02:18He looks like the guy everybody was hoping he would be
02:22when he was the number one overall pick.
02:24You can see how comfortable he is in year three of this system
02:29just based on how quickly the ball is getting out of his hands.
02:33Plus, he has always had that ability to extend plays
02:37and make plays down the field.
02:40It helps when you have a receiving core led by Ted Errol McMillan.
02:44Look at the game he had the last time they played
02:47against the Detroit Lions.
02:49He's been fantastic as well.
02:51Coming up, countdown to kickoff continues.
02:53The Panthers looking to build on their lead in the NFC South.
02:57The Eagles try to end their three-game losing streak.
03:00It's Carolina and Philadelphia from the Lake.
03:31It's week six of the NFL on CBS as we come to you from Philadelphia.
03:36The Panthers and Eagles go toe-to-toe.
03:39We'll get it started next.
03:44CBS Sports welcomes you to the following presentation
03:49of the National Football League.
03:58Temperature currently 53 degrees.
04:01Sunny skies the rest of the afternoon.
04:03Supposed to hit somewhere around 58.
04:06The win, not a huge factor, at least not right now.
04:10Carolina won the toss.
04:11They've deferred to the second half.
04:14Panthers interaction at 2-2.
04:16Eagles are 2-3.
04:19It will be Ryan Fitzgerald to get it started
04:22with Covey and Cooper deep for Philadelphia.
04:28Eagles come in averaging 18.4 points per game.
04:32That's the lowest that they've averaged through five games since 2012.
04:38And the Panthers currently leading the NFC South
04:41a half-game ahead of Atlanta.
04:43We're underway in the city of brotherly love.
04:45That one does land just inside the 20.
04:48It's scooped up at the 10.
04:50Crossing the 25 is Cooper, and that's where he is dropped.
04:54Philadelphia will open up there.
04:57Tanner McKee in his fourth year in the NFL out of Stanford
05:01getting an opportunity because of Jalen Hurts going on IR.
05:06What's the scouting report on McKee?
05:07He is very smart and extremely accurate.
05:12I would expect the ball to get out of his hands quickly.
05:15That certainly would be a good sign for the Eagles
05:18in terms of his comfort level
05:19in the new offense here with Sean Mannion.
05:22And they will open up at the 26-yard line.
05:26No Saquon Barkley.
05:28It's Damian Pierce, who was the fourth-string running back.
05:32Didn't make the team coming out of the preseason.
05:35Up first down.
05:37Look out!
05:38Tanner McKee goes down.
05:40The rush from Okereke
05:42on the first play from scrimmage.
05:45It's an 11-yard loss.
05:47A lot of stuff going on pre-snap.
05:49They brought two guys right where they knew
05:51the play-action was coming.
05:53Pierce can only get one of them.
05:56And Okereke all over McKee.
05:59A disastrous start for the Eagles.
06:01They wanted to try to do play-action,
06:04try to get an easy completion for McKee.
06:06That's not going to work if two guys come free.
06:09Philadelphia came in the worst first-down team in the NFL.
06:133.9 yards on first down.
06:15That's nearly intercepted!
06:19Bouncing off the hands of Lemon Okereke
06:22nearly put together back-to-back highlights
06:25on the first two plays.
06:26Well, this could have been disastrous.
06:29McKee leads Lemon just a little bit,
06:31goes off his fingertips,
06:34and right off of Okereke's hands,
06:37he can't believe it,
06:38brings up third and forever.
06:41Offenses don't like to call it this, Zion,
06:43but this is a give-up situation.
06:45Screen, draw, something underneath
06:47to just try to get a little field position
06:49rather than trying to force something down the field.
06:52Third down and a mile for Philly.
06:55First possession of the day.
06:56McKee dumps it off,
06:58catches May to the 16.
07:00Pierce cuts it upfield,
07:01and he is brought down
07:02as he gets back to the original line of scrimmage,
07:05a gain of 11.
07:06And that was a very uneventful
07:09three and out for Philadelphia.
07:12I was going to call it an inauspicious start,
07:16and they didn't even look, to me,
07:18comfortable on the first down play.
07:20Guys were moving around.
07:22McKee was moving guys in motion.
07:23It didn't seem like things were as smooth
07:26as they should have been.
07:27Philadelphia leads the NFL on three and out,
07:29so they've added to their total.
07:31Mann punting.
07:33Return man, Achan.
07:35Back off injured reserve,
07:37and Achan making some things happen.
07:39Working that sideline,
07:41Carolina will have solid field position
07:43to open up after the 24-yard return.
07:46Bryce Young, he's got Philadelphia roots.
07:48He was born in Wynwood, Pennsylvania,
07:51lived in Havertown, Pennsylvania,
07:53very briefly before moving to California.
07:56So dad is from Philly.
07:59Mom is from the West Coast.
08:01Mom won out.
08:03And that's okay,
08:04but he has maintained the Philadelphia connection,
08:07came here as a kid for holidays
08:09over the course of his youth.
08:11Yeah, he said whenever he would come here,
08:13he would put as many butterscotch crimpets
08:15in his luggage as he can,
08:17which, by the way, is a very smart move.
08:19They're delicious.
08:20Yeah, he knows ball.
08:23Hubbard, the single setback from the 39.
08:26Motion man is the tight end tremble.
08:30Young on a give.
08:30A big hole for Hubbard.
08:33And he keeps plowing for the first down.
08:36Out to midfield.
08:37Good block from tremble.
08:39That's an 11-yard game.
08:40Here's what to keep an eye on,
08:41presented by Google Search.
08:44Well, Tedderall McMillan's coming off a monster game
08:47the last time the Panthers played.
08:49And he won't be matched up with Quinion Mitchell
08:51all the time,
08:52but there will definitely be
08:53some pretty fun one-on-one matchups
08:56against two of the better young players
08:57at their positions in the league.
08:59Hubbard is averaging a career-high
09:0197.5 yards from scrimmage.
09:03Young, clean pocket.
09:04Zips it downfield.
09:05And he makes the connection with McMillan,
09:08one of the most dangerous weapons of the NFL.
09:10That covers 15 yards.
09:12Bang, bang.
09:13Carolina's in Philly territory.
09:15And again, it's the play-action pass.
09:17So you're running on first down.
09:18You come back with the play-action pass.
09:20You put McMillan in the slot.
09:23So he's working against McCuba, the safety,
09:25as opposed to out wide against Mitchell.
09:28Very smart from the Panthers.
09:30I expect them to try to get McMillan
09:31in the middle of the field a lot today.
09:33And just like that,
09:34the Panthers are at the Philly 35.
09:36Quick hitter.
09:36Bounces off the hands of McMillan.
