Sixteen years ago, Emily was sold by the Stone family simply for being a girl. Her mother, furious and heartbroken, sent the entire Stone family to prison. Since then, she and her three sons have searched relentlessly for Emily.
Meanwhile, Emily has lived a life of abuse under her adoptive mother, who never celebrated her birthday and forced her to hand over all her hard-earned wages — just to buy expensive gifts for her adoptive brother’s girlfriend, Vivian.
