00:00Hello and welcome to the Celebrity Traitors Uncloaked, the official video podcast hosted by me, Ed Gamble.
00:06We're back with a fresh set of celebrities who are about to play the game of their life, all in
00:11a bid to win money for their chosen charity.
00:13I'll be here after every episode to unpack the latest goings-on in the castle with some familiar faces from
00:18series gone by, and of course the latest murdered and banished players.
00:22Plus, I'll be revealing the moment they discovered the identities of the traitors. That's my favourite part.
00:27If you've watched Uncloaked before, you'll know what's coming. It's time for a spoiler warning.
00:31If you haven't seen the first episode of the Celebrity Traitors series 2, then now's the time to do it.
00:36Otherwise, what's to come will ruin everything for you. Head to BBC iPlayer now and then come back and join
00:42us.
00:42Coming up in our very first episode, we'll be discussing burning pirate ships, secrets being slipped and that all-important
00:49traitors pick.
00:50We'll get stuck into that cliffhanger. Who will the traitors decide to recruit and who to murder?
00:54To do all this and more, I'm joined by celebrity faithful Kate Garroway and trio of traitors, Kat Burns and
01:00Series 4 winners, Stephen and Rachel.
01:07Welcome. Welcome, all of you. First of all, Stephen and Rachel, it's a delight to welcome you to our little
01:12basement here.
01:13Thank you very much.
01:14You've never got the opportunity.
01:15I love what you've done with the place.
01:17Thank you so much.
01:17Very nice.
01:18I've worked really hard on it personally. How is it watching the celebrities in the castle so soon after you
01:23two got out?
01:24I'm jealous. It's fabulous. I'd love to be back there.
01:29That's not what Stephen's thinking.
01:30No.
01:30I guess you don't need to agree on everything. It's nice that after a series of you two sort of
01:34bonding together and being on the same team,
01:37you seem to have just gone off in completely different directions.
01:39Don't even like each other.
01:41No, I was really, I was like back in that world watching it and I don't know if I was
01:49quite ready to go back there.
01:51I didn't know what orifice it was going to come out of, but I was feeling very, like, shaky.
01:56That's, that's, no, it's the earliest anyone said orifice on Uncloaked before.
02:01It's good to get out there.
02:03Kat, lovely to have you back on Uncloaked.
02:05An amazing new group of celebs. Do you have any early favourites?
02:09Maya.
02:10Yeah?
02:10The queen of my life. I love her. I just think she's brilliant.
02:14Were you happy that she was picked as a traitor?
02:15I just thought she would be a brilliant one. Like, we know her as a host, but I think that's,
02:20that's perfect because you still have to be quite personable as a host.
02:23So I think people just won't suspect her.
02:26You called it before you even saw it, didn't you?
02:28I was like, I think it's going to be her. I think she'd be great.
02:31She did.
02:32And I was right.
02:32And Claudia made the right decision then by the sounds of it.
02:34She did.
02:35Kate, always a delight to have you here.
02:36Is it?
02:37We always have a laugh. No, genuinely.
02:39I feel like I'm just your sort of straight man.
02:42I just, something for you to take the mickey out of.
02:45Yes.
02:45Which is important.
02:47It's important for you to have that in your life, isn't it?
02:49That's what I mean by it's always a pleasure.
02:53Now, you obviously did make it quite far into the game.
02:56Who do you think in this group of celebs could go as far as you did?
02:59See, I was watching it with these guys, you know, horrible, horrific traitors.
03:04Brilliant at their craft.
03:06As the only faithful.
03:08And I just felt the same emotions that I felt before, which is, oh my God, what?
03:12You're doing that?
03:13You're saying that?
03:14I was excited by it.
03:15They are brilliant traitors.
03:16I mean, if there is a traitor version of Kate Garroway, it's got to be Richard right now,
03:23hasn't it?
03:25Because you don't know whether it's genius and then you realise it's not.
03:29Yeah.
03:29And then you realise it's not.
03:30Did you feel that when you were watching, you were like, this is an insight into what
03:33I would have done as a traitor?
03:34Exactly what I would have done.
03:35I'd have said, yeah, I'm a traitor.
03:37Oh, sorry, was I?
03:38Oh, God, I probably, can you help save me to the really good traitor?
03:44Now, we don't obviously have a freshly murdered or banished player with us here today, because
03:48we don't know what's going to happen.
03:49But I think we've probably got enough to talk about.
03:52It was quite the bumper first episode.
03:54Let's start with that cliffhanger.
03:56James and a mole in the chapel, lying in coffins, waiting to discover whether they've
04:00been murdered or recruited. Stephen, who do you think the traitors are going to choose
04:04to recruit?
04:05I mean, I wouldn't have chosen either of them, first of all, for this. I think they've made
04:09a big mistake here.
04:11Interesting.
04:11I think both of them, whoever is murdered, it points straight to Richard. Like, it does.