09:38Incomplete.
09:40Ted Aroa had a monster game
09:42against Detroit two weeks ago.
09:4414 catches, 192 yards, two touchdowns.
09:47They did this a lot in that game against Detroit.
09:51That's just an RPO,
09:52where it's a called run play,
09:54and Bryce Young can give it to Hubbard,
09:57but if he likes McMillan on the in-breaking route,
10:00he can try to throw him the slant quickly,
10:02just not able to connect.
10:04Second and 10.
10:07Fink the handoff,
10:08and then fire it to McMillan.
10:11Not enough for a first down,
10:12but certainly efficient six yards.
10:15McMillan has worked out of the slot
10:16more this year than in his rookie season.
10:19Another RPO, too, right?
10:21Bryce Young fakes the run.
10:22Boom.
10:23It is crazy how quick his release is.
10:26I mean, he doesn't even get his hands on the laces
10:30a lot of times when he's throwing it.
10:32Brings up a big third down.
10:34Could be four-down territory for Carolina
10:37based on the result of this play.
10:39Brad Idzik is the offensive coordinator,
10:42first year calling the plays.
10:44Dave Canales, the head coach,
10:45had called them the previous two years.
10:48Third down and four.
10:50It's a run,
10:51and it's Hubbard.
10:53Philadelphia stops him.
10:55He gets stonewalled at the 29,
10:59and now it's fourth down.
11:01And they're going to bring the field goal team out immediately.
11:05I kind of thought if you ran the ball on third down
11:09that maybe that would be with the idea of going for it
11:12on fourth down,
11:13but I think they just thought they might be able to pop
11:15an inside zone against the Eagles defense.
11:17Nice job by Philly.
11:18Ross, we are witnessing NFL history.
11:21J.J. Jansen,
11:22his 282nd career game,
11:25the most ever for a long snapper.
11:28This is going to be a 47-yard attack
11:30from the snap of Jansen,
11:32the hold of Martin,
11:33the kick of Fitzgerald.
11:35And Carolina is on the board.
11:40Congratulations to J.J. Jansen.
11:43It's quite an accomplishment.
11:46Panthers settle for three
11:48on their first possession of the day.
11:57Back here at Lincoln Financial Field,
11:5924th year as the home of the Eagles,
12:023-0 lead for the Panthers,
12:0410-50 mark of this opening quarter.
12:07Fitzgerald will kick it off for Carolina
12:09with Covey and Cooper once again deep.
12:12The struggles have been real offensively here
12:15for Philadelphia this season.
12:17Fewest yards per game
12:19through five games since 1999.
12:21They're averaging 254.8 yards per game.
12:26Only had 232 last week
12:28in that very difficult loss
12:31to Jacksonville, 1917.
12:33On the long kickoff return
12:35by Amir Abdullah of the Jaguars
12:37and then the 57-yard field goal
12:39by Cam Little in London.
12:45That ball is loose.
12:47Covey does scoop it up.
12:50As he recovers to get it,
12:52it allows Carolina to get down the field
12:55and bring him down to the 22.
12:57Isaiah Simmons on special teams.
12:58Points by quarter.
13:00First quarter, dead last.
13:02Second quarter, different story.
13:05Second half, back to what we saw
13:07in the first quarter.
13:08What's your analysis?
13:09I wish I could give you
13:11some excellent reasoning
13:13why they're really good
13:14in the second quarter.
13:15I got nothing, man.
13:16You know, watching the tape,
13:17I watch every snap.
13:18I don't know why they seem
13:20to kick it in the gear
13:21in the second quarter,
13:22but then they can't keep it going
13:23in the second half.
13:23That's why you get paid the big bucks.
13:27Shotgun here.
13:29McKee fakes it.
13:31He's hit as he throws,
13:32and nothing is working right now
13:34for Philadelphia on offense.
13:35It has looked disjointed.
13:37Lee Hunter puts the pressure
13:38on the 6'6 McKee.
13:42Eagles not in sync up there
13:44with the right guard,
13:45Steen, and the center.
13:47Majors.
13:48Majors is getting the start again.
13:50I think a lot of people thought
13:52Drew Kendall might be able
13:53to go this week,
13:54but Majors coming up
13:57off the practice squad,
13:58getting his second consecutive
13:59start at center.
14:01He and Steen let Hunter
14:02just go right in between them.
14:04Kendall dealing with a knee injury.
14:06He is active.
14:09Toss it,
14:09and Pierce loses his footing.
14:13Oh, Karake has been everywhere
14:15in the early going.
14:16That's a loss of three.
14:18Panthers doing a really good job
14:20early of trying to take away
14:23the underneath stuff,
14:24take away McKee's first throw here.
14:28So you mentioned Kendall.
14:30Of course, Jalen Hurts.
14:31The news came down yesterday,
14:32placed on IR,
14:34blood clots.
14:36It was discovered in the calf,
14:38initially superficial blood clot.
14:42And now he'll miss
14:44the minimum of four weeks.
14:45Saquon Barkley is on the sideline
14:47watching for Philadelphia.
14:48He's out with a hamstring injury.
14:50Deep drop for McKee.
14:51Step and throw.
14:53It's a little bit offline,
14:54handled by Lemon.
14:56Carolina believes it should be incomplete.
14:59It's not going to be
14:59a first down either way.
15:00They're going to mark it
15:01a clean catch of nine yards.
15:04Fourth down.
15:04Nice protection.
15:06The ruling on the field
15:07is an incomplete pass.
15:09Fourth down.
15:10And they've corrected it
15:11that the ball did hit the ground
15:13here for the rookie from USC,
15:15Makai Lemon.
15:16A trap.
15:19That is the correct call,
15:20and I like that we have
15:22quick reviews and replay assist
15:25to get these things right.
15:27I feel like Dave Canales
15:28was helping the officials.
15:30He was right there
15:32indicating incomplete.
15:35And Philadelphia's going to punt it
15:37with Braden Mann.
15:39More of the same from Philly
15:41so far in the first quarter.
15:43A-Chan is dangerous.
15:47Cutting it to the outside,
15:48turns the corner,
15:49and angles out of bounds.
15:51Once again,
15:51just shy of the 40-yard line.
15:54It's a 55-yard punt.
15:55A 13-yard return.
15:57A penalty marker is down
15:58at the Philadelphia 27.
16:06It's a Carolina offense
16:08that really poured it on
16:09against Detroit.
16:10445 yards two weeks ago.
16:15We'll hear from John Hussey.
16:1612th year as a referee.
16:18joined the league in 2002.
16:24Holding.
16:25Receiving team number 48.
16:28That 10-yard penalty
16:29will be enforced
16:30from the end of the kick.
