00:00A standard tank weighs over 60 tons. It's dense, compact armor. If you drop it in the water,
00:06gravity wins instantly. There's no contest, it sinks like a solid steel brick straight to the
00:11pitch black bottom. So how do these vehicles do it? Look at the shape. This is an amphibious
00:15assault vehicle, AAV. It looks boxy and huge, and that's the secret. It's essentially a giant
00:21metal hole built to capture a massive pocket of empty air inside. It floats the same way a giant
00:26cargo ship floats by displacing more water weight than its own heavy armor, pushing it up. Once it
00:31enters the deep water, it changes. The tracks gain traction for a moment, but then it switches gears.
00:36Watertight seals clamp down on every hatch. A metal screen at the front flips up to deflect big ocean
00:42waves, and propellers or water jets engage at the back, propelling the 30-ton vehicle through the
00:47ocean like a slow but unstoppable armored speedboat. It floats all the way in, and the moment it hits
00:52the sand, the transformation reverses, the driver shifts gears instantly, the water jets cut off,
00:57the land transmission kicks in, and those heavy steel tracks bite into the wet ground,
01:01turning an armored boat back into a roaring tank, charging right up onto dry land.
