the fact that all of their belongings
01:26and their memories are gone, they're trying to remain positive.
01:31The soul that was in that house between all of us, my siblings, my mum, all the conversations that we
01:38used to have,
01:38all of the laughs that we had in that house, it's not forgotten because it still holds refuge within our
01:44hearts.
01:45The family are incredibly grateful to the public, with a GoFundMe for them already having raised over £10,000 within
01:5348 hours.
01:54It's been unbelievable the amount of people that I've actually supported, like, strangers that I probably won't even ever meet,
02:01you know.
02:02And from the bottom of my heart, I am really, really grateful. It's really, really touching.
02:08Um, but it's just, it's so special to see that people that you've never met from all over the world
02:14are able to kind of come together and support, which is, yeah, like I said, it's touching, and I do
02:20appreciate it.
02:20In a statement, Kent Fire and Rescue Service said that following a fire investigation,
02:26it's believed the fire started accidentally when a tumble dryer caught alight.
02:31With these donations, this family are determined to rebuild their future.
