the bravest thing Astrid does takes about seven steps.
Her fiancé offers what he thinks is a generous proposal, the night before their wedding. One night, no questions. He's confident she'll never find anyone better.
So she crosses the room. To Brennan — his best friend, and the only man she never got over.
Seven steps. That's the entire decision.
The show doesn't linger on the night — it spends its time on the morning, where the consequences live. Brennan asks her not to go through with it. She says yes. A clerk's office and it's done.
Then Marco comes looking for his bride.
She never explains herself. She doesn't owe him a speech — she answered with her feet.
✨ What worked for me:
- Nobody raises their voice. It's all quiet decisions.
✨ Bottom line: the most decisive heroine yet.
would you have crossed the room?

00:00Look! The Night School Vampires!
00:05They're the oldest, richest, most powerful race.
00:08They pull the strings behind everything.
00:10Even the human alights here have to obey and admire them.
00:18And then there's me, Elisa Carter.
00:21The only half-human, half-vampire at Cross Academy.
00:24Half-blood, I believe, is the preferred term.
00:26Once I turn 18, I have one week to make an important decision.
00:30Stay human, or become a full vampire.
00:33I always thought I'd stay human.
00:35And that's thanks to my boys.
00:43Jacob, Oliver, and Nash.
00:49Ten years ago, after my parents died,
00:52the head ministress, Catherine Lockhart, took me in.
00:55Jacob, Oliver, and Nash are her triplets.
00:58They made me feel safe.
01:01Wanted.
01:02Human, even.
01:04I love them.
01:06I even used to wonder which one I'd marry someday.
01:10But then...
01:11I want to dedicate this win to the one girl
01:14who means everything to all three of us.
01:17She's a crazy taser, guys.
01:19I love you, Kasha.
01:20Ironically.
01:21I love you, Yves.
01:24let's get some sentiment of happiness.
01:25I'm glad I'm kidding.
01:25I am surprised that everything isn't entirely else,
01:25You're my cripple night, midnight, midnight.
01:33Oh, thanks, you guys.
01:35guys? Amber showed up, and everything changed.
01:58Jacob, I thought you promised me the championship jersey this year.
02:03Elisa, can you not? It's Amber's birthday, we were just trying to surprise her.
02:07We promised we'd win this one for her and make it a memorable birthday.
02:10Did you really have to make it about you?
02:13But today...
02:18Today's my birthday too.
02:25So that's why you came to ruin it? To guilt us for not getting you a gift?
02:30Amber's never had a real birthday.
02:33We've celebrated yours every year. Come on, just let her have this one.
02:37I'm sorry guys, this is all my fault. I mean, I'm just the maid's daughter.
02:41I don't deserve the jersey as much as Elisa. Please just give it to her.
02:48And there she goes, right on cue.
02:51It's okay Amber, you did nothing wrong. We promised you the jersey.
02:56The world doesn't revolve around you, Elisa. Just leave us alone.
02:59Exactly. Get out of the way! Let's go!
03:17That's Elisa, right? God, what a mess.
03:19Amber told me Elisa got caught stealing the class fund.
03:22No wonder the triplets don't go near her anymore.
03:24What do you expect from some orphanage stray?
03:26It's in their nature to steal.
03:43Happy 18th, Elisa. I think it's time we talk about your future. Come to my office when you're free.
03:49If they don't want me anymore, then it's time for me to leave.
03:54Elisa, happy birthday!
03:59What happened to your head? Did those brats have anything to do with it?
04:03I'm fine, Auntie Catherine. I tripped, that's all.
04:09So, what did you want to talk to me about?
04:21Well, obviously you're a half-blood. Now that you're 18, you have to pick a side.
04:28You have one week to choose.
04:31You can go through purification and become a full human.
04:35Or you transfer to the night school to become a full vampire.
04:40Wait too long and the two sides of your blood will tear you apart.
04:45Your mother was my best friend. I promised her you'd get to choose your own life.
04:51Whatever you decide, I'm with you.
04:59Check it out. I posted it just for you to see.
05:02Feeling so loved by my favorite boys.
05:07Ten years with you guys and she replaced me in less than one.
05:12Elisa, did you hear me?
