02:55...and win is first.
03:03Shingo's had a physical road to get here. Hiromu has had a ghastly road to get here.
03:09Hiromu has battled Cho, Minoru Suzuki, and Evil.
03:13And he's overcome all three.
03:17Shingo Takagi nearly got eliminated in the first round by Tomohiro Ishii.
03:26Battled Tagalo in round two to a near standstill.
03:30More advancing. Chase Owens nearly pulled the surprise and took care of the Dragon.
03:36Can the ticking time bomb stop Shingo Takagi in his path to get one more win this year in the
03:42New Japan Cup?
03:43...and the Dragon. Takagi Shin-Gong!
03:57...and the Dragon. Takagi Shin-Gong!
04:07...and Hiromu has joined the Japanese-announced team over to my right.
04:13Marty Asami the official.
04:17A berth in the semifinals. The two victors today will face each other in the semifinals on March the 26th.
04:31...and Hiromu charges right across. And why would we expect anything less from Hiromu Takahashi?
04:41Second New Japan Cup for Hiromu.
04:48...a 6-1 all-time record.
04:52Three wins in 2020 before being eliminated by Okada. Oh, wait a minute! Wait a minute!
04:59Lake trapped!
05:06...and three wins this year. Oh, Hiromu going after the legs of Shingo Takagi.
05:16And right now Shingo is trying to find a way to get away from and slow down Hiromu, but there's
05:22no stopping him right now.
05:33Two hundred and thirty overhand chops were exchanged between Hiromu and Minoru Suzuki in the second round.
05:48...and Hiromu was living a charmed life against Evil. We could say that in round three.
05:54Whether they took Hiromu lightly or had, you know, Evil wanted to do it on his own.
06:01Other than Dick Togo, which was annoying and debilitating enough, Hiromu was able to avoid having all of House of
06:10Torture go after him and attack him.
06:25...oh, wait a minute!
06:27...tries the head scissors, but Shingo very strong. Watch it! It is now! Uh-oh!
06:33Electric chair! Oh, face first! Face first! Hiromu wasn't sure whether he was going forward or backward.
06:41But he knew he was going.
06:49So that stops Hiromu, at least for the moment, and allows Shingo to get some feeling back in those legs.
06:55So I saw some conversation on Twitter. I chimed in.
07:00...wheelbarrow German suplex. Man, oh, man. You would think that Hiromu and Shingo would be the main event today, some
07:10said.
07:12Was it junior heavyweight bias? Or was it the fact that Ospreay, as the defending New Japan Cup winner, deserves
07:19the main event spot?
07:20...obviously. Oh, wait a minute, wait a minute. Here goes Hiromu, right. Just off to my left. Oh, man.
07:38...long run across. And Hiromu chest first into the barricade.
07:47Obviously, Shingo Hiromu is a marquee match, as is Will Ospreay versus Zack Sabre Jr.
07:55And if you want to throw the double main event moniker on it, I would completely agree with you.
08:06How about that DDT on the floor?
08:15The possibility that the winner of this, Shingo and Hiromu, could face Okada in the finals. Possibility.
08:25Both Shingo and Hiromu shared the distinction or the misfortune of being stopped.
08:32Referee stoppage in the money clip. Shingo in the G1, Hiromu in the semifinals of the New Japan Cup in
08:412020.
08:41It's important to note that Hiromu faced all heavyweights in 2020.
08:47And when he battled Okada, he did not quit. He didn't give up. It was a referee stoppage.
09:01Oh, my God. Jumping right into the gut of Hiromu.
09:13Of course, I think this crowd is evenly split, loves both guys, and will cheer for each to recover and
09:21fight back.
09:23Oh, what a tackle. What force by Shingo.
09:27Applause of appreciation for Shingo.
09:36Vertical suplex. Hiromu with no choice.
09:42Felt that in the front and the back. Marty Asami counts too. Hiromu was able to kick out.
09:49Shingo last year in making the finals was the first to defeat a former New Japan Cup tournament winner in
09:57every round.
09:59No one in history had ever done that before.
10:11So Shingo on his game plan right now. Checking the solvency of his knees after that early attack by Hiromu.
10:36Wow!
10:41Wow!
10:58Let's see the power of Hiromu. That is impressive strength. Backdropping Shingo.
11:17Hiromu comes around and gets him over this time.
11:22Earlier on, Shingo used his power to stop Hiromu mid-flight.
11:29But this time Hiromu with enough momentum to take Shingo over.
11:33Now Shingo, of course, suffered a great deal of injury to his neck.
11:40And that all courtesy of Chase Owens in round three the night before their third round match.
