The global outbreak of mutated acid rain caused by pollution led to barren lands, with no plants growing and food becoming scarce. Coming from a farming family, Ling Xiao was able to survive because there was still some stock in the family's grain warehouse. As food became increasingly scarce, the ugliness of people fighting for it made Ling Xiao feel as though he were in hell.
