00:01Booker, now it's time to find out who will step up.
00:05Who will answer the bell?
00:06Who will answer the open challenge for the NXT title?
00:15Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome the NXT Champion,
00:25Grayson Waller.
00:30They think they're ready, they ain't ready, I promise.
00:34One on record is saying you don't necessarily like the open challenge concept.
00:40It's not my cup of tea, but I'm gonna tell you right now, for this man,
00:45for this man right here, there's no other way, he's here for one reason,
00:50and one reason only, Vic, to prove this is where he always belongs.
00:56Check it out, that is, that is NXT Champion, Grayson Waller.
01:05Yes!
01:06Remember what he said to you once upon a time, right?
01:08Man, look here, I don't hold grudges, alright?
01:12I don't hold grudges.
01:13This is, this is business.
01:15I respect this man for anything, for being able to say something like that to my face,
01:21opposed to behind my back, like a lot of soft suckers in the locker room.
01:27Well, that is what Grayson Waller has said, he has called the locker room here soft.
01:32He has asked for someone to step up.
01:35The question is now, who will?
01:42Hey, if anything, you should be thanking me.
01:45Because guess what?
01:46I turned up to work tonight, unlike Mason Rook.
01:55He had his chance.
01:57He decided that the Grayson Waller effect was a little bit too tough to handle, but that's okay.
02:03Because now, the men of NXT have their chance.
02:08They love tweeting, they love Instagram and TikToking.
02:12But instead of walking the walk, lads, tonight you got a chance to do something about it.
02:18So my question, ladies and gentlemen, who do you think is ready for Grayson Waller?
02:26Who do you think?
02:28It don't matter who it is, tonight our finish ends still.
02:34But here we go, boys, step up.
02:38First one in this ring gets a shot.
02:44Well, Booker, who is it going to be?
02:47Who's gonna step up?
02:48Just chill here for a second.
02:50Wait, wait.
02:50No, no, no.
02:53Get out, my boy.
02:54Get out, my boy.
02:55There's everyone from the locker room right now that's trying to be the one that answers the bell.
03:01You gotta do quick.
03:04There's Hoganfield.
03:06There's Hoganfield.
03:06There's Hoganfield.
03:08I'm trying to pull it.
03:09I'm trying to pull it.
03:09I'm trying to pull it.
03:10I'm trying to pull it.
03:11I'm trying to pull it.
03:11This shot.
03:15There's the Vandy Project.
03:16Here we go.
03:17Here we go.
03:19Oh, yeah.
03:20The Godzilla.
03:21Who's gonna be the one to go face to face and enter the ring first?
03:25And it could be Zilla.
03:28Fatou's here.
03:31Cruz Montana's here too.
03:35Let's go.
03:36What are we doing?
03:38Who's gonna get the ring first?
03:41Who's gonna answer the bell?
03:42Why you do that?
03:44Montana trying.
03:48Akeem.
03:48Oh, baby.
03:50Dark State.
03:51That's personal right there, Vic.
03:56Buck, Buck.
03:59Waller doesn't realize it.
04:01It's gonna be EK Prosper.
04:03Here we go.
04:04Prosper.
04:05Here we go.
04:05Prosper answering.
04:07Springboard Missile Drop kick off the top.
04:09Leave the damn bell.
04:12The bell is sounded.
04:14This one is underway.
04:14Here we go, baby.
04:16Prosper going up and over.
04:17EK Prosper, what an opportunity this is.
04:19Another drop kick.
04:20Sends Waller right out to the floor.
04:22Don't wait no time with him, kid.
04:24Don't wait no time.
04:25Prosper going up, going over, able to land on his feet.
04:27Waller's trying to pick up some steam.
04:28Comes right out here.
04:29Sweet.
04:31Yeah.
04:33You gotta do it.
04:33Prosper right now has got the champion on the ropes.
04:35Waller back in.
04:37Quickly.
04:37He's trying to run.
04:38Waller trying to hide.
04:39But you can't hide from EK.
04:42He's following up to him.
04:43The boy can fly.
04:45Here we go, big.
04:46This is his first chance at the NXT Championship.
04:49He's trying to punch his ticket to history.
04:51Frog's blast.
04:52That's it.
04:53Title.
04:56So damn close.
04:58But EK is facing Waller for the title.
05:07It is EK Prosper who's answered the open challenge for the NXT title.