16:32First down.
16:34Timeout.
16:34Thomas Inkoom
16:35called on the penalty,
16:37so back it up for the Panthers.
16:39They've got the football.
16:40They've got a 3-0 lead.
16:44It's been a metamorphosis
16:46for Carolina offensively.
16:48The fall fest.
16:502023 to 25.
16:52Second fewest points per game.
16:53Yeah, they were smashing pumpkins.
16:55But things have changed.
16:58Here in 2026,
17:00passing yards per game.
17:02Bryce Young is number one
17:04in the NFL.
17:05They're averaging
17:05better than 30 points per game.
17:08Dave Canales' patience
17:09has paid off
17:10for this franchise,
17:11setting the culture,
17:12and it is absolutely working
17:15right now in Carolina.
17:17After the penalty,
17:19it's backed up
17:19to the 16-yard line.
17:21Chiba Hubbard,
17:22not much there,
17:24although the squeeze out
17:26of four-yard pickup
17:27with Jordan Davids
17:28getting in there defensively.
17:29NFL Today update.
17:30Let's go to Adam Schein.
17:32All right,
17:32Caleb Williams is back
17:33and thumbs down pass
17:34to Colston Loveland.
17:36Caleb 6-for-6
17:37on his first drive
17:38after missing three weeks
17:40with a hamstring injury.
17:417-0 Bears,
17:42back to you.
17:43Welcome back,
17:44Caleb Williams.
17:45And if you're a Bears fan,
17:47feels like your team
17:49is ready to compete
17:51with the rest of the NFC.
17:54They've been getting it done
17:55against NFC South teams.
17:57They've won five straight.
17:59Pistol formation.
18:01Young.
18:02Step and fire.
18:04It's on the money
18:05to McMillan.
18:06Working that sideline.
18:07It's a first down
18:08for Carolina.
18:09Makuba was back there
18:12defensively,
18:12and a penalty marker
18:13is down.
18:1621-yard hookup,
18:17but nobody is starting
18:18to work their way
18:19downfield.
18:23Illegal contact.
18:25Defense.
18:26They should.
18:26Number 24.
18:27That penalty is declined.
18:29Result of the play.
18:31First down.
18:31And it's Makuba.
18:36So the Panthers
18:37are doing a smart thing.
18:38Watch the motion here.
18:40Once he motions outside,
18:42then he becomes
18:43the widest guy.
18:45So then that's who
18:45the corner covers.
18:46So they're doing that motion
18:48on purpose
18:48to get McMillan
18:50matched up against Makuba.
18:52All of these shifts
18:53and motions are by design,
18:55but the corners
18:56take the widest guy.
18:57So right before the snap,
18:58they switch
18:58who the widest guy is.
19:00Take the handoff.
19:01Young is dumped
19:03back at the 28.
19:04Nolan Smith gets home.
19:14Well, Tommy Tremble
19:16is going to be blocking
19:17Nolan Smith initially,
19:19but that is a bootleg.
19:20Bryce Young has got
19:21to get rid of that football.
19:23That sack is on him.
19:25Nobody's supposed to stay
19:26with Nolan Smith.
19:28It's just a chuck
19:28and then go out for a route.
19:30Can't afford to be losing
19:31eight yards like that
19:32on first down.
19:34One, two, three,
19:36so now a second
19:37and 18 with under
19:38eight minutes to go
19:38here in the opening quarter.
19:41Young to throw it.
19:43Out of the pocket.
19:44Young, stop.
19:45He will throw
19:46on a crosser to Tremble.
19:49And he's tackled there
19:50by the safety Makuba
19:52in his second year
19:53out of Texas,
19:54limiting him
19:55to a six-yard pickup.
19:56We check in with Evan.
19:57Flying long third down here,
19:59but a lot's changed
20:00with this offense.
20:01Most importantly,
20:02the play caller.
20:03Brad Idzik has come in.
20:04He's been a part
20:05of the organization
20:05with Dave Canales
20:06and really put
20:07his imprint on it.
20:08And they've described
20:09it as Bryce's system.
20:11They do things he likes
20:12but also things
20:13he doesn't like
20:14but they know
20:14he's good at
20:15and it's shown returns.
20:17Big play here.
20:18And Canales told us
20:19he has been working
20:20with Idzik
20:21together for eight years.
20:23They built the offense
20:24together in Tampa
20:25and he just knows
20:26the bare bones of it.
20:27Young,
20:28on third and 12,
20:29he's going to air it out deep
20:31and it bounces off
20:32the defender.
20:33Waller matched up
20:35with Wollin.
20:37Philadelphia stops Carolina.
20:41They have not been afraid
20:43to throw it deep.
20:45Looked to me like
20:46Waller couldn't really
20:48see the ball in the sun.
20:50Coming off to the sideline,
20:51he pointed up at it
20:52because if he could,
20:54I think he would have
20:54worked his way back
20:56into Wollin
20:57and perhaps at least
20:58drawn the pass
20:59interference penalty.
21:02And the sack changed
21:04the whole complexion
21:05of the drive.
21:06Sam Martin will punt it.
21:08Not much of a rush.
21:09High kick.
21:11Covey dealing with the sun
21:12and brings it in.
21:14Cleanly fair catch
21:15called four
21:16at the 11-yard line.
21:17That's a 50-yard kick.
21:19So Philadelphia
21:20back on offense.
21:21They trail the Panthers
21:233-0.
21:27It has not been
21:29a good start
21:29for the Eagles
21:30offense today.
21:31They're trying to get
21:32McKee some easy completions,
21:35but when you're
21:36under pressure
21:36or if the receiver
21:38can't hold on to it
21:39again here,
21:39under pressure,
21:40just lucky to get
21:41rid of the football.
21:43And they're doing
21:44everything they can
21:45to try to get him
21:46comfortable,
21:47but it's been
21:48anything but so far.
21:51Now, as we know,
21:52the Eagles' identity
21:52has been a dominant
21:54run game
21:54through the years.
21:55No Barkley,
21:57reshuffled offensive line.
21:58Last week,
21:59they had their lowest
22:00rush total in a game
22:01since 2015.
22:02They had 22 rushing yards
22:04against Jacksonville.
22:05They are yet
22:06to run the ball
22:08here this afternoon.
22:12Damian Pierce
22:12sets up
22:14next to McKee.
22:15They were looking
22:16to run it,
22:17but flags come down.
22:18And it's been
22:19that kind of day
22:20for Philadelphia
22:21on offense.
22:25full start.
22:26Offense number 68.
22:28Five-yard penalty.
22:29First down.
22:36So, keep an eye on Ross.