11:48Chase dropped Shingo on his head with a package pile driver on a chair.
11:55And then worked over the neck of the dragon exclusively. Watch out!
11:59And there goes Shingo!
12:01The shotgun drop kick square into the chest of Shingo Takagi who gets launched into the barricade.
12:12Of course, in all of that, while we talk about Shingo, let's not forget that Hiromu crashes and burns on
12:19the floor just to execute that dangerous move.
12:24So much of Hiromu's offensive style is predicated on him putting himself at risk or him injuring himself in the
12:32process.
12:38They said after he broke his neck in victory over Ryu Lee in 2018.
12:45Well, you're going to change your style, aren't you? Hell no!
12:47Look at Hiromu with the Falcon Arrow taking Shingo Takagi over like it's nothing.
12:53Marty Asami counts two and Shingo kicks out.
12:57No, Hiromu's never going to change his style.
13:06Just as wild as he's ever been.
13:17Even though he's not the junior heavyweight champion, he is representing the junior heavyweight division in this tournament.
13:23Looking to jam Shingo into the corner pad.
13:27Now pop off Death Valley driver, but Hiromu knows it's coming.
13:32Fights his way to the ropes.
13:34Headbutt.
13:38Oh, watch this now.
13:39Watch out.
13:41Watch out.
13:44And Marty Asami knows exactly how dangerous this could be for one or both.
13:56And Hiromu blocked the Death Valley driver in the ring, so Shingo looks to do it here on the apron.
14:03Watch out.
14:04Oh, Hiromu gets back in.
14:05Thrust kick.
14:08Watch out.
14:09Watch out.
14:09Watch out.
14:10Sunset Bomb.
14:11Coming up.
14:12Sunset Bomb.
14:15Shingo has to let go of the rope to free himself.
14:20Cuts the knee.
14:21Watch out now.
14:23Oh, no.
14:24There's the Power Bomb on the floor.
14:26My God.
14:39Well, the momentum has, the pendulum has swung completely in the favor of Hiromu Takahashi.
14:54And that is Shingo Takahashi desperate to get air back in his lungs.
15:13Shingo like heaving right now, trying to get that breath back.
15:16And Hiromu will roll him under the bottom rope before the count of 13.
15:22And now, there's the Death Valley driver into the corner.
15:46Got him up.
15:47Got him up.
15:47Watch out.
15:49One, two, one, two.
15:53Will Barrow German again?
15:55No, this time.
15:58Face first.
16:01Leg hooked.
16:03Kick out at two.
16:25Safe to say that whether Hiromu or Shingo, if either one of them go on to win the New
16:33Japan Cup, you could say they physically earned it.
16:39Because they have been pushed to the limit and beyond in every round, including against
16:44one another here in the quarterfinals.
16:46.
16:56Shingo stiffening up, refusing to move down.
17:01.
17:08Yukon Lariat.
17:32Shingo is still trying to recover from that powerbomb on the floor.
17:36.
17:46Oh, wait a minute.
17:47Leg trapped.
17:49.
17:50There's a dragon screw.
17:52Shingo on Hiromu.
17:56.
18:01And the former IWGP World Heavyweight Champion who wants to win this year's New Japan Cup.
18:06.
18:07As it eluded him last year, and there is no second guess if Shingo wins.
18:15He'll want Okada and that world title on the line.
18:23.
18:24.
18:26Hiromu trying to keep Shingo off of him, and Shingo Takagi says no.
18:32.
18:33Oh, brutal.
18:33.
18:37.
18:37.
18:38.
18:38.
18:38.
18:38.
18:39.
18:39.
18:40.
18:42.
18:43.
18:43.
18:44.
18:45.
18:46.
18:47.
18:47.
18:47.
18:47.
18:48.
18:48.
18:50.
18:50.
18:51.
18:51.
18:51.
18:51.
18:52.
18:52C'est parti !
19:22Rendered unconscious, and Marty Asami stopping it.
19:27Wait a minute, wait a minute.
19:29Now foregoing that, realizing he could get the victory that way.
19:40So at the 15 minute mark, will Shingo be kicking himself tomorrow?
19:46He was on the verge of a stoppage and felt he could pin Hiromu easier.
19:55And while Hiromu is in rough shape, that Shingo Takagi face-lock was all business.
20:09And it has swung the pendulum back.
20:24I'm on the verge of a stoppage.
20:30I'm on the verge of a stoppage.
20:35I'm on the verge of a stoppage.
20:49Shingo's got the striking edge, you can see that.
20:52But again, we said that time and time again, when Hiromu battled Minoru Suzuki.
