The Aston Martin DBX S takes on the Lamborghini Urus as a more understated super SUV alternative, and this review digs into why it might be the smarter pick if you want something different from the crowd. With 717 horsepower from a 4.0L twin-turbo V8, the DBX S uses Valhalla-style turbos, hits 0 to 60 in about 3.1 seconds, and reaches a top speed just under 200 mph. It also brings aggressive updates like the DBS-style front grille, a roof spoiler, clear taillights, and stacked exhaust tips that give it a sharper look than the regular DBX 707. Inside, Aston Martin stays true to its luxury-first approach with leather, hand stitching, comfortable seats, and plenty of bespoke options, even if some of them are wildly expensive. The review also covers the optional magnesium wheels, xenon gray paint, rear-seat space, and the surprisingly tiny cup holders.

If you like super SUV reviews, Aston Martin car reviews, Lamborghini Urus comparisons, luxury SUV walkthroughs, and performance SUV specs, this is a great watch for shopping, comparison research, or just seeing how the DBX S stacks up against one of the most popular super SUVs on the market. The video also highlights the sound, styling, interior quality, and everyday usability that make the DBX S feel like a more elegant choice.

00:00It seems like everybody has a Lamborghini Urus these days, so much so that they call it the
00:03Miami Mazda. But if you want something different, something that's not going to blend in with the
00:06Miami traffic, then the Aston Martin DBX-S might be the car for you. Now up front, one of the
00:11biggest
00:11cosmetic changes in my opinion, one of the best cosmetic changes in my opinion, is the change of
00:15the front grille to a more DBS style look. I think it looks way more aggressive. And I think the
00:20DBX
00:21needs that because it's not necessarily a super flashy out there car that people are going to see
00:25go down the road and know that it's one of the fastest super SUVs on the market. So any aggressive
00:29detail that could be added to this car doesn't go unnoticed. So before the S came out, the 707 was
00:33the fastest SUV offering from Aston Martin, but now it's going to be the base model. And the base
00:38model is being completely discontinued, leaving you two options. Now this has a four liter twin
00:42turbo V8, same to the 707, but it uses the same turbos as the Aston Martin Valhalla, which is
00:47going to bring the total horsepower to 717, which is about 20 more than the 707 had. Now the top
00:52speed
00:53in zero to 60 are roughly the same between both models, which is a little bit unfortunate, but at
00:56the end of the day, this car is going to go zero to 60 in about 3.1 seconds, and
00:59it's going to reach
01:00a top speed just under 200 miles an hour. And for a family SUV, quite frankly, I don't think you
01:04need
01:04to go any faster than that. This also makes about 60 more horsepower than the Eurus Performante. And
01:08the reason that I don't compare it to the SE is because the SE has electric assist, which is
01:12obviously going to give it a boost in power. But this car and the Eurus Performante both share a four
01:16liter twin turbo V8 without any electric assist. Now I filmed a lot of Aston Martins, the DB12,
01:20the Vanquish, the Vantage. And one thing that I've realized is that Aston Martin loves
01:24optional equipment. And there are two options for your 23 inch wheels. You can go for the forged
01:29aluminum at no additional cost, or you can go for the lightweight magnesium wheels, which is going to
01:33shave 42 pounds off of this car. It's also going to shave about $22,000 off of your bank account.
01:38But at the end of the day, we're looking at a $350,000 car here. So if you can afford
01:42that,
01:42I'm pretty sure an extra 22 large isn't going to send you over the edge. But in my opinion,
01:46spending that much money for wheels is absolutely absurd considering these forged aluminum ones look
01:51pretty great. Speaking of options, one of the coolest ones is the xenon gray paint that has
01:55the most metallic flake I've ever seen on any car in my entire life. Aston Martin must have used all
02:00the flake at their factory. And at this point, I would imagine that they're undergoing a flake
02:03shortage because this paint is absolutely unbelievable. Now I think Aston Martin did a
02:07really good job on the back end of this car. You have a roof mounted spoiler, which makes the car
02:11look way more aggressive. These Aston Martin Vantage looking taillights that are clear instead of red,
02:15which I definitely prefer. And moving towards the bottom, you have these staggered and stacked exhaust tips,
02:19which remind me of a Lexus. And quite honestly, I wish more car companies did this because it looks
02:23really good. Now, not only do the exhaust tips look pretty cool, but the sound that comes out of
02:26them from the four liter twin turbo V8 is pretty great as well. So let's have a listen.
02:41Snap, crackle, pop. Now inside the DVX-S, it doesn't have that same sporty super SUV feel as a Lamborghini
02:46and there's certainly no fighter jet start stop button. But Aston Martin, in my opinion,
02:50is a company that's not trying to go for something sporty, flashy and in your face. They want quiet
02:54sophistication and an elegant car. And I think Aston Martin did a great job with that considering that
02:58everything is leather wrapped and hand stitched. Now, like I mentioned before, Aston Martin absolutely
03:02loves optional equipment on their cars. And a lot of that comes from bespoke interior options. You have
03:06a spicy red contrast stitching for $3,600, red seatbelts for a grand, an umbrella for 500,
03:13your interior pro pack leather in monotone is $7,200. Honestly, not quite sure what that is.
03:19And if you want the ventilated front and rear seats, that's going to be another $3,600. Now,
03:24yes, the options are very expensive, but everything in this car is incredibly well built, including
03:28these very comfortable leather seats that have red stitching, a red embroidered Aston Martin badge on
03:32your headrest and right below that an S badge. So you can be reminded that when you get in your
03:36car
03:36that it's not the base 707. This is the S. You have a nice size infotainment system and driver
03:41display. And right below your infotainment system, you have this rubber padded area,
03:44which you can use to put your phone. And there's actually a little cubby underneath your center
03:47stack, which is going to give you more room for personal belongings. What you would put under
03:50there? Not too sure. The only thing I don't care for inside are these comically small cup holders.
03:54I'm going to take a shot in the dark and say that you couldn't fit anything over eight ounces
03:57in that cup holder, but maybe rich people just like smaller drinks. But if you're an avid big gulp
04:01enjoyer, this is not going to be the car for you because you're not fitting your drink in there,
04:05which is going to result in you probably spilling it all over these very nice leather seats. The back seats
04:09are
04:09also a great place to spend time in the DBX-S. They're heated and ventilated, very comfortable,
04:14and I'm about 5'10 and I have plenty of headroom until my head touches the ceiling. You also have
04:18two USB type C ports back here, access to your climate control. And of course, in typical Aston
04:22Morton fashion, you have these little leather wrapped pull tabs so you can put stuff behind
04:26your driver and passenger seat. Now, in an effort to pop the hood and get some shots of the engine
04:29bay for you guys, I spent about 10 to 15 minutes trying to figure out where the hood release latch
04:33is
04:33because it's usually underneath the driver's side footwell. But I'm going to save you guys some time
04:36here because it's actually underneath the passenger side. It's a little red button that I'll try to
04:40film for you guys, but you just pull it once and the latch opens up. I should have Googled it
04:44and
04:44I would have saved myself a lot more time, but now we know. I completely understand why the Lamborghini
04:48yours is a popular SUV. It looks great and it performs great, but if you want something different,
04:52if you want to switch it up a little bit, then I think the Aston Morton DBX-S is an
04:56absolutely
04:56fantastic choice. And in my opinion, I think it's a bit underrated, but as always, let me know what you
05:00guys
05:00think in the comments below and let me know what car I should review next.