22:38The rushing yards
22:40from last week.
22:41Carolina,
22:42a team that's been
22:42susceptible
22:43against the run.
22:44And I think
22:44the Carolina number
22:45is a little bit
22:46skewed by the Bears game,
22:47but you still feel
22:49like the Eagles
22:49are going to have
22:50to get some ground game
22:52going to help out McKee.
22:54It doesn't help, though,
22:54when you're trying
22:55to run it on first down
22:56and your false start.
22:57Well, former Kansas City
22:59Chief Carson Steele
23:00in there
23:00to help protect McKee.
23:02Throwing out
23:02of his own end zone.
23:03He's going to unleash
23:03a deep shot,
23:04and it's incomplete.
23:06Devontae Smith
23:07tried to stab it
23:08with one arm,
23:09and a flag is down.
23:13Will Lee,
23:14the rookie
23:15out of Texas A&M,
23:16they are down
23:17both of their
23:18starting corners
23:19to injury.
23:20JC Horn and Mike Jackson.
23:22Defense number 24.
23:24That ball replaced
23:25the spot of the foul.
23:27Automatic.
23:27First down.
23:29Well, you can see
23:30why he tried
23:31to catch it
23:32with one hand,
23:32because Lee
23:33was grabbing
23:34his other arm.
23:36I'm expecting
23:37if it's single high,
23:38that means there's
23:39only a safety
23:40in the middle
23:40of the field.
23:41I think single high
23:43Tanner McKee
23:44is going to let it
23:45fly to these receivers.
23:47They like their
23:47matchups outside
23:48against these
23:49backup corners.
23:50McKee said
23:51being QB1
23:52during practice
23:53has made a huge
23:54difference trying
23:55to build chemistry
23:55with his main weapons.
23:57And McKee
23:58sensing the pressure,
24:00gets rid of the football,
24:01tried to dump it
24:02off to steal.
24:03Travis Gibson
24:04had a beat
24:05on the quarterback
24:05and at second and ten.
24:07This is part
24:08of the problem
24:08when you're running
24:09play action.
24:10You know,
24:11they had good protection.
24:12There's only two guys
24:14out on the route
24:14initially,
24:15and McKee
24:16didn't like either one.
24:17I think maybe
24:18he could have fit it
24:19right there.
24:20I don't know
24:20where he's looking,
24:21but that's a big
24:22enough window
24:23could have been
24:24an explosive play
24:24for the Eagles.
24:25McKee didn't see him,
24:26had to just throw it away.
24:28McKee said his phone
24:29blew up this week.
24:31He wants to apologize
24:32to all the people
24:32that he hasn't gotten
24:33back to yet.
24:34He said he will.
24:36Second and ten.
24:38Swing pass.
24:40Contact Steele
24:40bounces off it
24:42and is angled
24:43towards the sideline.
24:45And a gain
24:46of four and a half
24:47on the play.
24:49Steele up on his feet
24:50after taking a big shot.
24:52Yeah, he,
24:53I don't like the way
24:54he's grabbing
24:55at his right arm there.
24:57He made some big plays
24:58for them
24:59in the preseason.
25:04They are really
25:05thin at running back.
25:06They had to sign
25:07Jadon Blue
25:09off of
25:10the practice squad
25:11today just to have
25:12three running backs.
25:14And similar to you,
25:16Ian,
25:16Carson Steele
25:17has a pet alligator.
25:19Yeah,
25:20that's
25:21something that I've
25:22always been so proud of.
25:24Steele
25:27guy that was
25:28Mr. Football
25:29in the state of Indiana
25:30back in his high school days.
25:32Originally was at Ball State,
25:34then transferred to UCLA.
25:36He was on the Philly
25:38practice squad.
25:42And Pierce
25:43is back in there.
25:44You mentioned
25:44that Jadon Blue,
25:47second-year running back
25:48who was previously
25:49with the Cowboys,
25:50may get an opportunity
25:52based on the injury
25:54issues for Philly.
25:56Right now,
25:57the focus is on
25:57third and six.
25:59Out of the pocket.
26:01McKee buying time.
26:04Trying to work
26:05that sideline.
26:06And it is
26:07a clean catch.
26:10Dontavian
26:11works
26:13working that sideline.
26:15And they're trying
26:16to rush to the line
26:17so they can get a snap-off
26:18before Carolina
26:19can look at it.
26:24It's a first down
26:26to the 40-yard line.
26:29Pierce.
26:30Nice cut.
26:33And Pierce
26:34carries it.
26:35Just short in midfield
26:37hit by the safety
26:38Nick Scott.
26:39It's a gain
26:40of nine and a half.
26:42That catch by Wicks
26:43was crazy
26:44because Trayvon Merrick
26:45was right there.
26:46I mean,
26:47he gets both feet down
26:49just in case
26:50the Eagles
26:50snapped it right away.
26:52But Merrick
26:53was there
26:53with outstanding coverage
26:55and just didn't expect
26:56McKee to actually
26:57try to fit the ball
26:58in there.
26:59Good job by McKee
27:00and Wicks
27:01by not giving up
27:02on the play.
27:05Jalen Phillips
27:06was slow to get up.
27:07The former Philadelphia Eagle
27:09who signed a four-year
27:11$120 million deal
27:12with Carolina
27:13and he has been
27:14everything that
27:15they hoped he would be.
27:19he was on the injury report
27:23this week
27:24coming off an injury
27:25at the end of the game
27:26against the Lions.
27:28And Steele
27:29still having issues
27:30with that right arm.
27:31He's going to be escorted
27:33back to the locker room.
27:37Already thin
27:38at that position
27:39they get a little bit thinner.
27:43Phillips is going to head
27:44into the blue tent.
27:46It was a hamstring issue
27:48for Phillips
27:48that's why he popped up
27:49on the injury report
27:50coming off a bye.
27:52Second and one.
27:54So Gibson
27:55steps in for Phillips.
27:57Seventh-year pros
27:58been with Chicago,
28:00Tennessee,
28:00Seattle,
28:01and San Francisco.
28:03Philadelphia
28:04finally mounting a drive.
28:06There's a hole
28:06for Pierce
28:07and he accelerates
28:08through for a first down
28:09into Carolina territory.
28:11He's brought down
28:12at the 42.
28:13That's another gain
28:14of nine.
28:15Good block from Goddard.
28:16And Markel Bell,
28:18the big rookie
28:18right tackle.
28:19Goddard gets in there.
28:20Watch Markel Bell
28:21get up on the second level
28:23on the linebacker,
28:24O'Karake.
28:25That's supposed to be
28:26Markel Bell's weakness.
28:28He's 6'9", 346.
