00:00I've got real big feelings about the Muse Charm in particular
00:04Tamagotchi fan over here
00:05I've said on the podcast before, I'll take any excuse to talk about Tamagotchi
00:08This ain't it
00:09The thing with the Muse Charm, right?
00:11There's multiple levels where I think it's bad
00:14But starting from the beginning of this story
00:17There's been a lot of hype and conversation around this meta wearable for a while
00:21And part of that is because they have one of Apple's previous design chiefs, Alan Dye
00:26On the team to build this
00:28Quite notable given the fact it kind of looks like a strapless Apple watch
00:32But then that is just black Kirby square
00:34Kind of hard to reinvent the wheel, I suppose, on that one
00:39If we move past the sort of like, this sounds dumb, why would I want it in my pocket
00:43I think there's something a little bit dog whistly about the way they're marketing it
00:48So yes, there's the Tamagotchi comparison
00:50You've got this cute little personalizable character on there
00:55There's like four different versions
00:56You can do a mango
00:58Little doughboy looking thing
01:00He's the best one
01:01A golden retriever
01:03And a piece of toast wearing glasses or sunglasses
01:06An interesting array, right?
01:08They're a keychain or a pocket accessory
01:10And I think the most dog whistly thing is they're releasing right before Christmas
01:13And to me, all of this adds up to say
01:16It's labububifying AI
01:18And that's boring
01:19It's the Gen Z's and it's the young people they're going for
01:22And I really don't like that
01:25Because we are of the generation, most of us in this room
01:28Who put pretty much all of our personal data into Meta's hands once already
01:33When we went on Facebook and posted every time we were eating a bagel
01:37What school we went to
01:38All of our friends, a lot of our personal information
01:40We've already seen that go badly once as well
01:44AI is a whole other kettle of fish
01:48And I think cynically speaking
01:51A product that feels quite designed for young people
01:54To get that whole new generation of data
01:57Is bad
01:59It's bad
02:00And I'm not the only one who's made that comparison
02:01I'm not the only one who's made that commentary
02:03I'm not by any means saying something completely original here
02:06I just, I feel real, real bad about it
02:08I don't know about you guys
02:09I just, I feel real, real bad about it