04:18They should have brought someone like Ross in, because he was accusing everyone under the
04:23sun. If someone sniffed, he was like, did you just murder me by sniffing in my direction?
04:28And I think, like, if you murdered Ross, then I think it's the best way to get the heat
04:35of Richard, because they'd go, oh, could it be Leanne trying to save herself? Could it
04:38be Bella trying to save themselves? Like, it's kind of that, I don't know, it gets people
04:43kind of going in all different directions. In this situation, I actually think Amal did
04:48a really good job of fighting his corner.
04:52I have a feeling they're going to pick James to be in the turret, though.
04:56I don't know why, that's just what my waters are telling me at the moment.
05:00Your traitor waters?
05:01My traitor waters are telling me at the moment that it's going to be James that joins him
05:06in that turret.
05:07And what do you think, Kat, as another former traitor? Do you agree with Stephen that they
05:12picked the wrong two people to decide between?
05:13Yeah, 100%. I think Maya's being really sweet in wanting to help and look after Richard and
05:21just try and save him. And so I think she's thinking one day ahead, rather than a bigger
05:27picture and a bigger plan.
05:29It seems like because of that traitor thing that you said yesterday, people don't have
05:33a lot to go by, and that is all they're clinging to right now.
05:36Understandably.
05:36Yeah. We've got a big decision to make tonight.
05:40Yeah.
05:40We basically all work out how to save you.
05:42We've got to invite two faithful, one to join our traitor clan, and the other to kill.
05:51I think we need to get someone that is your main accuser on side.
05:57The biggest rot fella on me is Amal.
06:00I would have thought, let me pick somebody that I'm happy to murder, and let me pick somebody
06:06that I would want to join.
06:07I would have probably done Ramesh, and then it's someone completely random that's going
06:12to come in, and then you guys can still have a bit of a trio, and then get rid of
06:16somebody
06:17maybe that hasn't been saying anything about Richard, and kind of see how that...
06:22Because Richard, bless his heart, but he's not going to last very long, is he?
06:29Poor thing. He's just having fun.
06:31And I think that, you know, Maya should have probably thought, he's going to go soon,
06:35so let me think about a few steps ahead.
06:38Yeah, a few steps ahead, without Richard, how am I going to play the game?
06:40But do you think maybe she thought, well, there's only two of us at the moment,
06:44and I can't betray the only other traitor?
06:47Well, she doesn't need to.
06:48And she doesn't...
06:49He betrayed himself.
06:49Yeah.
06:50No, no, no, by picking someone that suited her rather than saving Richard, I mean.
06:56Because the pleas, Rachel, were all around, we can help get the heat off Richard.
07:01Yeah, exactly.
07:02What did you think of the two pleas?
07:03Let's start with Amal's plea first.
07:05I think he was the strongest plea,
07:07because I think he carries the most weight with the other faithful,
07:10so I think maybe I disagree for a change with Steve,
07:13and I'm thinking they've actually recruited him.
07:16And I think he has, yeah, I think he could maybe be more manipulative.
07:20I genuinely have absolutely no heat on me whatsoever.
07:24Nobody in there thinks I'm a traitor.
07:26That's going to be useful.
07:28The second thing is,
07:30I've established some really good relationships.
07:33I know that they'll believe what I say.
07:36What about James' plea?
07:37Because I mean, I was impressed he actually managed to give a cogent plea,
07:40because he clearly doesn't want to be a traitor.
07:41He doesn't want to be a traitor.
07:42I felt sorry for him, you know,
07:43having said that he didn't want to play it as a traitor,
07:45and then having to plead for his life.
07:47But he pivoted really, really well.
07:49I think currently, pretty much everyone's convinced I'm a faithful.
07:53Also, I've been pushing your name really, really, really hard.
07:57Everyone knows that about me.
07:59If I go tonight, the first person they're looking at is you.
08:04You need help getting the heat off of you.
08:06And right now, everyone believes me.
08:09He did a really good job.
08:10And I think because he went first,
08:11that was quite helpful for him as well,
08:12because I think a lot of his points Amal then picked up on
08:15and it did just sound like, yes, me too.
08:18He knew exactly what he was doing by saying, you go first.
08:20They both said that they could take the heat off Richard
08:22if they were recruited.
08:24Yeah.
08:24Kate, do we think that's possible?
08:26I don't know.
08:28I mean, you were all sort of laughing at Ros Kemp,
08:30but that is what it feels like to be a faithful,
08:36which you don't know,
08:37which is that you're absolutely looking at everything.
08:39You're right.
08:40Somebody brushes past you and says,
08:42excuse me, you think have I just been murdered in plain sight?
08:45I mean, I did think it was odd that he told people
08:48he wanted to be a traitor
08:50and then told people he was a traitor.
08:52You know, it's strange.
08:55At least Alan taught everybody he wanted to be a faithful
08:57and then slipped up with a traitor.
08:59I mean, it could be genius.
09:01Also, Alan never changed how he was acting pre-pick and post-pick.