28:30Not considered overly athletic
28:32at the second level
28:34but getting the job done there.
28:35Back-to-back good runs
28:36for the Eagles
28:37to the right.
28:38That was Lane Johnson's spot.
28:39The six-time Pro Bowler
28:41retired and Bell
28:43now manning
28:44the right tackle position.
28:45Bouncing off is Pierce.
28:48Pierce knew
28:49there was going to be
28:49a collision
28:50as he gets back
28:51around the line
28:52of scrimmage.
28:53No gain on the play.
28:55Another NFL Today update.
28:56Back to New York
28:57and Adam.
28:57Ian Ross,
28:58third and seven
28:59for the Giants.
29:00Jameis Winston
29:01hits Tyron Tracy.
29:03Take a look
29:04at these moves.
29:05This is pretty sweet
29:06right here.
29:07Diving into the end zone.
29:08Seven-nothing Giants
29:09leading the Saints.
29:10Back to you.
29:11Adam,
29:12they have a bunch
29:12of running backs
29:13the Giants do
29:14and they're working
29:15them all
29:15into the fray.
29:18Phillips remains
29:19on the sideline
29:20without a helmet.
29:22Meanwhile,
29:22Philadelphia
29:23is driving
29:24on Carolina
29:25with Pierce
29:26in the backfield.
29:27McKee,
29:28soft toss
29:29and Pierce
29:30couldn't handle it.
29:31Incomplete.
29:34Again,
29:34you're talking about
29:35backup quarterback,
29:37backup running back,
29:38everybody trying
29:39to find their footing here.
29:41Pierce not really known
29:42for what he does
29:43in the passing game.
29:44I think that's why
29:45Carson Steele
29:46was out there
29:47for some of these
29:48third downs,
29:49but with no Steele,
29:51I think Pierce
29:52is going to have
29:52to be out there.
29:53I don't know
29:53how much they really
29:54want Jaden Blue
29:55to play in his first game
29:57as an Eagle
29:57up off the practice squad.
30:004-0-3 remaining
30:02here in the opening quarter.
30:03It's third and ten
30:04for the Eagles.
30:07They've been limited
30:08to 26 yards
30:09of offense
30:10and another throw
30:11under duress.
30:13Carolina gets a piece
30:15of the McKee toss
30:16at its fourth down.
30:20They timed up
30:21the blitz perfectly
30:24and Okereke
30:25able to hit
30:26McKee's arm
30:27as he's trying
30:28to let go of it.
30:29And that's Pierce
30:29right there
30:31in blitz pickup.
30:33So now you have
30:34a running back
30:35that's not really known
30:36for what he does
30:36in the passing game,
30:38dropping a pass
30:39on second down
30:40and not getting
30:41the job done
30:42in blitz pickup
30:43on third down.
30:44Braden Mann
30:44just shifted out
30:45of the punter's position.
30:46It's fourth and ten.
30:51Philadelphia is
30:53trying to get Carolina
30:54to fight
30:55and they will absorb
30:57the violation.
30:59Five-yard penalty
31:01fourth down.
31:02So it's based
31:02on where they are
31:03on the field
31:04to create five more
31:05yards to kick it.
31:07Yeah, so on the one hand
31:10you think,
31:10well, why would you do
31:11that on fourth and ten
31:12to only get five yards?
31:14I think the answer is
31:15if they got five more yards
31:16they would try
31:17a Jake Elliott field goal.
31:20and they don't care
31:21about a delay game
31:23and the Panthers
31:24are going to decline it
31:24because they don't want
31:25to make it easier
31:26for Mann to try
31:27to pin them
31:27inside the ten here.
31:30So we're right back
31:31where we started
31:32with Mann putting it away.
31:35Eight champ.
31:37Fair catch caught for.
31:39And it's David Moore
31:40who was over there
31:42and he brings it in
31:43after the 28-yard punt.
31:45So Carolina
31:46will get the football back.
31:483-0 Panthers
31:50here in the first.
31:54These amazing shots
31:56of today's game
31:56are provided by
31:58Nationwide.
32:00Carolina in front
32:013-0.
32:02They have welcomed
32:03the return of right tackle
32:04Taylor Moten.
32:06Blood clots
32:07were discovered
32:08back in June
32:09and Moten
32:11has not played
32:12until this week.
32:13Obviously got the clearance
32:16from everybody
32:17on the medical staff
32:18and they're just thrilled
32:20to have him back.
32:21The vibes that he brings
32:22to the locker room,
32:22the leadership.
32:23Dave Canales said
32:24he's like that fun uncle.
32:26Young throws
32:27and it's a bullet.
32:30Connection made
32:30with Coker.
32:32First down, Carolina.
32:33A lot of velocity
32:35on that throw
32:35from Young
32:36for 19 yards.
32:37And again,
32:38it's the middle
32:39of the field.
32:40The Panthers
32:41are trying to attack
32:42the middle of the field.
32:43It's zone coverage there.
32:45Coker gets behind
32:46the linebackers.
32:48Makuba looked like
32:49he was up
32:49in almost a robber position,
32:52but just running away
32:53from Wool in the corner
32:54to the middle of the field.
32:55That's where the Panthers
32:56are feasting so far.
32:58Coker is back.
32:59He missed the previous game
33:01with a quad injury.
33:03On the ground.
33:04Nice spin by Hubbard.
33:06Picks up three yards.
33:08Well earned
33:09as he crosses
33:09the 35-yard line.
33:11Tackle made by
33:14Ebikati.
33:14Let's go down to Evan.
33:15Guys, gorgeous weather,
33:17but we've seen
33:17the impact of the sun
33:19for this Panthers team,
33:20but also the Eagles
33:21on a punt return.
33:22It's heading
33:23in this direction,
33:24so the Eagles
33:25going right to left
33:26on your screen
33:27for the Panthers.
33:28So any pass
33:29where they've got to come
33:29and track it in the air,
33:31it's going to be impacted.
33:32Why about so much?
33:33Yeah, no doubt.
33:33Covey lost one early
33:36because of the sun.
33:38It's Hubbard,
33:39and there's nothing there.
33:40They'll give him
33:41a gain of one.
33:42That's it.
33:43He's going to set up
33:43third down here
33:44for the Panthers.
33:45Two and a half to go
33:46in this first quarter.
33:47Davis and Ebikati combining.
33:51One of the keys
33:52for the Eagles
33:53is to get them
33:54in third
33:55and more than five
33:56so that the Panthers
33:57can't really use
33:58the RPO game.
34:00I mean, they can,
34:01but I don't think
34:02the Eagles
34:02are going to be
34:04honoring the run
34:05that much.