05:17I'm fine, Aunt Catherine. Sorry, please, go on.
05:22I was just saying that you and my boys have always been inseparable.
05:25So stay human. Stay with us.
05:28Let them keep looking out for you. I can arrange the purification this week.
05:31Thank you, Aunt Catherine, but I've decided.
05:36I'm going to become a vampire and I'm transferring to the night school.
05:40Please call the vampire lord and start the process today.
05:44You're serious?
05:46Elisa, once you make that choice, you can't take it back.
05:50What happened? Was it the boys? Amber?
05:53Don't make a permanent decision because you're hurt now.
05:56Come with me. I'll deal with them.
05:59I'm not doing this to punish anyone.
06:01I just... I don't have anything left here.
06:05It all started when they began to prioritize Amber over me.
06:09Always taking her words over mine.
06:12Amber? Is that Aunt Catherine's watch?
06:14No, I just...
06:23Elisa, you can't steal from Mrs. Lockhart!
06:26That's a crime!
06:27You can hit me all you want, but I can't cover for you!
06:32Elisa, this is unacceptable. So let me get this straight.
06:35Not only did you steal from us, you then attacked Amber to shut her up?
06:39What the hell is wrong with you?
06:40I did it! It was her! She...
06:41No! Stop lying!
06:43After that, I was just the greedy little thief who never changed.
06:50And Amber was the sweet, innocent girl they had to protect.
06:56Maybe becoming a vampire is not so bad.
07:00Your father and the old vampire lord fought side by side in the war.
07:04They were like brothers.
07:05His family will protect you.
07:07Your father even had you promised to his heir in marriage.
07:13Elisa, are you absolutely sure?
07:15Because when the boys find out...
07:17I'm sure.
07:17And Catherine...
07:21Please don't tell them.
07:22Alright. If this is what you want, I'll respect the decision, and okay?
07:26I won't tell them. You have my word.
07:29Yes.
07:29These are your transfer papers.
07:32Once I transfer to night school, they won't have to deal with me anymore.
07:40Jacob, Oliver, Nash...
07:42This is the last thing I'll ever do for you.
07:45I'll set you free.
07:55Oops!
07:56Sorry, Miss Elisa.
07:58I was clearing out the boys' closets.
08:00My hand must have slipped.
08:02I didn't mean to dump all this junk on you.
08:03Trash!
08:05These are my gifts from the boys!
08:06What the hell are you doing, Amber?
08:08What the hell are you doing, Amber?
08:11Ah!
08:14Ah!
08:16Ah!
08:19Ah!
08:20Ah!
08:22Let me tell you something, Elisa.
08:25You're not a Lockhart.
08:26You're the orphan they took in.
08:29Soon, I'll take everything from you.
08:31Their love.
08:33Your spot.
08:34All of it.
08:39Cute!
08:40I'll take that.
08:41Hey!
08:41Give it back!
08:42That one's important to me!
08:52I'm sorry.
08:53I didn't mean to.
08:54Please don't hit me!
09:06Elisa Carter, what the hell is wrong with you?
09:08It's barely morning and you're already attacking Amber?
09:10I didn't hit her.
09:12She took my handkerchief.
09:14The one you three gave me.
09:16I just wanted to look at it.
09:18I didn't know she'd freak out like that.
09:20I'm sorry, okay?
09:22No one's ever given me anything that special.
09:24I guess a maid's daughter will never be good enough to even touch her stuff.
09:31Elisa, you're acting so uncivilized.
09:33You've humiliated Amber.
09:35What's so hard about being kind?
09:36Apologize to Amber.
09:37Now!
09:38I didn't do anything.
09:40Why should I apologize?
09:42This family doesn't tolerate liars or bullies.
09:45Apologize, or I'll make sure you never pull this again.
09:54Say you're sorry, or I'm burning it!
09:59Wait, Oliver.
10:01That's enough.
10:02No, Jacob.
10:03This is exactly why she keeps acting like this.
10:06You always let her off easy.
10:07She needs to learn.
10:09Elisa, are you going to apologize or not?
10:11I did nothing wrong.
10:13Why won't you believe me?
10:14Fine.
10:15Then you made your choice.
