00:00UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham has accused Russia of interfering in the Brexit referendum 10 years
00:06ago, the first time a British Prime Minister has openly acknowledged Russian involvement in the
00:12historic vote. He also warns voters in France and Germany about potential Russian influence
00:18in upcoming elections. I don't think we knew back then the extent to which there was
00:25state-sponsored interference in the British democratic process. But I asked the question
00:32coming into Downing Street, well, was there interference in the 2016 referendum from Russia?
00:38And I've had the clear answer that yes, there was. And then these things are important now to put
00:43clearly on the record. And I believe help voters in Germany and France understand that some of this
00:50politics is instigated via our enemies, namely Russia. Burnham, however, did not provide further
01:00details about the type or extent of Moscow's interference in the referendum, where Britain
01:05decided to leave the European Union by a narrow margin of 52% to 48%. His statement contrasts with
01:12former Prime Minister Boris Johnson, who in 2020 denied the existence of evidence of Russian influence.
01:19Burnham also raised concerns to German Chancellor Friedrich Mertz about how the far-right party
01:24AFD is linked to Russia and there is misinformation stemming from Russia in German politics.