34:06Try to put them
34:06in more obvious
34:07passing situations
34:08like this
34:09as much as you
34:10possibly can.
34:11This is the fourth
34:12youngest starting offense
34:13in the NFL
34:14behind Miami,
34:15Cleveland,
34:15and the Chargers.
34:16Carolina facing
34:17a third and six.
34:19Young.
34:20Knocked out!
34:24Jalen Carter,
34:26who is an absolute
34:27game wrecker,
34:29gets in there
34:30for Philly.
34:32So this is just
34:33so good by Carter,
34:35and I'll tell you why.
34:36They're sliding to him.
34:38He's double teamed.
34:39He knows he's cooked,
34:40right?
34:40If they're
34:41double teaming you,
34:42you're not going to
34:43get to the quarterback,
34:44so then put your hand up.
34:46I mean, Bryce Young
34:46is not even 5'11".
34:48You know there's
34:49no chance you're
34:50going to get a rush
34:51against a true
34:52double team like that.
34:53That's a heads-up move
34:55by Carter.
34:55Big time play.
34:56This is the fifth
34:57punt of the opening
34:58quarter.
34:59They bring the heat!
35:02It's a short kick
35:04with two flags down.
35:07There was some
35:07contact there.
35:10Sam Martin
35:12with James Newby
35:14off the practice
35:15squad getting in there.
35:17The question is
35:18whether or not
35:19James Newby
35:19got a piece
35:20of the football
35:21or not.
35:22Running into the kicker,
35:24receiving team
35:25number 50.
35:26Five-yard penalty,
35:28fourth down.
35:29Remember,
35:29it was fourth and six.
35:33So the five-yard penalty,
35:34he makes this
35:35a fourth and one.
35:36Didn't look like
35:36he got a piece
35:37of the ball at all.
35:38Just contact
35:39with Martin
35:40on the rush.
35:42Well, it's weird
35:43because it was
35:44not a good punt
35:45by Martin
35:46and the way
35:46it came off his foot.
35:49I thought James Newby
35:50did get a piece of it,
35:51but we've watched it
35:52a bunch of times.
35:53Does he get a fingertip?
35:54Maybe.
35:56Maybe a fingertip.
35:59Interestingly,
36:00the Panthers
36:01are going to keep
36:02their punt team
36:03out there.
36:04It's a yard
36:05and three quarters,
36:06so probably a little
36:07bit further
36:08than Canales
36:09would want to go for.
36:10Canales has been
36:11fairly aggressive
36:12during his tenure
36:13on fourth downs
36:14in Carolina.
36:14Special teams coach
36:15Tracy Smith
36:16in his third year
36:17with the franchise.
36:19And Sam Martin
36:21in his 14th year
36:22as a punter
36:23in the NFL.
36:23This is a high-sailing kick.
36:26Covey gets out of the way.
36:27The ball bounces
36:28inside the 10
36:29and rolls
36:30through the back
36:31of the end zone.
36:32So, 58-yard kick,
36:33but a net of 48.
36:36Philadelphia is going
36:37to get the football
36:38back at the 20.
36:39They might have to
36:39check out that
36:40left hand
36:40of Martin.
36:42139 to play
36:43in the first.
36:48Every week,
36:49all season long,
36:50we'll see you Sunday
36:51with the NFL
36:52on CBS
36:52and Paramount+.
36:57Philadelphia takes over
36:58at its own
36:5920-yard line.
37:00First 10 attempts
37:01for Tanner McKee,
37:04the 26-year-old
37:05from Corona, California.
37:07Said he grew up
37:08watching a lot
37:10of Peyton Manning,
37:10just loved his command.
37:12And then,
37:13Drew Brees came out
37:15to California
37:15and he watched
37:16Brees practice
37:17and became a huge
37:18fan of his
37:20when he was
37:21at 8th grade.
37:23That one is a hit
37:24on the sideline
37:25to Dallas Goddard.
37:26Could turn out
37:27to be McKee's
37:29security blanket
37:29here today.
37:30That's good
37:30for 9 yards.
37:31His backup quarterback
37:33is Cole Payton.
37:34He's a rookie
37:34out of North Dakota
37:35State.
37:36A lefty,
37:37dual threat,
37:38two-time FCS
37:39national champion
37:41fifth-round pick
37:42in this past draft.
37:43Well,
37:44and the Eagles
37:44kept four quarterbacks
37:46at the 53-man roster
37:48cut down.
37:49Obviously,
37:49Jalen Hurts
37:50and Andy Dalton
37:50as well.
37:51It's crazy how quickly
37:52you're a play away
37:53if you're Cole Payton.
37:55Motion man
37:56is Elijah Moore.
37:57This is a second down
37:58and one for Philly.
38:00And that didn't fool
38:02anybody.
38:02Carolina converges
38:04on Damian Pierce
38:05led by the rookie
38:06Lee Hunter.
38:08And Trayvon Merrig,
38:10a chess piece
38:10for Philly,
38:12Carolina on defense
38:13makes the play.
38:15So there's just
38:16no way Darius Cooper
38:17is going to be able
38:17to make that block
38:18on the backside.
38:19They have to get
38:20out of that play
38:21or call something
38:23different because
38:23Cooper's outside
38:25of the tight end.
38:27Goddard Merrig's
38:28hitting the B-gap
38:29between the guard
38:29and the tackle.
38:31That's just not
38:31going to work.
38:32That's how you lose
38:33three yards.
38:33And that's five plays
38:35for negative yards
38:35now for Philadelphia.
38:37This is a third down
38:37and four.
38:38It was second down
38:39and one.
38:41Get rid of it
38:42and right at the sticks.
38:45Catch made by Goddard
38:47and it's going to be
38:48enough for a first down.
38:51Carolina believes
38:52they stopped him.
38:53The ruling on the field
38:54as the women's forward
38:55progress will stop.
38:56First down.
38:58Well, they pick up
38:59five yards
38:59and that's going to be
39:00the final play
39:01of this opening quarter.
39:03Philadelphia will move
39:04the chains.
39:05They trail Carolina
39:063-0 at the end
39:09of one.
39:10Second quarter.
39:11Action coming up.
39:12Carolina and Philadelphia.
39:14The Panthers are 2-2.
39:15The Eagles are 2-3
39:17trying to put an end
39:18to a three-game losing streak.
39:24Not a ton of offense
39:26in the opening quarter.
39:2778 total yards
39:28for Carolina.
39:29Just 37 for Philadelphia.
39:33Eagles have been outscored
39:3430-3 in first quarter
39:37so far on this young season.
39:39It's week six.
39:45First down for Philadelphia
39:46to open play here
39:47in the second.
39:48Pierce in the backfield.
39:49Fake it.
