00:01There is so much going on it is a hive of activity and no expense has been spared obviously because
00:08like Dolly said it costs a lot of money to look this cheap and more is more so that is
00:13definitely something that this country town seems to have taken on as a challenge. Would
00:18you believe that I'm actually one of the more underdressed which is pretty incredible considering
00:22how many synthetic fibers I am currently wearing but yes there are more blonde wigs
00:28than flies and clearly they are also out in force to celebrate the country music icon there's so much
00:35going on everybody is dressed up obviously with rhinestones and there's balloons down shirts and
00:41some stuffed bras it's all it's so much fun there's line dancing there was drag queen bingo
00:47activities for kids it's been going for five years now but obviously this year it is a little bit
00:53more bittersweet there's a bit more heart under all the hair as people are celebrating in the very
00:58colourful way that Dolly Parton would have wanted. Absolutely more certainly is more there are
01:03certainly a lot of sequins that we've been seeing in these in these shots as well Lucy. Look you sort
01:10of touched on it there how will the festival be different this year after Dolly's death?
01:17There will be a minute silence but right now I kind of can't imagine how that would happen because
01:22there's just there's music playing and people are running around and just having the best time and
01:27then later there's a look-alike competition and for those who might feel like blonde isn't their
01:31colour there's also the Kenny Rogers look-alike dress-up competition as well and so that will
01:37obviously be an ode to her Islands in the Stream singing partner but there's also the local community
01:44has come together young and old so from the nursing home to the primary schools and they've decorated
01:49butterflies to be made into a butterfly garden to pay tribute to Dolly but mainly it's just celebrating
01:55everything that she was and everything that people all over the world loved her for from the fashion
02:00to the colours the incredible music and even her philanthropy her incredible charitable legacy
02:06which people in Narromine and other regional towns they get to enjoy I know that a lot of young kids
02:11every month they get a book from Auntie Dolly as they call her through her imagination library so
02:16there are a lot of ways that Dolly Parton has touched this community and they continue to celebrate her.
02:23Thank you so much very much so much for you today.
