00:07raising fresh concerns over maritime security and the safety of seafarers in the strategically vital waterway.
00:14Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy said it had struck a third supertanker in the Strait of Hormuz, triggering a
00:22fire on board.
00:23According to Iran's state broadcaster, Press TV, the vessel allegedly ignored maritime warnings and switched off its navigation system before
00:33attempting to leave the strait.
00:35The IRGC Navy accused the tanker of violating its directives and disrupting security in the area.
00:42The reported incident marked the third vessel targeted in the strategic waterway within 48 hours, according to the information released
00:50by Iranian media.
00:51Independent confirmation of the Iranian military's account was not immediately available.
00:58Meanwhile, India has reported serious concerns following separate incidents involving commercial tankers carrying Indian seafarers.
01:07On October 11th, the Nicaraguan-flagged tanker M.T. Petro Dolphin, carrying 11 Indian seafarers, was subjected to a reported
01:17drone attack at Sohar Anchorage, off Oman.
01:21India's Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Sarbananda Sanoval, said nine crew members had been rescued and were safe,
01:30while two Indian nationals remained missing.
01:33Search and rescue operations were underway, with Indian authorities coordinating with their Omani counterparts.
01:39In a separate incident on October 11th, the Marshall Islands-flagged tanker Val Teira was struck by an unknown projectile
01:48in the Strait of Hormuz, resulting in a fire on board.
01:52Minister Sanoval confirmed that all 11 Indian seafarers aboard the vessel were safe.
01:58The circumstances surrounding the projectile strike remained unclear.
02:03These incidents followed another reported attack on October 9th, when the Panama-flagged crude oil tanker Jem Num 2 was
02:12targeted by a drone at Sharjah Anchorage.
02:14According to Sanoval, all 22 Indian seafarers aboard that vessel were safe.
02:21Amid the growing maritime concerns, Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ismail Bagai asserted that Tehran maintained control over the crucial energy
02:32corridor.
02:32Bagai warned that regional security could not be restored while foreign military aggression and economic blockades continued.
02:41He also rejected Washington's account of the situation, saying American claims did not reflect what Iran described as realities on
02:50the ground.
02:51Bagai further dismissed suggestions that Iran had lost its strategic leverage over the Strait of Hormuz, insisting that Tehran would
02:59continue pursuing its own course.
03:01The Strait of Hormuz is a critical global energy transit route, making security disruptions there a major concern for international
03:10shipping and energy markets.