39:50McKee.
39:50Step.
39:51Deliver downfield.
39:52And it's hauled in
39:53with a flag down.
39:54Caught at midfield
39:56by Cooper.
39:57But the penalty marker
39:58was thrown back
39:59at the 24.
40:00Off this number 83.
40:03Ten-yard penalty.
40:04First down.
40:06They are blitzing
40:09almost every time
40:10they're under center.
40:11Watch Lloyd here.
40:12When they're under center,
40:14they're thinking it's
40:14boot or play action.
40:15So here comes Lloyd
40:16and Johnny Munt
40:18hooks him.
40:19Gave him just enough time
40:21to deliver the ball
40:22to Cooper.
40:23If Munt was able
40:24to get a better block
40:25without hooking Lloyd
40:26there,
40:27it would have been
40:28an explosive play
40:29for the Eagles.
40:30But I don't think
40:30we've seen an under center
40:32play for the Birds yet
40:33where the Panthers
40:35have not blitzed.
40:36Well, the penalty
40:37against Ted and Johnny Munt.
40:40Back it up now.
40:41First and 20
40:42for Philadelphia.
40:44Back of the Eagles,
40:4621.
40:46Pistol formation.
40:48Swing it out.
40:49Behind the line
40:50of scrimmage, Pierce.
40:52Trying to make
40:53a couple of moves
40:54and Carolina was
40:55fully prepared for him.
40:57It's a loss of two
40:58on the play.
40:59NFL Today update.
41:00Let's go back
41:01to Adam Schein.
41:02All right.
41:02Ross, Jalen Daniels
41:04to a wide open
41:05Omeka Abuka
41:06for a touchdown
41:07and he celebrates
41:08by hitting
41:09the Iron Eagle.
41:10Look at his score.
41:1110-0.
41:12Back to you.
41:13Yeah, that's happened
41:14at many a wedding
41:15on the dance floor.
41:16Many.
41:183-0 lead here
41:19for Carolina.
41:20Lead, lead, lead.
41:21Tampa Bay
41:22just trying to
41:24keep pace
41:25right now
41:26in the NFC South
41:28with Carolina
41:29currently leading
41:30the division
41:30at 2-2.
41:31Second and 22
41:33for Philly.
41:35McKee got rid
41:36of it quickly.
41:37He's got his target.
41:38Got it.
41:39And he's brought down
41:40to the 29
41:41by Nick Scott.
41:43Sent it down
41:44to Evan Washburn.
41:44All right,
41:45a couple injury updates
41:46for you.
41:46Carson Steele,
41:47good news,
41:47he's back on the sideline
41:48winning the locker room.
41:49It's a right shoulder
41:50injury that he's
41:52working through.
41:53Now for Carolina,
41:54Jalen Phillips,
41:54as you mentioned,
41:55came into this game
41:56questionable
41:56with a hamstring injury.
41:57It's that left hamstring
41:59he's listed
41:59as questionable
42:00right now.
42:01He's trying to work
42:01through it,
42:02as you can see
42:02on this Panther sideline.
42:04Now Phillips,
42:05who was with Philadelphia
42:06previously
42:07when he was traded
42:08from Miami,
42:09said he really enjoyed
42:10his time with the Eagles.
42:11One of the best things
42:12to ever happen to him
42:13when that deal
42:14took place.
42:15And right now
42:16he's just trying
42:16to get himself
42:17back on the field
42:18for Carolina.
42:19This is a third
42:19and 12.
42:20Here comes the rush.
42:22McKee,
42:23it's too high.
42:25Octavian Wicks
42:26in a matchup
42:27with the rookie
42:27Will Lee.
42:29Fourth down.
42:31They did a decent job
42:33this time
42:34of slowing the pressure
42:35down a little bit
42:36so that McKee
42:37could throw it,
42:38still had to throw it
42:39earlier than he wanted to.
42:41And that's pretty good
42:42coverage there
42:43by Lee.
42:44You know,
42:45he looked pretty good
42:45to me
42:46against the Lions
42:47in the Sunday night game.
42:48It was Evans
42:49on the other side
42:50that struggled mightily.
42:52Ross,
42:52that's four possessions
42:53for Philadelphia,
42:55four punts.
42:56Brady Mann,
42:57a busy man
42:58as he's punting
42:58to A-Chan
42:59from the 18.
43:01Makes one man miss.
43:02A-Chan cuts it
43:03to the outside.
43:03He's got some room.
43:05And A-Chan
43:08shuffles across
43:09the 40-yard line
43:10with a penalty marker
43:11down at the 47.
43:21to have an injured
43:23Panther on the play
43:25after the 53-yard punt,
43:2723-yard return.
43:33And as mentioned,
43:34they have to sort
43:35through the penalty.
43:42personal foul,
43:44illegal blindside block,
43:45receiving team,
43:47number 81.
43:48That 15-yard penalty
43:50will be enforced
43:51from the spot
43:51of the foul.
43:52First down,
43:53timeout.
43:54And there's concern
43:55here for Inkoom
43:57as the penalty
43:57was called
43:58against Felipe Franks.
44:01Inkoom on his feet.
44:02He's going to need
44:02some help
44:03to the sideline.
44:03We'll step aside.
44:08The new season
44:09of Boston Blue
44:10is here.
44:11Starring Donnie Wahlberg
44:13and Sadiqla Martin-Green.
44:15All new CBS Friday
44:1610, 9 Central
44:17and streaming
44:17on Paramount+.
44:21Well, the good news
44:22for Philadelphia,
44:23their defense
44:24has been outstanding.
44:25They're going against
44:26one of the best offenses
44:27in the NFL this season.
44:29Carolina comes in
44:30number three
44:30in total offense.
44:32The bad news is
44:33Eagles have
44:34done nothing
44:35on the offensive end.
44:39Panthers take over
44:40at the 23,
44:41fake the handoff.
44:42Young will put it
44:43in the air
44:43and he drops it
44:44in the bucket
44:45at the 43
44:46to Jalen Coker.
44:48Well placed.
44:49And Smith is down
44:51on the play
44:52for Philadelphia.
45:03Smith working against
45:05Moten and Chuba Hubbard
45:06comes with a heck
45:08of a chip block.
45:09Totally legal.
45:11Exactly what you want
45:12from the running back
45:13in that situation.
45:18But the collision
45:19obviously
45:21was enough
45:22to injure
45:22Nolan Smith.
45:23Let's hope he's okay.
45:28The NFL on CBS
45:31is sponsored by
45:33Uber Eats.
45:34When football
45:35makes you hungry,
45:36order Uber Eats.
45:38American Express,
45:40the official payments
45:41partner of the NFL.