09:06No, it was just always.
09:07Whereas Richard was actually quite sort of like subdued before the pick.
09:11He was all menacing, wasn't he?
09:13And then grinning his head off as soon as he was picked.
09:16Oh, he was chuffed to bits and could not hide it.
09:21I just love him so much.
09:23I don't know where.
09:24I hope he doesn't go.
09:25I think what we've learned now
09:27with so many different seasons of this show
09:31is that there isn't really a blueprint
09:33for how this game should be played.
09:35I was the colour of Kate's dress
09:37from day one when my shoulder was tapped
09:40right through to the end.
09:41And still, like,
09:42even though you're looking at it as a viewer
09:45and thinking, how are they not seeing this?
09:48In that castle, things are just different.
09:51And there's so many stimuli every single day
09:54that's kind of taking your mind off in different directions.
09:57I do not envy the faithfuls at all.
09:59I think it's really, really hard.
10:01Even with someone saying,
10:03I'm a traitor,
10:04there's already people overthinking it,
10:07second-guessing it.
10:08Well, that's the thing.
10:09We had multiple people.
10:10We had Jerry Hall.
10:11We had Mahala as well.
10:13Of course he wouldn't just say he's a traitor
10:15if he's a traitor, you know?
10:17I just don't believe Richard's a traitor.
10:19I know Richard.
10:21I've known him 30 years,
10:23and he's my neighbour.
10:24He says and does eccentric things.
10:27He's an amazing guy.
10:29But I think he's, like, acting out
10:32because he's not been chosen.
10:34Who do we think Out of James and Amol
10:36would work best alongside those two traitors?
10:39I'm going to say that I think James
10:42would come into the turret
10:43and try and be part of the group
10:47and really hold the group together.
10:49I have a feeling, Amol,
10:51because he was so convinced on Richard
10:53and was very open about it,
10:55it would be very hard for him
10:56to now go back into the castle
10:58and say,
10:59yeah, I don't really think it's him.
11:01But so did James.
11:02I mean, he said it to his face.
11:04And at least Amol actually said
11:06he wanted to be a traitor, didn't he?
11:08Yeah, true.
11:08So he's got that in his soul,
11:11whereas I'm not sure James has.
11:13I can't imagine James with the green cloak on,
11:16but I just feel like that's the way it's going.
11:18How do we think the other players
11:20are going to react to James or Amol being murdered?
11:22Because obviously, we can't forget,
11:24they've got no idea what's happening here.
11:25They have no idea.
11:26They've heard the sort of thing about
11:28maybe the traitors' line-up isn't complete,
11:29but they don't really know what that means yet.
11:31So tomorrow morning,
11:32either James or Amol are not going to walk in.
11:34And how do we think the group
11:35are going to react, Rachel,
11:36to one of those two being murdered?
11:38I think initially,
11:39they're going to all directly look at Richard.
11:41I think it's going to be,
11:42and then it'll slightly throughout the day,
11:44that'll start to move around
11:46and they'll kind of misdirect,
11:48I think, the attention.
11:49So I think initially,
11:50it'll be like a Harriet moment.
11:53You know, Harriet going,
11:53it was me at breakfast,
11:55it was definitely me.
11:56And I didn't go home that night
11:57because there was a lot of chatter
11:58throughout the day.
11:59So I think they have their work cut out for them,
12:01but I think they're going to do it.
12:02A lot can happen in a day, can't they?
12:03Oh my goodness,
12:04one day is like three weeks in there
12:05where so much can happen.
12:06So yeah,
12:07I think initially,
12:08it will be all the hate on Richard,
12:09but I think it'll move.
12:10Well, we've touched on Richard's slip-up
12:12and we will continue to
12:13because it's probably the craziest thing
12:15that's happened in the history of Traitors,
12:17certainly to kick off a series.
12:19We can't get enough of it,
12:20so let's have another reminder.
12:22What are you?
12:23Traitor.
12:29You're what?
12:30Traitor.
12:31He's a traitor.
12:32Are you?
12:33Yeah.
12:34Right.
12:37What's the point of being in the game
12:39if you're not?
12:40You know?
12:41Right.
12:42Okay.
12:43It's an interesting angle.
12:45Yeah.
12:47It's a lot of nervous love.
12:50It's just amazing.
12:51It's phenomenal.
12:51A room full of people
12:52who are normally quite loud
12:54and extroverted
12:55all go completely silent
12:57because you just think,
12:58does he know where he is?
13:00Yeah.
13:01But they all know he's clever.
13:02He's a very, very clever man.
13:04Yeah.
13:04So, yeah, I think he's going to get away with it.
13:06But that moment as well,
13:07I'd say there's like a split second
13:09where when Joe's looking at him
13:11and says,
13:12oh, what are you?
13:13And he says,
13:13oh, I'm a traitor.
13:14There's a moment afterwards
13:16where he just needs to laugh and go,
13:18I'm joking.
13:19Yes.
