00:07of the opposition coalition's deregistration, which was announced days before the nomination
00:13day for the Melaka state election.
00:16Ahmad Samsuri described the decision by the Registrar of Societies Malaysia, or ROS, as
00:21extraordinary, saying that it was politically motivated.
00:24He said the people's wave cannot easily be extinguished by politicians hiding behind
00:31their positions of power.
00:32On Tuesday, the ROS announced that it had cancelled Perikatan's registration under sub-paragraph
00:3913.1.c.4 of the Societies Act.
00:42They said it had issued a notice last month, giving Perikatan an opportunity to submit explanations
00:48and representations on the matters raised.
00:51They said they received Perikatan's response on October 12, but found that the explanations
00:57and representations submitted by the coalition failed to refute the grounds for cancellation
01:02or provide sufficient justification for maintaining its registration.
01:07Nominations for the election are scheduled for October 31, followed by early voting on
01:13November 10 and polling day on November 14.