45:43And by Pepsi.
45:45Bring great taste
45:46to your game day.
45:47Tailgating deserves Pepsi.
45:53Positive update here
45:54for the Eagles.
45:55Nolan Smith
45:55got up on his feet,
45:57walked off
45:58to the Philadelphia
45:58sideline.
46:01This was the play
46:02where Smith
46:03took a shot
46:04from Hubbard.
46:10Both teams now
46:11are very thin
46:12at the outside
46:13linebacker position.
46:14They're both losing guys
46:16and they already
46:16came into the game
46:17banged up there.
46:18Carolina has it
46:19at the 42-12-24.
46:22Clock is moving
46:22here in the second quarter.
46:243-0 Panthers.
46:25Long count
46:26on the boot.
46:29A toss to the outside
46:31and Coker makes
46:32a play after the catch.
46:33He got away
46:34from Dejean
46:35enough to get
46:36the first down.
46:38This is really
46:39why you run
46:39these bootlegs
46:40because you hope
46:41to get easy
46:42completions
46:43away from it.
46:44You know,
46:45Dejean had to honor
46:46that it might be a run.
46:48That's tough duty
46:49for him
46:49to then backtrack
46:51on an out route
46:52the other way.
46:54See Vic Fangio
46:55actually was the
46:55D coordinator
46:56the first year
46:57for the Carolina Panthers
46:59when they were
47:00an expansion team.
47:01He said,
47:01we were 0-5
47:02until Sam Mills
47:04had to pick six
47:05and turn things around.
47:08Yeah, it's a handoff
47:09up the middle
47:09for Hubbard
47:10and he carries it
47:11for five.
47:13Dejean got in there
47:14for Philly.
47:17I'm a big fan
47:18of Chuba Hubbard.
47:20You know,
47:21Dave Canales
47:21told us yesterday
47:22he runs with violence.
47:24He's an overworker
47:26to the point
47:26where they have
47:27to tell him
47:28to no longer
47:29run to the end zone
47:30after every carry
47:31in practice.
47:32He likes to sprint
47:33to the end zone.
47:34They say,
47:34hey, we need you
47:35ready to roll
47:36on Sunday.
47:37Chill out a little bit.
47:38They called him
47:39a grinder.
47:42The throw from Young
47:44is caught by Evans
47:46downfield
47:48with a flag down
47:49on the play.
47:52Was there an illegal
47:53man downfield
47:54is the question
47:55right now
47:56for Carolina.
48:02Working in multiple
48:03tight ends.
48:07Tremble, Waller.
48:08The offense
48:09downfield illegally
48:10number 50.
48:12Five-yard penalty
48:13second down.
48:15And it's Robert Hunt
48:16a pro bowler.
48:18So he can only
48:19be one-yard
48:20downfield.
48:21Watch Hunt
48:22the right guard.
48:23The ball is
48:24on the 40.
48:25So as soon as
48:26he gets past
48:27the 39-yard line,
48:30that's a penalty.
48:31He's okay
48:31until right there.
48:32Yep.
48:33Oh, man.
48:34That is super
48:35unfortunate
48:35for the Panthers.
48:37If Hunt just
48:37throttled down,
48:38that would have
48:38been a big game.
48:40Second and 10
48:41for Carolina.
48:42Young is 7 of 10
48:43for 99 yards.
48:47Young.
48:48will fire.
48:51Trying to go down
48:52low for it.
48:53Mechie could not
48:54bring it in.
48:55It's incomplete.
48:55It's third and 10.
49:09What do you think
49:09the difference has been
49:10for Young
49:11in year number four?
49:12He just looks
49:13so much
49:14more comfortable
49:15in the system.
49:16He's been getting
49:17rid of the ball
49:17so quickly.
49:19Eagles done a pretty
49:20good job
49:21for the most part
49:22of trying to get him
49:23in these third
49:24and long situations.
49:25He's on pace
49:26for 5,389 yards,
49:29but he's going to get
49:30no yards
49:30on that third down
49:31throw to Waller.
49:34and the Carolina
49:35offense has been
49:38neutralized by this
49:39Philadelphia defense.
49:41Yeah, a lot of times
49:42you talk with coaches
49:42and they'll say
49:43a great defense
49:45will beat a great
49:46offense all the time.
49:47It's almost like
49:48pitching in baseball.
49:49and right now
49:50the Eagles defense
49:52is pitching
49:53a really good game.
49:54Vic Fangio

50:14after this.
50:18State Farm

50:23from Tobika, Kansas.
50:24Wait, me?
50:24Since you love
50:25sweet, sentimental stuff
50:26I do.
50:26Here's a lost dog
50:28returning home.
50:29Mom!
50:31And we also know
50:32you're a fan of football.

50:50Carolina leads
50:51at 3-0.
50:52Can Philadelphia
50:53get something going
50:54on offense?
50:56Tanner McKee
50:56was one of those guys
50:57that really flashed
50:58in previous preseasons
51:00and people around
51:01the NFL
51:02took notice
51:03that he could be
51:04one of those players
51:05that has a future
51:06as a QB1
51:07getting the opportunity
51:08here
51:09with Jalen Hurts
51:10on IR.
51:12Makai Lemon
51:13with a modest gain
51:14of four yards
51:15on the pass
51:16from McKee.
51:18It was interesting
51:19too, Ian,
51:19because this was
51:20probably his worst
51:22preseason
51:22of the four
51:23that he's had.
51:24He was competing
51:25for the backup job
51:26with Andy Dalton
51:28and there was just
51:29a contrast
51:30because Dalton
51:31was very familiar
51:32with the system
51:32where it was totally
51:34new for McKee.
51:35He did tell us
51:36yesterday he feels
51:37a hundred times
51:38more comfortable
51:39now than he did
51:40in August.
51:42Second and six.
51:45McKee uncorks it
51:46and it's off the hands
51:48of his intended target,
51:49Dallas Goddard.
51:51Incomplete.
51:54And that's a good throw.
51:56You know,
51:57when you have a backup
51:57quarterback out there,
51:59you need guys like
52:00Dallas Goddard
52:01to make plays for him.
52:02Whether it's Devontae Smith,
52:04Goddard,
52:04or Wicks,
52:05those are the plays
52:06the Eagles are going
52:07to have to make
52:07to move the football
52:08with McKee
52:09and these backup
52:11offensive linemen.
52:13Third NFL start
52:14for McKee,
52:15but the first one
52:16that wasn't week 18,
52:17which he did
52:18in 2024,
52:192025.
52:22Third and six.
52:24McKee in the pocket.
52:26And nobody home.
52:28Receiver went down.
52:29Flag is...