13:19Just say,
13:20oh, obviously,
13:20yeah, it's a joke.
13:21And then that would have been absolutely fine.
13:23Yeah, like I did it with Rhys.
13:24Yeah.
13:25As soon as we left Trader's Pick,
13:26he says, are you a traitor?
13:27And I says, yeah, big, fat, dirty one.
13:29And I got away.
13:30You know, I hid behind the sarcasm.
13:31Yeah.
13:32I think he's going to hide behind his humour.
13:33We will see.
13:34Let's try and get inside Richard's brain here, though.
13:36Kat, why do you think Richard did that?
13:38Because he didn't do it as a joke
13:40because then he just carried on.
13:42He backed it up, didn't he?
13:43I think the moment after Claudia taps you,
13:47you just panic.
13:48That gap between finding out
13:50who your fellow traitors are,
13:52you're just a bit like a deer in headlights
13:55because you don't know who to look at.
13:58Like, just to be like,
13:59who am I in this with?
14:01So you're just kind of panicking.
14:02So I think he was just, again,
14:05really happy to have been picked.
14:07So then when he was asked,
14:09he just sort of said it
14:10and then realised,
14:12oh, I'm not supposed to do this.
14:13And I think, honestly,
14:14that time where you just don't know
14:16who your fellow traitors are,
14:17you're just, like, so nervous.
14:20I remember just walking around going,
14:22oh, my God, oh, my God,
14:22everyone thinks it's me.
14:23But I noticed that you at no point
14:25told anyone you were a traitor at that moment.
14:27No, I didn't.
14:28I didn't tell anybody that I was.
14:29But I think he was just excited.
14:31You know, he's got his lovely little scarf on
14:34and he was just drinking his drink
14:35and he just probably just got ahead of himself.
14:38So he was super ahead of himself.
14:39He got to a round table.
14:43He fast-forwarded the whole show.
14:45But when he first gets to the turret as well,
14:47you can tell how excited he is.
14:49He's juddering up and down.
14:50Like, he's like,
14:51like, so excited.
14:53I can't believe you're playing this game
14:56that you've been saying you're a traitor.
14:58You are mad.
14:59It is Richard.
15:01It's just so wild.
15:02He was saying,
15:03I'm a traitor.
15:04And he actually is.
15:06Oh, he's just going to have the best time
15:07and I just want him to do so well.
15:10Oh, look.
15:11He's there for a good time,
15:12not a long time.
15:12Good time.
15:14It might be a long time.
15:16I don't know.
15:16It might be.
15:17Even if you're a faithful in that moment afterwards,
15:19you don't know how to be.
15:20I can remember Claire saying,
15:21oh, you just overreacted.
15:23It's like, you're trying not to overreact.
15:25You're trying to sort of be nothing
15:27but also be something
15:29when people smile at you.
15:30It's a weird time
15:31and maybe you just thought,
15:32ah, just bluff it out.
15:34Kate, what do you think Richard needs to do now
15:36to convince people that he is a faithful?
15:38Okay, so the two people,
15:41one of which will be murdered,
15:43both named him as a potential traitor
15:46in their minds.
15:47So what he's got to do
15:48when he goes into breakfast
15:49is he's got to go,
15:51well, obviously it's not me
15:52because that's so obvious
15:53to murder somebody that accused me.
15:56Yeah.
15:56You know, I think that's the first thing
15:58that he's got to make people think
15:59it's too obvious,
16:00which worked quite well for Jonathan
16:02for a while, didn't it?
16:03Mm-hmm.
16:04And just say, it's too obvious,
16:05it's too obvious.
16:07And I think people,
16:08they're already willing to be dissuaded
16:12that it's him.
16:13And there's a lot of warmth for him anyway,
16:15isn't there?
16:16And so I think he should do that
16:18and then just say,
16:19I feel like such an idiot,
16:21I've really put myself in the frame,
16:22but I'm not a traitor.
16:24Well, we should talk about Maya
16:25because I think Richard's going to grab
16:27a lot of the headlines
16:28from this first episode,
16:29but...
16:30Oh, she's amazing.
16:31What sort of traitor
16:31do we think Maya's going to be, Kat?
16:33Oh, a brilliant one.
16:35I think she's similar to me.
16:39In many ways.
16:40I think she'll be cool, calm and collected.
16:43I don't think people will think it's her.
16:46And I reckon she'll just be able to kind of,
16:48as long as there's other things going on,
16:51there might, maybe there will be a few people
16:53that are like,
16:54you know, we've never thought of Maya
16:56because that just will always happen.
16:57There will be somebody that goes,
16:59guys, maybe we should look at
17:00some other personality types
17:01as well as the louder ones.
17:03And I think hosting things
17:04always have to come up with things on a whim.
17:06Things can happen randomly
17:06and you have to be able to just riff,
17:08like, automatically.
17:09So I think she will be a really good one
17:12and I think we'll get along with everybody
17:15and that will help her stay under the radar.