21:00And continued to come back time and time again.
21:25Shingo just throwing him down.
21:30I wonder if there's a part of him that Shingo doesn't want to do what he has to do to
21:35beat Hiromu.
21:39But then that quickly subsides because Shingo knows what he has to do.
21:45And he knows in his gut, he's going to have to hurt Hiromu in order to get the victory.
21:58But Hiromu doesn't give up cheap ones.
22:03You can beat him, but you're going to have to do everything and then some.
22:10You're going to take a hell of a lot of punishment.
22:13And now here we go, pumping bomber.
22:15No, what momentum.
22:19German suplex.
22:24Oh, driven down.
22:29Ran right into the pumping bomber there.
22:32And now Shingo smells blood and is going to look to end it.
22:36Here we go, made in Japan, made in Japan, made in Japan.
22:41This might shut the door on Hiromu.
22:43No!
22:45A kick out.
23:07Go and go.
23:11Go on, wait, go.
23:18Go.
23:20Go.
23:21Go to the magic Violet.
23:25Come on!
23:26Go!
23:27Go!
23:27Go!
23:27Go!
23:29Go!
23:30Go!
23:31Go!
23:361 final trip, here we go
23:38No, wait, sunset flip
23:40sunset flip 2
23:44Oh man, wheelbarrow cradle
23:46Yes sir, oh I thought that was it
23:50Oh my god
23:54Pop up
23:57Ooh, destroyer
24:03Just crawls on and presses down 2
24:05And Shingo's able to kick out
24:09And now we go back to the other night
24:11with Shingo Takagi
24:12Chase Owens with the package piledriver
24:15on the chair
24:16And then Chase doing everything in his power
24:20to injure the neck of Shingo further
24:22and advance in this tournament
24:24Shingo won, but obviously
24:27the pins and needles shooting down the arm
24:30of Shingo Takagi
24:32evidence
24:33that Hiromu has created an opening
24:51And now Hiromu building momentum
24:53Here we go, here we go, time bomb
24:58Shingo Man slid out, but isn't it up, isn't it up?
25:00No!
25:35We're over 20 minutes
25:36in this quarterfinal match
25:38with Shingo Takagi
25:40versus Hiromu Takahashi
25:47And you could feel that Hiromu's
25:49on the doorstep of victory
26:14Oh, what a headbutt, an answer from Hiromu
26:18Straight to the heart of Shingo
26:20Here we go
26:37Looking for time bomb two
26:40And, oh Shingo
26:48Shingo
26:48Hang on, watch, oh dangerously close to the ropes
26:51Oh man, how about that?
27:01Shingo's own GTR
27:05And the pendulum now swings back towards Shingo
27:18Here we go, here we go
27:20Pumping bomber
27:21Oh my god
27:24Pumping bomber
27:25One, two
27:27No!
27:28Oh!
27:35I know what you're saying, Kevin
27:37Isn't that the move that Shingo used
27:38to dominate the junior heavyweight division?
27:43I would agree with you
27:45And isn't Hiromu a junior?
27:47Technically, yes
27:50He just kicked out
27:54And Hiromu knowing
27:56That his New Japan Cup dream
27:58Is on life support right now
28:02Oh my god
28:06And now, up on the shoulders
28:08Here we go, last of the dragon
28:10Last of the dragon
28:12And the dream
28:13For Hiromu
28:14Cups to an end here
28:16Inagaoka
28:18And it is Shingo Takagi who advances
28:21To the semifinals
28:22Of the New Japan Cup
28:24The best
28:35As we mentioned Shingo
28:49Donc, Shingo s'advances, il va prendre le gagnant de notre main event.
28:54Defending New Japan Cup winner Will Osprey, 2018 New Japan Cup winner Zack Sabre Jr.
29:18Et j'ai toujours envie de faire.
29:21Je suis toujours comme Dieu.
29:28S'il te plaît, J'ai toujours envie de faire.
29:35C'est parti pour Hiromu.
30:05Shingo Takagi with his win now.
30:09He'll get some treatment.
30:11He'll get some ice.
30:14And he'll watch the main event.
30:16It's on the 26th.
30:20It's an opportunity for revenge.
30:22A little get-back for Shingo.
30:25Whether it's Osprey or Zack Sabre Jr.
30:28If it's Zack Sabre Jr.,
30:32Shingo will not forget being submitted during the G1.
30:38And for Will Osprey, of course,
30:40with Shingo last year,
30:43finals, New Japan Cup.
30:45The goal for Shingo,
30:47still on target.
30:49One more win this year.
30:50And he's through to the semifinals.
