Dell Latitude 3400 How to Replacement Battery, SSD, Memory, CMOS Battery.
To disassemble the Dell Latitude 3400, follow these steps as outlined in the Dell Latitude 3400 Service Manual.
Prerequisites
Power Down: Turn off the laptop and disconnect all cables, including the AC adapter.
Remove SD Card: If an SD card is present, push it to eject and remove it from the slot.
Disassembly Steps
1. Base Cover Removal
Loosen Screws: Flip the laptop upside down. Loosen the nine captive screws that secure the base cover. These screws are designed to stay attached to the cover so they don't get lost.
Pry Open: Use a plastic scribe to gently pry the base cover starting from the top-left edge near the hinges. Work your way around the edges.
Lift Away: Once the clips are released, lift the cover off the chassis.
2. Disconnect the Battery (Critical Step)
Safety: Always disconnect the battery before touching internal components to prevent electrical shorts.
Unplug: Disconnect the battery cable from the system board connector.
Removal (Optional): If removing the battery, unscrew the four (M2x3) screws holding it in place and lift it out.
3. Removing Internal Components
Storage (SSD/HDD):
M.2 SSD: Unscrew the single screw securing the M.2 card and pull it out of the slot.
2.5" HDD: Disconnect the SATA cable from the motherboard and remove the four screws securing the drive assembly.
Memory (RAM): The Latitude 3400 has two DIMM slots. Spread the clips on the sides of the RAM module until it pops up, then pull it out.
WLAN Card: Remove the single screw securing the WLAN bracket, disconnect the two antenna cables (noting their colors), and slide the card out.
Cooling System: Unscrew the fan and heatsink assembly. Note that the heatsink
screws are numbered for specific tightening/loosening order.
4. System Board (Motherboard) Removal
Disconnect all ribbon cables (keyboard, touchpad, power button, I/O board) and the display cable.
Remove the screws securing the system board and lift it from the palm-rest assembly.