10:16So don't blame me!
10:18No!
10:24Let me go!
10:26Oliver, please!
10:28Stop!
11:00Don't cry, Elisa.
11:01We know you miss your mom and dad.
11:03But you still have us.
11:04Look!
11:05We stayed up all night making this for you.
11:07As long as the three of us are around,
11:10we'll protect you forever.
11:11And we'll make you smile every single day!
11:20The boys who swore they'd always protect me
11:23were the ones who destroyed me today.
11:25They didn't just set that handkerchief on fire.
11:27They burned every promise they ever made me to Ash.
11:30Are you done punishing me?
11:32Can I leave now?
11:34Look, you were in the wrong today.
11:35No question about that.
11:36But once you apologize,
11:38we'll give you another handkerchief.
11:39Don't bother.
11:40I don't need it anymore.
11:44What's with the attitude?
11:46Wait, what's that?
11:49Transfer papers?
11:50Elisa, what is this?
11:51Where are you going?
11:52Wait!
12:00It's just some paperwork I put together for the headmistress.
12:04Relax, Jacob.
12:06Elisa's scared of the dark.
12:07There's no way she'd transfer to the vampire night school.
12:10Come on.
12:11The ground's cold.
12:12Get up first.
12:22It kicked up my ankle.
12:24I think I made it worse.
12:25It really hurts.
12:39Alright, let's just move on from this.
12:41The car's here.
12:42It's time for school.
13:02It's time for school.
13:06Um, that's my seat.
13:08Oh?
13:09I'm sorry.
13:10I wasn't feeling well the other day.
13:11So the boys let me sit here.
13:13You're not mad at me again, are you?
13:22From now on, Elisa gets the window seat.
13:24Always.
13:25We don't want her to get car sick again.
13:28I brought your favorite snacks.
13:30Here.
13:31Maybe they'll help.
13:33This seat is yours for life.
13:35Okay?
13:38You guys know I always get sick in the car.
13:43Why would you give her my seat?
13:50Well, Amber feels sick right now and that's all because of you.
13:53It's just a seat, Elisa.
13:55Why are you turning it into a whole thing?
13:58Not this again.
14:00Please stop acting so selfish, my God.
14:03Enough, Elisa.
14:05Just let Amber have it today.
14:07You've already put her through enough.
14:11You promised that seat would always be mine.
14:14Do your promises really mean that little to you?
14:16Here we go again.
14:17See?
14:18This is exactly what I was talking about.
14:20Enough guilt tripping.
14:21After what you pulled this morning, you're lucky you're even getting a ride.
14:24That seat is Amber's now.
14:36Fine.
14:38I give up.
14:39It's all hers.
14:41She can have it.
14:42She can have everything.
14:44What's that supposed to mean?
14:45You think this little tantrum is going to work?
14:47If you hate it here so much, get out!
14:52Don't worry.
14:53It won't be long now.
14:56What are you talking about, Elisa?
14:58You need to check yourself.
14:59That seat, your clothes, everything you own.
15:01The lock house is paid for it.
15:02We can do whatever we want.
15:04You don't get a say.
15:07Is that so?
15:09Fine.
15:11You can have it all back.
15:42There.
15:43I don't know the lock horns anything now.
15:51Oh please!
15:52Who is this little show for?
15:53It's one seat!
15:54Stop acting like we destroyed your life!
15:57Enough with the victim complex.
15:58Since you've spent all morning bullying Amber,
16:00you can find your own way to school.
16:18What is yourbit?
16:31Younger, I'm from Sway.
16:32Mr. Lisa Carter, this is Joseph, the Vampire Lord's Butler.
16:35I'm pleased to inform you that your transfer has officially been approved.
16:38A car will pick you up at sunset to the 7th쯤.
16:40Tonight will be your first night at the vampire school. Welcome home.
16:44At sunset, it's all over.
16:48And the Lockhart brothers, you won't ever get a say again.
16:52Three hours on that stupid bus, and I spent most of it throwing up.
16:56But somewhere between the nausea and the humiliation, I finally saw everything clearly.
17:01I became the team manager just to stay close to them.
17:05Three years of hauling gear, washing uniforms, taking care of everything.