17:19The only good thing about Maya
17:20is that she's in a position now
17:22where the heat is way off her.
17:24Yes.
17:24So, you know, Richard could go
17:26if they picked Amal or whoever,
17:28then they could go before anybody looks at her.
17:32But I agree with you.
17:33But didn't actually, at the end,
17:34didn't a few people in that room say,
17:36wouldn't Maya be a great traitor?
17:38Yeah, there was a bit of discussion around it, yeah.
17:40Telling whose name hasn't come up at all, Maya.
17:42Bye, guys.
17:43Good night.
17:44She'd be a great traitor.
17:45She'd be an amazing traitor.
17:48I think there's just so much happening
17:49with Richard right now.
17:51That's backburning.
17:52That's on the backburning for everyone.
17:54It's all dependent on
17:56how much people know of each other
17:58and their work and what they do.
18:01I think if people kind of already know her,
18:04maybe they'd think, oh, she'd be great.
18:05Or maybe some people would,
18:06maybe don't have that mindset
18:09that would think she'd be good at lying.
18:10But I just think, I just saw her and I thought,
18:13that would be a brilliant pick
18:14because we've never seen like a host of some sort
18:17kind of be that and do that.
18:18So I think for us Gen Z-ers,
18:23I would have just automatically picked her.
18:25Whereas people from...
18:27Yeah, I know, us Gen Z-ers, we were like, you guys.
18:30When she was picked, I think she was like,
18:32here we go.
18:32I'm a traitor.
18:34I know how I'm going to start the game.
18:35It's all going to go in my mind,
18:36how it's supposed to go.
18:38And then Richard did that.
18:39The moment where she saw that Richard was also a traitor,
18:42and she's obviously like,
18:43right, well, I don't know where we're going to go from here.
18:45One of my favourite moments was actually
18:46when Maya called Richard doggy.
18:48Yeah.
18:50Again, you never know what's going to happen.
18:52Yeah.
18:53Like, mental.
18:53No one could have predicted that.
18:55You're an actor.
18:56Practice those lines tonight
18:57and get in there and adapt to that role.
19:00I am not a traitor.
19:01I am not a traitor.
19:02I'm not a traitor.
19:03You can do it.
19:04I believe in you.
19:04No shame in just, you know,
19:06thinking of me as a pet.
19:07If you have to...
19:09Down.
19:09Down, boy.
19:10Down, boy.
19:11All right, doggy, let's go.
19:12All right, woof.
19:15Clearly a very unlikely pairing.
19:17A brilliant pairing.
19:18Yeah.
19:18You two work together so well as traitors, obviously.
19:21We saw the result.
19:22How do you think they're going to be able to work together
19:24moving forward?
19:25Well, I used to call him doggy.
19:29I'm supposed to go woof now.
19:31Oh, sorry.
19:32Woof.
19:32Thank you.
19:33Do you know what?
19:34Well, I think they're going to work really well
19:35and I think it takes different characters
19:37because if you have people that are too similar in there,
19:40they both want the same thing,
19:41then you're going to get maybe very competitive
19:43within the turret
19:44and you don't need competition in that turret
19:46and I think Richard, yes,
19:49should definitely lean into that kind of crazier.
19:51I'm enjoying myself.
19:52Listen, you know,
19:53I slipped up on the first den and made a joke.
19:55It didn't go down well.
19:56I might as well just enjoy myself
19:57and that'll help Maya
19:58because that'll maybe take a wee bit of distraction off her
20:01and I think she's a lot more strategic
20:02than what he is.
20:04Yes.
20:04So I think that's a really nice parent.
20:07Yeah, I would agree.
20:08I think one of the reasons that we worked well together
20:11is because we were very different in our approaches.
20:16Rachel knew what she was doing.
20:18I didn't.
20:19He was nice and I wasn't.
20:21But I think that does seem to work well
20:24and I think yourself and Fiona
20:27were two very kind of strong-minded women
20:31and I think that is why we had the fireworks we had.
20:35I think because you were both very similar
20:37in your approach in the turret
20:39and I think that can cause clashes.
20:41I don't see that happening with Richard and Maya.
20:44Now, I think it's time we talk about
20:45the other players in the game,
20:46many, many other brilliant players.
20:48who's standing out as favourites?
20:50I think that Miranda's going to be brilliant.
20:52So much fun to watch.
20:54I just think she'll be amazing.
20:56Ramos and Rob are just brilliant pairing anyway.
20:59Yes.
20:59They're going to be fantastic.
21:02I mean, Michael Sheen, I obviously adore.
21:04I can't wait to see him, you know,
21:07open up and go for it.
21:09I've been on judging panels with him.
21:10I come in absolutely clear about who I want to vote for.
21:14He does his fantastic sort of Shakespearean soliloquy
21:17and go, whatever he said.
21:19You know, so I just think he's going to be amazing
21:22around the round table.
