00:27Welcome to DF Media Sports.
00:29I'm Emi, and what a night of tension, courage,
00:32and late drama we just witnessed.
00:34Nine-time champions Nigeria chasing Mission X,
00:37title number 10.
00:38Defending queens Banyana Banyana,
00:41fighting for the right to repeat.
00:42This one felt like a final.
00:44Naija came out hot.
00:45Inside five minutes?
00:46Joe, let's fly from range.
00:48Whistles wide.
00:49Early warning.
00:50First quarter hour?
00:51All Falcons.
00:52Pressing high.
00:53Stretching lines.
00:54Forcing panicked defending from the champs.
00:56Then the breakthrough.
00:57Penalty to Nigeria.
00:59Captain Rashidat Ajibade steps up.
01:01Ice in her veins.
01:03One Nino Super Falcons just before halftime.
01:06Nigeria won.
01:07South Africa zero at the break.
01:09And that's Ajibade's third career goal
01:11versus Banyana Banyana.
01:13Gives it away.
01:16Lucky for her.
01:17Nigeria gave it back to South Africa,
01:19but they have the ball again with Okoronko.
01:23Jamilusi.
01:25They won a handball.
01:28What has the referee decided to do?
01:30She's pointing.
01:31Was it purposeful?
01:35You can argue that all day long,
01:36but it doesn't look good.
01:38It doesn't look good at all.
01:40And I doubt that one will be overturned.
01:48Against Senegal.
01:50But that was a penalty shootout.
01:52This is an open play.
01:55Nigeria's captain, Ajibade,
01:57hasn't scored in the competition.
02:00Can she score her first?
02:01She does!
02:02A blow for the defending champions.
02:07And a first goal for Ajibade.
02:15Lamini punches the turf in.
02:18She loves this rivalry.
02:19Post-match, the captain told us
02:21this was about discipline.
02:23Different approach for a different opponent.
02:25Insert Ajibade clip.
02:26We came in with a different plan for this game.
02:29Once we stuck to it, things opened up.
02:31From your perspective?
02:33Yeah, we know it's going to be a difficult game
02:36because every game in this tournament
02:39has been different.
02:40We have different approach to each game.
02:42We're playing against a side that
02:43will understand the competitive nature.
02:45They are a very good side.
02:46They are a technical side.
02:47Of course, they are also a very intelligent side.
02:50We meet each other in different competitions
02:53like the Olympics and the Wafka
02:55and several times.
02:56We are ready for whatever is going to come our way.
02:59And of course, we are also a very physical, technical
03:04and also an intelligent side.
03:06So we are always ready for games like these.
03:09And these are the kind of games that we love to play
03:11as a team because this is where you see the best
03:13of the Superfarkers.
03:16So it was an interesting game.
03:18So initially, we thought that we are going to stick to our game plan.
03:22The game plan that Ed could give to us.
03:26So, yeah.
03:28Yeah.
03:29We know that if we stick to the game plan,
03:31it's going to be very easy to play against them,
03:34but we will be able to get the result three
03:36you want to get in the end.
03:37This is what happened today.
03:39Second half underway and South Africa grew into it.
03:4259 minutes Banyana level.

03:47Game back on.
03:48Coach Justin Madugu freshened midfield.
03:50Uchebe for Echeghini.
03:52Later, Abiodun for Allende to restore grip and energy.
03:55Ajibade admitted,
03:56when it went 1-1, we were a bit nervous,
03:58but we spoke to each other.
04:00Stay calm.
04:00Stay together.
04:01That huddle energy you saw,
04:03that was leadership.
04:16Super big pitch.
04:171-1.
04:201-1 is good.
04:21Then the another one wins it.