17:08Today, I'm done.
17:18Alright team, championship photo! Everybody say cheese!
17:23Everybody? Did they forget about me?
17:28Hey, where's Elisa? We can't have a team photo without the team manager! She's done so much for us!
17:36Sorry, we didn't mean to leave you out. Come on, we'll take another one.
17:49Wait! We haven't done the celebration pose yet! Jacob, will you guys lift me up?
17:53You guys always used to do it with Elisa. It looks so cool. Pretty please?
17:57But then again, I know Elisa has to be okay with it first.
18:01Of course! Why would she mind? Come over here.
18:06Go! Yeah!
18:09We'll do this every year!
18:11We can even call it the Elisa celebration!
18:14Just us! The four of us! Forever!
18:25So much for us forever. It's like our memories never meant a thing to them.
18:36Elisa, look! Jacob and the boys lifted me up so high. Do you want a copy?
18:43No thanks. That's your memory. Not mine.
18:46Okay.
18:49Elisa, are you mad at me for being close to the triplets again?
18:52I'm sorry. Do you want me to stop? I just... I just always wanted what you had.
18:58Seriously, Elisa? Over a picture? She's our friend! We lifted her up! Get over it!
19:03Elisa, our patience has a limit.
19:06You think I'm just throwing a tantrum? Do you guys have any idea how much you've let me down?
19:11Come on. Again, it's a photo! Who even cares?
19:14You're right. I'm the only one who cares. So let's just tear it all down.
19:25No!
19:30No!
19:31No!
19:33No!
19:34No!
19:37No!
19:44Hm?
19:47No!
20:08Once, I considered this our most precious memory.
20:11One that the four of us would share forever.
20:13Now I know none of it was ever real.
20:17Did she seriously have to freak out like that?
20:19You two went way too far.
20:21Let me go check on her.
20:24I should go.
20:25This all started because of me.
20:26I'll explain that you were only trying to make me happy,
20:29not that you stopped caring about her.
20:31Thanks, Amber.
20:32If only Elisa was half as mature as you.
20:41You're just trash to them now, don't you get it?
20:43They can barely stand to look at you.
20:45Let go!
20:45Amber!
20:46I said I'm done.
20:47I'm over caring about any of you.
20:49Just leave me alone.
20:50What's your problem?
20:51Because that's not gonna hate you.
20:52I need to know you'll never take my place again.
20:56Elisa, stop!
20:57I know you hate me, but this is just too far.
20:59You're gonna kill me!
21:05Oh my god, Elisa just slammed her into the wall.
21:08Of course she did.
21:09She got adopted into the Lockhearts as their princess.
21:12Now all she does is bully Amber.
21:14She hates that Amber's the maid's kid.
21:16It's just disgusting.
21:17Elisa Carter?
21:18What the hell?
21:18I didn't do anything!
21:20She threw herself-
21:23No!
21:27What the?
21:29Jacob, really?
21:31Just because it's her?
21:33I just-
21:37So what if he hit you?
21:38We've put up with your crap for years.
21:40Now you're bullying Amber in front of the whole school?
21:42You know we don't tolerate bullies.
21:44Oliver's right.
21:45If I keep letting Elisa get away with things, she'll only get worse.
21:48Apologize to Amber!
21:49Now!
21:50I didn't push her!
21:51I've never bullied her!
21:52Not even once!
21:53You're still denying it?
21:54Okay.
21:55Elisa, I lost my temper.
21:57I shouldn't have hit you and I'm sorry.
21:59But Elisa, this is for your own good.
22:01Apologize and we can put this behind us.
22:03Then we can all go back to normal.
22:06No.
22:08I won't apologize for something I didn't do.
22:10Fine!
22:10Then don't come home tonight!
22:12Fine!
22:12I wasn't planning to anyway.
22:15What the fuck?
22:16Why is my heart pounding like this?
22:18Like, if I really let her go, she'll disappear?
22:21The kid who's always followed me everywhere?
22:23The girl who put me at the center of her world?
22:26Believe me?
22:38Don't touch me.
22:41Let her go.
22:42She's doing this to get a reaction.
22:44Once it gets dark and she gets scared, she'll come crawling home to apologize.