21:24There's some dark horses out there
21:26and there's some smart people,
21:27but I'm hoping that whilst there's a lot of them,
21:30I can just become the curtains.
21:35What about the rest of you?
21:36Who are we enjoying?
21:36I love Sebastian Croft.
21:38Love Bella Ramsey.
21:40Like, I think these people are maybe people
21:42that we've not seen so much
21:43in, like, a kind of reality format capacity
21:47and it's going to be lovely to see them,
21:50who they are as people.
21:52And I'm just obsessed with James Blunt
21:55being in this game.
21:56I think it's absolutely bonkers crazy.
21:59Yeah.
22:01I've been a traitor all my life.
22:03I'm the guy who tells everyone that they're beautiful
22:05when they're really, they're not.
22:09I'm concerned about the chafing,
22:11but I have greased my nipples.
22:13Have you?
22:14Yeah.
22:14With what?
22:16I ordered bread and butter this morning
22:18and I used the butter to grease my nipples.
22:20Are you actually serious?
22:21And you didn't.
22:25We kind of know what he's like
22:26in terms of, like, an online persona.
22:28Yes.
22:29But we've not really seen him, like,
22:30in a big way on our screens in quite a while.
22:32So, yeah, I cannot wait to see what energy he brings.
22:34It feels like a lot of them have come
22:36flying out the gate to playing the game.
22:38You said it already feels like
22:39a sort of slightly different tone to your series.
22:42Yeah.
22:42What do you mean by that?
22:43Do you mean that they're sort of,
22:45they've come in hard to play the game very quickly?
22:47When we went in, we were just like,
22:49la, la, la, la, la, this is so fun.
22:51Ooh, look at this in the castle.
22:53And then they've come in like,
22:56this is the castle.
22:57Yeah.
22:57Whereas we just were like,
22:59we just, this is just a really fun game.
23:01This is just going to be brilliant.
23:02And like, we just, it was, it was very silly.
23:05And I think, I think this season is like,
23:07no, I'm going to find out who these traitors are.
23:10And I'm going to, I probably,
23:11they probably saw our season and thought,
23:13we need to do a better job than the faithful.
23:15For those terrible faithful.
23:17We need to catch on within seven episodes.
23:19They were just awful.
23:20We need to lock in now, everybody.
23:21So I think that's why they're all kind of coming in on smoke.
23:24Yeah.
23:25Whereas our season, it was just like,
23:27maybe it's this one.
23:27I don't know.
23:28Maybe it's them.
23:29And then we would just get back to the turret and go,
23:31they're never going to work out.
23:32We were trying, Kat.
23:35I don't know if you were.
23:36We are, I promise you.
23:39I don't know if you were, Kate.
23:41I don't know.
23:42Well, we've got Julie,
23:43who I think has come in to play the game hard.
23:46Like, she's clearly a big fan of the game
23:47and she is desperate to find traitors.
23:49I think the game, like, starts the second you arrive.
23:54It doesn't start when the traitors are picked.
23:57And Julie, I mean, instantly shaking people's hands.
24:00I know.
24:00I'm a huge fan.
24:01I mean, I was almost in tears.
24:03I was like, what a wonderful lady.
24:05Nice to meet you, James.
24:06Julie.
24:09It's lovely to meet you.
24:10Such a big fan.
24:11Thank you.
24:12I've just watched all of industry.
24:13Oh, my God.
24:15All right, Jim.
24:15Nice to meet you, Julie.
24:18I think she shook a couple of people's hands
24:21and then realized she had to do it for everyone.
24:23I would agree, yeah.
24:25Massive fan of your work.
24:26Yeah, yeah, yeah.
24:27Who are you?
24:28What the heck?
24:28What was your name, sorry?
24:30Hello, King Kenny.
24:30I'm a huge fan of you on the YouTube channel.
24:33Oh, I love King Kenny.
24:34He's going to be great.
24:35Isn't he brilliant?
24:36He's going to be so good.
24:37I mean, obviously, he's, like, massive online
24:38and also a professional boxer.
24:40He says his competitiveness is going to help him through the game.
24:43Do you agree with that?
24:44Yeah, he's clued in and he's also white for blood
24:47because he wants to, you know, avenge Nico.
24:49Yeah, and I don't know, you know, because I've watched a lot of their videos
24:55as a group together and Kenny's always the worst liar.
25:00Like, he's never won.
25:02They've played loads of games similar to this show
25:04and he always loses and he's always out first
25:07because he's awful at lying.
25:08But that's good because you'll believe him as a faithful.
25:10But that's why I think no one else knows that,
25:13whereas I think our season, people knew of Nico
25:15because he's done grand, crazy videos, right?
25:18But whereas Kenny may be able to fly under the radar
25:21because people don't know him to be a bad liar
25:23or know his role in the group that they're in.
25:25So I think watching him, I'm like, if he, you know,
25:29if he was a traitor, he would be quite bad at it
25:31because he's not good at lying.
25:32But I think that will actually help him.
