00:00Tottenham ended their winless Premier League start with a 3-1 home victory over Coventry City, thanks to goals from
00:08James Madison, Omar Mamouche and Ben Davies.
00:12Frank Lampard, the Coventry City manager, remained optimistic despite the defeat, praising his side's performance and competitiveness against Spurs' quality.
00:22Here's what the Coventry boss had to say.
00:243-1 changes the view at the end of the game, but a 2-1 we're pushing.
00:29I thought from the first moment, our work, our threat, the belief within the team, how we defended low, it
00:36takes them two outstanding, well-class goals to score their goals.
00:42Everybody in the stadium felt the game.
00:45We showed a real personality in the way we played, in terms of we were fighting for second balls, we
00:52were running to be together.
00:53We had big periods in the game where we started to get on the ball and players played with confidence
00:57and took good decisions.
00:59When I analyse it as two teams, this is a strong Tottenham team.
01:02Their league position is not, it's real, but it's not probably, I think, related to this quality of their team
01:09and their performance and they'll get better, they'll improve for sure.
01:12But when you think of eight of our starting players who were in the Championship team last year, they've had
01:17a tough start for different reasons, but they're playing now.
01:20If you didn't know, just Tottenham and Chelsea, Coventry here like this, you wouldn't know to say who's the team
01:26that have been in the Premier League for the last 50 years or who's the team that's been out there
01:30for 25 years.
01:31And that, for me, is a big deal from what the players produce.
01:33I'm disappointed to lose.
01:34I'm not over-praising for a better, if you know football, they'll know they had a really tough game tonight.
01:40But, yeah, some half-times are difficult.
01:42This one was easy.
01:43Keep going.
01:45Their set-up of their team and their sort of rotations of the midfield, of Madison, Mamouche and the players,
01:52it meant there was no tactical, you follow him, you follow him.
01:55We just had to defend as a unit as we did.
01:56And when you think what we've restricted them to in terms of big chances with that quality in their team,
02:01I thought we continued that in the second half.
02:03It was just a kakara.
02:04And I felt belief today.
02:05There's been some games where I've said, believe more, lads, not in Forest.
02:08You know, we were sort of tentative in the last, but I didn't feel the same today.
02:12And for another day where Tatsu might score early in the game and things might drop for us or whatever,
02:17maybe, I thought there was a real feeling in the team.
02:20And that's progression for us from the first period of the season.
02:23And that's credit to the players.
02:24And they must now keep their feet on the ground and not just take great feeling from what I believe
02:29is a good performance.
02:29They must know that every game has to have all the baseline things that it had today to try and
02:34get results.
02:35And you won't always because Maddison are put in the top corner.
02:37Mamusha put in the top corner.
02:39That's football.
02:40But I thought if you just take the performance, I was very pleased with what they showed.
02:45In the first 15 minutes, we have three or four moments in Tatsu's chance.
02:49And then Maddison does that.
02:50That's football.
02:51But in terms of the approach, you can't stop some things like that.
02:54The boys, I thought, did pretty much everything they could tonight.