05:12Grayson Waller came into tonight thinking he was gonna face Mason Rook.
05:16Mason Rook is not medically cleared to compete.
05:19Robert Stone instead said there would be an open challenge.
05:22It's Prosper now.
05:22We got one count and it's EK who has a golden opportunity.
05:26But for Grayson Waller, Waller just got caught.
05:30What a unique backslide and a kick out.
05:31Beautiful work there by Prosper.
05:33Waller was getting ready to face someone who is six foot four, 400 pounds.
05:37He's gotta switch his strategy.
05:38Definitely gotta switch his strategy.
05:40That's why he tried everything.
05:41He actually tried a little T kick earlier.
05:44Right there.
05:44That's one of the most deadliest kicks.
05:47See that?
05:48That's smart.
05:49He's got up and right now it's time to look at tonight's NXT recap presented by
05:53Progressive as Grayson Waller right back up.
05:56And look, I don't understand why Waller continuously talks down to the locker room.
06:02I honestly don't get it.
06:03I don't think about talking down.
06:05My thing is this.
06:06You gotta go down to certain people's level to bring them up to your level.
06:10That's what Grayson Waller is all about.
06:12This is a teaching moment right here, Vic.
06:15Into a cover off that double stop and a kick out.
06:18But look, everyone is on the same journey, the same journey Grayson Waller took.
06:22Everyone had the same dream, the same dream that Grayson Waller had.
06:26You gotta understand, Grayson Waller got five years in right here starting in NXT.
06:29Right now, this is a guy that, he didn't go the right way the first time around.
06:34The second time is always better than the first.
06:37Grayson Waller continue to apply the pressure in this matchup.
06:41As you see now Indi Hartwell, a former NXT Women's Champion, now a TNA wrestler.
06:47One of the TNA knockouts, she has an opportunity next week.
06:50Take a look at what she put out as EK Prosper a second away from winning the championship.
06:55And got it.
06:56Good sidekick there.
06:58Waller into the cover, hook and leg, and a kick up.
07:00But Booker, Waller has to remember the grind.
07:03Did you see that?
07:03Waller has to remember the grind.
07:05The early days of no cheese, no deals, no Gs, hell, no wheels, no keys, no boats,
07:09no snowmobiles, and no skis.
07:10He has to remember the days that he had nothing.
07:13He's gotta respect the grind of everyone in the Performance Center.
07:16But when he comes back, he's calling him Saul.
07:18What was that from?
07:19I caught a glimpse of him.
07:21What was that from?
07:21It was from a doctor.
07:22Exactly, my point.
07:24What, do you have a prescription to give to EK Prosper?
07:26What are you trying to go here?
07:27I think it's this right here, Grayson Waller.
07:30He's talking about Grayson Waller.
07:31He's a guy right now that's on top of his game.
07:33He's here, like I say, for a teachable moment.
07:35But more important than that, more important than that, to show that he is a true champion.
07:40And right now, this is the first, the first title defense, right here tonight.
07:46And Waller continuing to talk trash since the very start.
07:49And Waller has made everyone, Waller has made everyone in the back take notice.
07:55He's forced this lineup to step up.
07:58Grayson Waller truly was the genesis of change on this brand.
08:02When was the last time we had this many players eyeing the NXT title?
08:06I know, yes, EK Prosper Booker is the one who answered this challenge.
08:09We're talking about Mason Rook, who is sidelined indefinitely.
08:12But at the time, he was stepping up.
08:14Tony D'Angelo, Montana, Zilla, Narock.
08:17When you look down the line, Bourne, Lennox, Sugars.
08:19They all had their chances.
08:21I mean, that's easy.
08:22Since when have we had a champion like Grayson Waller, who has been willing to go out here and
08:27have a open challenge here on a Tuesday night.
08:29Come on, man.
08:30Give him his props.
08:31Prosper answering back.
08:33And I am trying to give Grayson Waller his props.
08:35Waller knows exactly what the NXT Championship can do for one's career.
08:38As up goes Prosper, and what goes up must come down.
08:42And look.
08:43Beautiful work.
08:44Beautiful work.
08:45Elevated electric chair, belly to back, into the cover, and a kick out.
08:49You know what that NXT Championship does, Vic?
08:51It opens a lot of doors, man.