25:34Well, it depends how much research people have done.
25:36Have done, yeah, exactly.
25:37Because they obviously knew the line-up slightly before they went in.
25:40Maybe Richard E. Grant has been on YouTube
25:42looking at all of Kenny's content.
25:43Maybe.
25:44Or maybe Kenny's content was pre-planned
25:46because he knew he was going on the show
25:48and he wanted people to think he was a bad liar.
25:49He knew years ago and he's been planting this.
25:52Gone back in a time machine and just thought,
25:55I'll kind of play this really badly
25:57and then people will think I'm not good.
25:58We've got Joanne, of course, Joanne McNally,
26:00who is one of the funniest comics on the planet.
26:03I think she's absolutely amazing.
26:04She said she's used to lying to people
26:06because she's on dating apps.
26:08Phenomenal.
26:09Already, I love Reeve Ball!
26:11She's just savage.
26:12She's going to be one of the players
26:13that will go in and go,
26:14I'll say whatever comes into my mouth
26:15and I don't give a hoot.
26:17And even when she was ripping Ramesh to shreds
26:20around the pool table.
26:21Such a good moment.
26:23I just don't think you're a traitor.
26:25I just don't think you have it in you.
26:27Well, look, I'm not,
26:28but I could be if I wanted to be.
26:29I don't think it'd be.
26:30I'd be really good.
26:31I just would, if I was Claudia,
26:32I wouldn't pick you.
26:34Why?
26:34I just don't think she'd trust you with that job.
26:37What does that make?
26:38But why would she not trust me with that job?
26:39I don't know.
26:39It's just a vibe, I guess.
26:41So I trust you complicitly.
26:43Well, what I'm getting from that is
26:45you don't know what the word complicitly means.
26:51I think she's going to be really good.
26:52I think she'll be devious and dangerous.
26:54And she said she'll play it all down,
26:56but I don't know.
26:57I don't know if she's too feisty
26:57to play it all down.
26:58There's a lot of comedians in there.
27:00There's a big comedian contingent.
27:02Do you think them having
27:03a sort of pre-established relationship
27:05is going to help them in any way?
27:07The more you know about people
27:08sometimes hinders you,
27:11you know, because you know what they're like
27:12and you know if they're playing a part.
27:14Yeah.
27:14So I think it might work to their disadvantage.
27:17Well, like you say, Rob and Romesh,
27:19very, very good friends,
27:20work together a lot
27:20and they've already checked in
27:22with each other early doors.
27:23Let's remind ourselves of that moment.
27:27You a Tracer?
27:28No, are you a Tracer?
27:32It's not really resolved much, does it?
27:35Great.
27:36But I do think if you know someone that well,
27:39I think that might be enough
27:40for them to be securely faithful
27:41in each other's eyes.
27:42I do think there will come a point
27:44where they start to think,
27:46surely one of them, surely.
27:48We've obviously got a few actors
27:50in the castle this time round.
27:52We've got Maihalla, we've got Sharon.
27:54How do we think they're going to fare
27:55in the game?
27:56It's tough if you're an actor, isn't it?
27:58Because everybody assumes
27:59you're brilliant at lying.
28:02Yeah.
28:02Michael even mentions it
28:04in the first episode.
28:05You lie for a living.
28:05But then also,
28:06maybe one of the pluses is
28:08people don't really know
28:09their personality as well
28:12as they maybe do
28:13some presenters or comedians
28:16that kind of like
28:17their own personality
28:18merges into things
28:19they might have seen.
28:22so in a way
28:23if they play that well
28:24then that could be
28:25a big advantage I think.
28:27I thought actually
28:28it was really lovely
28:29because
28:31Sharon was
28:32I think
28:32she's very disarming
28:33as a person.
28:35I don't think
28:36she's going to come
28:36under much suspicion
28:37but I think
28:38she could run the risk
28:39of being
28:40one of those people
28:41that the traitors
28:42look at as being
28:43too faithful
28:43and just get rid of her.
28:46but yeah
28:47I think
28:47she had such
28:48a lovely energy
28:48in that first episode
28:49and I'm excited
28:50to see what else
28:51she brings.
28:52Also it feels harsh
28:53to describe actors
28:54as liars I think.
28:55But everybody knows
28:56they inhabit
28:58the personality
28:59of someone else
29:01convincingly.
29:01That's a better way
29:02of putting it.
29:02if they are a traitor
29:03and they're inhabiting
29:05a faithful completely
29:06it might make you
29:07question that.
29:08Particularly if you've
29:09seen them in roles
29:10where you know
29:11they've been devious
29:12or something
29:12you think oh gosh
29:13that colour is.
29:13That's what I was
29:14going to say
29:14sometimes it can also
29:15depend on the role
29:17you best know them for.
29:18If you know them
29:19for playing a role
29:19of somebody
29:20who's really sweet
29:21and unassuming
29:22or really vulnerable
29:23then you will assume
29:24they are that character
29:25which may actually
29:26work in their favour.
