00:06First of all, a big thanks to the fans again. Amazing tonight.
00:11Cup Finals, the Cup Finals. I've played in quite a few.
00:16With teams, they're always tricky.
00:20I'm proud of these boys for what they've given to each other, to this country.
00:24I'm proud of the fans for staying with us right until that last penalty kick and Emil Adair was saved.
00:32It's a proud moment for Indonesia, first trophy in history.
00:36This man here scored that goal and he's helped us become that group of people.
00:43And that was the mission. No matter how hard it would be or how long it was going to take,
00:49the only thing that mattered was to lift a trophy for you guys, for this country and to make you
00:55guys proud.
00:57So again, thank you for everyone that came out tonight and supported us.
01:02First things first, Cup Finals. Cup Finals. I mean, they're going to be decided in moments.
01:10They're going to be decided by might and mentality, a spirit, a grip to win.
01:17And then penalties. We practiced them yesterday.
01:20We spent a lot of time with our boys, just working through some of the mental processes.
01:26Each player was given opportunity. We analyzed players that were taken.
01:32And the guys who took the penalties were the ones that were more clinical yesterday in the preparation.
01:39So Elton Bagdad being one of them. I told him to go and score with his head.
01:46But, yeah, he was fantastic. Dean James, Shane Patayama.
01:53You know, these boys were super clinical in the finishing yesterday.
01:57And some of the strikers weren't. And they weren't confident.
02:01Often when you haven't been able to do it in training, you give it to the boys that seem to
02:07be informed.
02:08So we always practice these things and practice pays off.
02:13Yeah, firstly, I'd just like to say thank you for all the support from all the fans.
02:20I'm so proud to be Indonesian today.
02:24And I just want to give a special mention to our coach.
02:27Like, there's no chance we would have won this without him today.
02:34So I just want to say thank you for all your work and for the rest of the coaching staff
02:40as well
02:40and all the people behind the scenes. You know, they put so much time and effort into making sure that
02:45we can perform our best.
02:46And, you know, we've had games every three days here. It's not been easy.
02:52And so much work behind the scenes has gone into making us feel as ready as possible for the next
02:59game.
03:01So it's not just us on the pitch. It's a win for the whole team and all the staff as
03:06well.
03:08I think we've just shown we are the kings of Southeast Asia.
03:13You know, the coach actually showed us a montage earlier before in the hotel of all the times we've lost
03:22in the finals.
03:24And that was actually a clip from the final of the AFF, you know, where we conceded against Thailand.
03:31And, yeah, it's been some journey. You know, so much has changed in the Federation and so many new faces
03:43are here as well.
03:44But one thing is for sure is we all love and want to represent this country.
03:51And, yeah, like I say, I'm so proud of the Indonesian today and we are the kings of Southeast Asia.
03:59Yeah, I mean, just don't know what Elton said. It's been six finals. They're hard to win.
04:06And, again, I always say, back out of the door here, put his trust in me and my staff and
04:12the team behind the team.
04:15Elton Baggett and the players that they've worked hard to bring to this country.
04:20These players are adapting to the conditions here. They're getting stronger as a unit mentally.
04:26I think people, they don't understand how important the team spirit, the brotherhood that you create is.
04:36Tactics are one thing, but in cup finals, tactics go out the window.
04:40You know, this is part of it. It's about the spirit. It's about a will.
04:45It's about having a deeper purpose and an emotional connection to your brothers.
04:50That's what we're building here. So a lot of these brothers will be back because the experiences they're building are
04:58part of the foundation for our future.
05:01We have this in Canada. We have watershed moments when we beat the USA for the first time in 36
05:08years.
05:10Step by step, you build a different mentality in the group.
05:14But there are other faces. We've got Mies Hildes, Miriam Yonatans. We've got Marcelino.
05:23There are other players. There are other players we are currently monitoring and hoping to bring as part of this
05:30team.
05:31And as always, I'm watching. I live in Indonesia. I watch every game, the local games.
05:38My son's playing at Bali, so I watch a bit of Bali United. I'm watching the local leagues to see
05:44which players can come through.
05:47I'm really hoping we can create that Alphonso Davies of Indonesia, that next, next, next player who's going to go
05:58and play Champions League from this country.
05:59We're always watching. And I know Coach Nova is doing a great job with our U20 team.
06:06A big moment, beating Australia. So taking steps. The country is taking steps forward.
06:12And a lot of this is down to Padere Togia and his vision to drive this place to trophies and
06:20winning.
06:21He wanted a championship team. He told me I had to lift the trophy. Well, we did. We did.
06:32Yeah, obviously the experience of losing in Singapore to Thailand hurts.
06:38So for sure it was an extra motivation today to win the game.
06:44Like Coach said, it's a final and actually I wouldn't have wanted to win the game any other way.