22:56Elisa, what happened to you?
22:59I'm fine.
23:00It was an accident.
23:02It's my son's, isn't it?
23:04Tell me the truth.
23:05There's no way you'd leave the triplets without them doing something first.
23:11Oh dear.
23:12This is all my fault.
23:14I promised your mother I'd take care of you like my own.
23:18But I never even realized something was going wrong between you.
23:23Listen.
23:24You don't have to leave.
23:25I will handle them.
23:26Okay?
23:27No.
23:28You've been the best mother I could have asked for.
23:31From the day you brought me home, you treated me like family.
23:34I'll never forget that.
23:36But I've made my choice.
23:38You know me.
23:39Once I decide, I don't go back.
23:48This is the Lockhart family heirloom, the midnight star.
23:53I want you to have it.
23:55As a gift for your new life.
23:58The vampire lord's family was thrilled when they heard your decision.
24:02They'll protect you.
24:04They'll always step up and take your side.
24:07You know, the old lord still remembers the marriage pact he made with your father.
24:12Who knows?
24:13Maybe you might even end up marrying his heir.
24:18Either way, knowing the vampire lord will be the one taking care of you.
24:23Puts my heart at ease.
24:29For letting me go.
24:31Human or vampire.
24:32You'll always be my daughter.
24:35I'm just going to miss you, my dear.
24:39She's leaving?
24:41Elisa?
24:43Where are you going?
24:46Isn't that the midnight star?
24:48That's been in our family for generations.
24:50Don't you get any ideas?
24:53So much for that big show of pride earlier.
24:55You came straight to mom, played the victim, and talked her into giving you our family heirloom.
25:00You are such a horrible, materialistic brat.
25:04She gave it to me. I never asked her.
25:06Enough with the lies.
25:07Elisa, we gave you a home.
25:09We've paid for everything your whole life.
25:11And somehow, it's still not enough for you.
25:14That's enough!
25:16You're all acting like fools.
25:18I gave Elisa the necklace.
25:20Mrs. Lockard, please don't be mad at them.
25:23They were only worried Elisa might be taking me-
25:24I wasn't talking to you. Mind your own business.
25:27If I'd known all along how vicious you were, I'd never have let you into my home.
25:32Mom, don't talk to Amber like that. She was just looking out for us.
25:35At least she isn't using our family for money.
25:38I said enough, you idiots. Take that scheming girl with you and get out of my office.
25:43Now!
25:44Watch yourself, Elisa. We will never let an ungrateful little thief like you off the hook.
25:51Unbelievable. I raised three idiots.
25:54It's alright.
25:57It doesn't matter anymore. This is my last day at the day school.
26:01My last day as part of their world.
26:04Once I'm gone, they'll probably be relieved.
26:10Elisa!
26:11So this is how it is?
26:13You run crying to Mom, feed her a bunch of lies about Amber, and get us in trouble?
26:18If you're mad at me, just say it to my face!
26:21You didn't have to go running to Mrs. Lockhart like a snitch!
26:25I didn't tell her anything.
26:27This is just absurd. How are you still lying?!
26:44That's enough, Oliver.
26:47Right, that was not very nice, Oliver.
26:51Here, Elisa, take my hand.
27:01What the hell?!
27:02Wait! Elisa, why are you pulling me in?!
27:09Amber!
27:09Hold on!
27:19I feel... I feel sick! It's so cold!
27:23It's okay. We've got you.
27:26Wait! Elisa's still in the water!
27:27Who cares?! Amber tried to help and Elisa attacked her!
27:33She can stay there and cool off.
27:35Bullies don't deserve our help.
27:42They didn't just shove me in.
27:44They even saved someone else first.
27:46They've somehow forgotten I can't swim, too.
28:11You're safe now, Elisa. We know you're terrified of water.
28:14I swear, we'll never let this happen again.
28:21Of course, the people who promise to protect you are the ones who know exactly where to hurt you.
28:26I'm done. This time, I'm really done with all three of you.
28:34Wait, J-Jacob? Where is Elisa? And-is that-is that blood?!
28:40Shit! How did we forget? Elisa can't swim! She was drowning!
28:43Elisa!
28:54Elisa!
