00:08The amazing thing for us when we analyzed all the 2011 samples was how much biodiversity there was.
00:15We did not know that that many things lived deep in the Gulf.
00:19So we had about 200 new records of fishes that hadn't been recorded in the Gulf before,
00:26mostly because we hadn't sampled enough there.
00:54Then we went on in 2015.
00:56It didn't take too long before we started to suspect that things were lower
01:00because it just took us less time to process our samples.
01:21At the end of the day, we saw this big decline, and we were very comfortable that this was a
01:27real decline.
01:28It wasn't a blip or variability.
01:31So the question was then, why?
01:34So we looked at all of the natural variables we thought could account for it,
01:41namely temperature, oxygen supply, and food.
01:44None of those vary with the decline.
01:48The event that did was the oil spill.
01:51So we think that's the most likely cause of the decline.
02:04So we looked at the time for the fuel spill.
02:08We did not know how much of the fuel is going to be going to be done.
02:08The fuel spill is very low, and it was very low.
02:10It was very low, and it was very low.
