A dramatic controlled demolition has brought down 13 spans of the Tevere Viaduct near Orte, Italy, using carefully placed explosives. The operation took place on October 11, 2026, as part of a major reconstruction project on the SS 675 Umbro-Laziale highway.

The €41.5 million project includes rebuilding the affected carriageway and adding seismic isolation systems to improve safety and durability. This was a planned demolition—not an accidental bridge collapse.
