00:05Africa has the energy resources and investors are looking at the opportunities.
00:10The challenge is getting projects off the ground.
00:12Here at the African Energy Week in Cape Town, the industry is talking about where billions
00:17of dollars could be invested and why some countries are moving faster than others.
00:22This year at AEW, we have already seen $10 billion worth of deals.
00:29Angola, for example, where we've seen A2 and Aegeus take over some of the legacy assets
00:36given by Chevron.
00:38We've also seen Senegal make significant announcements around gas projects in that country.
00:46And the same thing is Nigeria around what AMNI is doing and getting more gas for the
00:52train 7.
00:54We're looking at the Morocco-Nigeria pipeline, which is also going to be asking for significant
01:01investment dollars.
01:02That in itself, faced, is going to require far beyond the $10 billion that I said.
01:08And you can see the scale of the industry here on the exhibition floor from drilling technology
01:13to companies looking to invest in new projects.
01:16But having the resources isn't enough.
01:18South Africa needs to make it easier for projects to move forward, attract investment and turn
01:24that potential into jobs.
01:27We've got a very big opportunity.
01:30You know, I mean, you've got data centers, you've got a lot of gas, you need a lot of
01:35energy.
01:36You know, and I think we're going to have to do that to deal with unemployment.
01:40I mean, you know, just exploration, you know, and extracting that gas and oil, you know, brings
01:49unemployment down.
01:50But actually, imagine now if we actually get industries, you know, related industries.
01:55It becomes very powerful.
01:57African Energy Week runs until Friday with more deals expected.
02:01The real test will be whether that investment translates into projects, infrastructure and
02:06jobs, and how much of the economic benefit stays within African economies.
02:10African Energy Week runs until Friday, there are two nationalities and its own studies.
02:11African Energy Week runs until Friday, a few years ago, a decade will be adopted by the
02:12medium-sized countries.
02:12African Energy Week runs, including the nationalities and civilese events.
02:12Black Energy Week runs until Saturday, there are no different types of activities.
