00:00The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power is apologizing to residents of Pacific Palisades
00:05for delays in rebuilding after the fire. Residents have been complaining that it takes too long to
00:10reconnect to the grid and that complaints go unanswered for months. It's also somewhat odd
00:16that LADWP is apologizing now when many residents blame them for the reservoir in the area being
00:23empty at the time fire broke out in January 2025. Since the fire, LADWP has not been a good
00:30neighbor. It has done whatever it wants in the neighborhood. It has put up power poles and it has
00:35dug trenches and it even put up an entire facility in a neighborhood right up consulting the residents.
00:40One thing that is not a good sign is that the governor recently signed a bill in Sacramento
00:45that would exempt LADWP and other utilities from liability in the event of wildfires. That's a
00:51step in the wrong direction. Residents and ratepayers want to see accountability
00:56and that fundamentally is what's missing at LADWP.