06:53You know, we were hit with so much adversity today.
06:58It went down to ten men and then we concede. We scorn and concede and then we concede an extra
07:03time.
07:04And yeah, it's so much better. It's amazing to win the way we did with Emile making that last penalty
07:14save.
07:16But for sure there was extra motivation coming into today against Thailand as well.
07:22Marked the AFF in 2020. Yeah, it feels like ages ago.
07:29Yeah, I mean, I went out and scored. I literally, I think, turned around and was trying to get the
07:36penalties sorted very quickly.
07:38Because I knew it just changed the course of the game. And this is what happens in finals moments.
07:43So I think I was on with one of the assistant coaches to get the penalty takers set.
07:49And I wondered whether I was going to leave Elton still up there to see if he could get another
07:56goal.
07:57He was enjoying himself in that centre-forward role.
08:01But I mean, it's just crazy. It's been a crazy experience.
08:05This tournament's been wild. I've been playing in southeast stages. Wild.
08:11And it takes mental fortitude before anything to lift trophies here.
08:16I have to say, you know, Thailand were excellent tonight. Very resilient.
08:23They showed that they've been in finals and lifted trophies before.
08:27They had that experience and they had that killer instinct.
08:32But I think we showed that we won't roll over anymore. For anyone.
08:38We'll be in it till the end. And again, just proud of my staff, the players and everyone in PSSI
08:48that have helped bring this moment.
08:53You know, I think in moments, this is very special. Very special. Since I moved to Indonesia, I realized how
09:05much it means to people. Football is life.
09:10In Canada. In Canada, we were just waking the country up with our achievement.
09:16And it was a special moment. But as I shared with the boys, my sister passed away three weeks later.
09:24So it was a really tough moment to try and celebrate a big achievement. And it was shadowed, I think,
09:31by that.
09:33This is special. This is really special.
09:37I run around GBK every day. And the people always say, coach. Three points, coach.
09:46We have to win, coach. We have to beat Malaysia. We have to lift the trophy, coach.
09:52A lot of pressure.
09:55And I think this is a big achievement for everyone. Special. Super special.
10:01And at the moment, it's my best football achievement.
10:05Because I shared it with a group of guys that I knew how much this meant to them.
10:12And the biggest decision, it was, you know, when we went in extra time.
10:19I was trying to get the team to be calm and trust the structure.
10:23And I was pushing the plus one center back joint.
10:26And I said to the guys, trust the structure.
10:31You will score from a plus one center back joint.
10:34You will score from it. Just trust the structure. Opposite, opposite rhythm.
10:39And Rusty thought I was asking them to hold back.
10:43And when he finally triggered, he could join.
10:45He joined and got on that under lap with Kevin.
10:49And they'd opened everything up for everything.
10:52So that was a really cool moment.
10:55Just seeing a local lad in Rusty.
11:00He scored against Bangladesh.
11:04And then an amazing assist today.
11:07I know how much it means to him to do this for his country.
11:11So, just so proud.
11:14I've not heard of any plans yet.
11:16But for sure there's some conversation in the changing room now.
11:21I've got no idea.
11:25Yeah, I'm in the plans for Asian Cup, AFC.
11:29This was part of the plan.
11:31It was about more tournament experience with this group.
11:35It was about more time together with a core group.
11:40We've clocked up maybe five training sessions in this period of time,
11:44which has been so many games.
11:46So we've got more work to do, of course.
11:49And you can see that, you know, as a group.
11:52We go through the first 25 minutes of the game and we looked top.
11:56It looked like we could have scored three or four.
11:59We didn't take our chances.
12:01And then we have that moment where we get sucked into a black hole and we allow teams to get
12:08on top of us.
12:09But then we fight back.
12:11So we've got work to do.
12:12We'll work with our games in November.
12:15We have two games planned.
12:17We'll announce them at the right time.
12:19But two good games.
12:23And then here's your cup.
12:24I mean, we get Thailand again.
12:28That's going to be another hell of a match.
12:30But we'll have our skipper back, Jay Estes, which, you know, that'll be an exciting moment.
12:35And I have to mention Kevin Dix.
12:36He's been outstanding this tournament.
12:39What a skipper to lead the team to the first trophy.
12:44But we look forward to Jay coming back as well.
12:46So I'll welcome some new players, I think, in the next six months.
12:51And players I haven't worked with that have come back from injury.
12:55So exciting times ahead for our country.
12:58And how do you tell a great authority, Jay?
13:01And you're the champion.
13:02So I'll chat back.
13:04Tiber, tiber, tiber.
13:08With my wife, Claire.
13:11I have to give a big value to Claire.
13:14She keeps everyone calm.
13:18And she's the best.
13:21Okay?
13:22Thank you, Coach.
13:23Thank you, everyone.