08:53Every time you walk in the building, here goes your champ.
08:56Yes!
08:57And you're right, and to that point, think about those that have worn the NXT title.
09:02Seth Rollins was the first superstar to hold it.
09:05Oba, Trick, Finn Balor, Owens, and even undisputed WWE Champion Sami Zayn.
09:10All prime time players right now.
09:12And that's why Grayson Waller is back.
09:14That's why he's back here in NXT.
09:16And I love the motivation of this young man.
09:19Well, EK Prosper now, trying to rise up.
09:22And EK tonight, trying to follow in the footsteps of another former NXT Champion.
09:27A high flyer he looked up to from Newcastle, who once stated,
09:30throw your heart out in front of you, run ahead and catch it.
09:33And that's what Prosper's trying to do right now, but he just caught a forearm under
09:36the jaw from Waller.
09:37Champion charging in, big pump kick from the challenger.
09:40Challenger right now, trying to get back in, but just got planted again.
09:44Ran right into it too, Vic.
09:45What a heavy hitting match up here in our main event.
09:49It's finally a counter for- Prosper.
09:51Prosper.
09:52And Prosper now, trying to rally.
09:55EK, pull yourself up there.
09:58EK, you can Prosper.
10:00You gotta hit the homerun shot.
10:04My God.
10:05That was one hell of a shot from Waller.
10:08I'll tell you something.
10:08Right under the jaw.
10:09Grayson Waller has expanded his game exponentially, Vic.
10:13This young man right now is hitting on all cylinders, and Prosper is feeling it.
10:18You can say that.
10:19Again, it's Prosper now trying anything you can.
10:21Super kick underneath the jaw.
10:23And you gotta imagine the nerves in EK Prosper.
10:26What nerves did you have ahead of your first major singles championship?
10:31Get those butterflies to line up and fly straight and
10:35win your first championship, son.
10:37And Waller trying anything he can to try just to get away, break the hole.
10:41That would have been dangerous if Waller were able to take that German suplex,
10:45but now just hoisted up EK.
10:47And EK right now looking for a nasty landing.
10:52Booker, look up.
10:53There's an exposed medal.
10:55Wow.
10:56Throat first when EK Prosper into that exposed medal.
11:01Prosper's hurt.
11:02Waller's in control.
11:10NXT Championship is hanging in the balance.
11:13EK Prosper answered the open challenge on a night.
11:15Mason Rook was to have his championship opportunity, but
11:20it was not medically cleared to compete.
11:22This happened moments ago, right before the break.
11:25It was exposed steel to the throat of EK Prosper.
11:29And not only that shot to the throat, EK Prosper then would go face first into
11:34the steel steps to our right.
11:36It has been all Grayson Waller, and I don't just like to jump to a conclusion,
11:41but what is the challenger gonna have to do to overcome the odds?
11:44He's gonna have to dig deep.
11:46He's gonna have to dig deep.
11:48I'm talking about intestinal fortitude.
11:50His mental attitude has to be right.
11:52Like I said earlier, he had to leave everything in the middle of this ring tonight.
11:57You gotta wonder where that gas tank is for EK Prosper in this juncture,
12:01because Grayson Waller right now could be looking for that exclamation point,
12:04could be looking for that superplex.
12:07Prosper though, those championship opportunities don't come every single day.
12:12Prosper trying to fight.
12:14Prosper trying to swing, created some separation all the way up top.
12:18Able to overleap, and then a big super kick under the jaw.
12:21Big shot.
12:22Waller rocked into the back corner, now it's time for Prosper.
12:26To think Prosper did not know he'd have this opportunity tonight.
12:32Prosper going for broke, was looking for maybe a-
12:36Slithering like that snake he is, Grayson Waller, able to get away.
12:41Grayson just one step ahead of this kid tonight, Vic.
12:44Man.
12:46What sort of offense, innovative by the champion, and another near fall.
12:51A lot of pressure right there on the ribs, and he can't prosper.
12:55He just breaking this young man down piece by piece tonight.
13:01Championship.
13:02Hell of a champion.
13:03Championship main event tonight.
13:06Championship opportunity next week, six brands.
13:09Who will be the next to challenge?
13:11Kalani Jordan as EK Prosper.
13:14Gotta be kidding me.
13:15Where does he get this from?
13:16Gotta be kidding me.
13:18Come on, young man.
13:19Snapping back like a rubber band, showing some resiliency.
13:23Charging comes Waller, and right now, Booker, what is this?
13:26The third, the fourth, the fifth win from the challenger?
13:28It is right now.
13:29This kid is breaking the noise, Vic.
13:31He knows how important this opportunity is.
13:35Big DDT, come on, son.
13:37And that DDT had a little extra oomph on it.
13:40And so did that Minchenofu driver for the title.
13:46Cardio just kicked in.
13:47Just able to kick out.
13:49Look at Waller.
13:50He's just a shot.
13:51He thought it was gonna be a cakewalk, so to speak.
13:54He's in for a fight.
13:57EK Prosper has always had the dream to be champion.
14:00Can he finally achieve that tonight, become a champion here in NXT?
14:04Let's go, EK!
14:05NXT Universe rallying now behind Prosper.
14:08Let's go, EK!
14:08Ran into a big shot.
14:10That is!
14:11That is!
14:12That is!
14:14That is!
14:14Is indeed to retain?
14:17No!
14:19Prosper still showing fight book.
14:21He's got a little bit left in the tank, Vic.
14:23But I think he's running on fumes right now.
14:27Sticking the landing was Waller.
14:30EK!
14:32EK!
14:33EK!
14:34EK!
14:35If you hear the NXT Universe, anything extra they can give Prosper.
14:40They're gonna need to give every single ounce of energy they have so he can muster up the
14:45energy here tonight.
14:46One, two, three.
14:47Prosper now again trying to spread.
14:49Got caught again.
14:50And I think his throw went off the top rope that time.
14:54Again, that's the second time.
14:56Wait a minute.
14:58What a deep cleaning clothesline from Waller.
15:03And you can see Grayson Waller's left shoulder.
15:06Waller's shoulder, hey.
15:10Grayson Waller right now.
15:16Absolutely disrespectful.
15:19Yeah, I get it now.
15:24We talked about that exclamation point earlier, Book.
15:29Prosper's in trouble right now, Vic.
15:30Prosper certainly is.
15:32Come on, dig deep, son.
15:34We've seen Grayson Waller in the past.
15:38If Waller hits this, it's over.
15:43Prosper, EK able to get up.
15:45Big kick out of the jaw of the champion.
15:49Waller right now is rocked, Waller.
15:52Baby.
15:53Waller is the one who is down.
15:55Leave it in the ring, son.
15:56Leave it in the ring.
16:00EK going for
16:03Bro.
16:05God.
16:06Come on.
16:13You can't win out here.
16:25Take a look at the distance from Prosper.
16:31And this is that chance.
16:34This is that moment.
16:35EK Prosper now to live out a dream.
16:38EK Prosper to crown himself brand new NXT Champion.
16:43That was a rough ride.
16:45He's gonna be enough.
16:47Into that bad knee, you're right.
16:49He's gonna cover.
16:50Hook it up.
16:51Waller by his toes.
16:53Able to put his foot on the rope.
16:56And for Prosper, how much does he have left?
16:59He's favoring that knee, that same knee that bounced off the desk.
17:04Hobbling, trying anything he can to get back.
17:07And he just got cut off by Waller.
17:09Big knee under the jaw.
17:11Challenger's rock.
17:12Champion flying in.
17:13Big stutter from Waller.
17:16And Grayson Waller in his first offense.
17:21Almost looking in disbelief because Prosper has pulled himself back to his feet.
17:26There is no quit in EK Prosper.
17:29But one more time, with a little extra oomph, is Grayson Waller.
17:35And Waller survives tonight.
17:42Here is your winner, and still, the NXT Champion, Grayson Waller.
17:52Look, I take nothing away, nothing away from EK Prosper.
17:59EK Prosper answered the Open Challenge.
18:03EK Prosper indeed showed he was the future.
18:07But on this night, Grayson Waller was just able to slither away.
18:17Whoa.
18:20There is no one breathing on this roster who can beat me.
18:24Good try, EK.
18:26I'm impressed, but it's just not enough.
18:29Well, for NXT, we will all continue to feel the Grayson Waller effect.
18:38that's right.
18:41Yeah.
18:41I said...
18:43Ty's going to be fine.
18:46Try that, right?
18:48Okay.
18:52I think we're all the best and I'll be here.
18:53Be very quick.
18:53You