29:28I actually find that
29:29actors are terrible liars.
29:31I agree.
29:32Are you lying now?
29:33No!
29:35My character on industry
29:36is pretty hardcore
29:38double crossing
29:39whoever to succeed.
29:41My strategy
29:42is get everyone
29:44to perceive me
29:45as like
29:46doughy-eyed
29:47fun
29:48and maybe
29:48a little naive.
29:50The subliminal messaging
29:51has begun.
29:52We've also got
29:53Sebastian as well
29:54everyone calls him
29:55Bash by the way
29:56that is his nickname.
29:58So how do we think
29:59he's going to fare?
30:00Because obviously
30:01he's an actor
30:02and a musician as well.
30:03He said he's a massive
30:04fan of the show
30:04which he would like
30:05nobody to know.
30:06Yeah.
30:07It's one of those games
30:08where you kind of have to
30:09fly under the radar
30:10at the beginning
30:10so I'm hoping
30:12that the fact
30:13that I'm maybe
30:14slightly less
30:14well known
30:15or slightly younger
30:17means people will
30:18have like
30:19less of an expectation
30:20from me
30:20and that is great.
30:22It shows that
30:23he's got that
30:23calculating part
30:25in him
30:25that even though
30:26he's come across
30:27as extremely sweet
30:28in this first episode
30:29and really really lovely
30:31he does have
30:32he's still very much
30:33in game mode
30:34right?
30:34He's not just like
30:35he's still thinking
30:36but how do I play this
30:38so I've got
30:39the best chance
30:41of getting further ahead?
30:42I think that
30:42I made the mistake
30:43I remember walking in
30:44and I would tell
30:45like I told David
30:46and Nico
30:46I've watched every single
30:47season of every single show
30:48I know everything
30:49about the show
30:49and I remember walking
30:50away going
30:51what on earth
30:51did I tell everybody that?
30:52I should have just
30:53kept my mouth shut
30:54nobody needs to know that
30:55so the fact that he's
30:55gone in and gone
30:56I'm a massive fan
30:58but I'm just going to
30:58act like I'm not
30:59and I don't really know
31:00how it works
31:01I think it just
31:01makes so much sense.
31:02Someone else who's
31:03a big fan of the show
31:04of course is
31:05Miranda Hart
31:06how do we think
31:07Miranda's going to fare
31:08because can I just say
31:09it's so exciting
31:10to see Miranda
31:11back on telly
31:11it's been a while
31:12since we've seen her
31:13on something
31:13so I mean
31:14immediately
31:15I'm back in
31:16I'm like
31:17oh great
31:17Miranda's here
31:18it feels like
31:18she's never been away
31:19but how do we think
31:20she's going to get on
31:21in the game?
31:21This is what's frustrating
31:22that it's not
31:23viewer voting involved
31:24because I just think
31:26the viewers
31:26will just think
31:27oh my god
31:28we love you
31:29you're so fabulous
31:29you're so funny
31:31we don't want you to go
31:32and then you think
31:33oh but I don't know
31:34how she'll be at the game
31:36you know
31:36because she is so lovely
31:38I think
31:39but that can be a massive advantage
31:41being totally lovable
31:42and warm
31:43and people want her around
31:44I think her social game
31:45will be really strong
31:46and she's a powerful presence
31:48and her one-liners
31:49just crack me up
31:50I absolutely believe
31:52I'm a psychological sleuth
31:53Ms. Marple's in the house
31:54I was like
31:55you're actually on the train
31:56to do your first mission
31:56focus Miranda
31:57I felt very excited
31:59and desperate for a wee
32:01you're in an environment
32:02which is completely
32:03alien to you
32:05having people in there
32:07that keep you
32:09kind of sane
32:10and at least
32:10you know
32:10you want to see
32:11you know
32:12every day
32:13I think that can influence
32:14your decision making
32:15at the round table as well
32:16so if she's got
32:18a really good social game
32:19you know
32:20it could work in her favour
32:22well we've touched on the suspicion
32:24on Richard already
32:25of course
32:26it's hard not to
32:27it's hard not to
32:28but there are other players
32:29with other suspicions already
32:32you got the hat
32:33yeah yeah
32:34we're talking of the hat
32:35killed in plain sight
32:37do you think
32:38by who
32:38wait what
32:39by Bella
32:41interesting
32:41no
32:43just had my arm
32:44rubbed it
32:44it's so cold
32:45just rubbed me on the arm
32:46who did
32:46a man
32:47came up and rubbed you
32:48just did rub me on the arm
32:51I'm just going to go
32:52and ask her
32:56fight
32:56fight
32:59did you just rub me on the arm like that
33:01because you were cold
33:02oh my gosh
33:02what
33:04calm down
33:05we are so paranoid
33:06stop
33:06no
33:07come on
33:08everyone is so paranoid
33:10I'm cold
33:10I'm so paranoid
33:12can you not get it
33:13can you not get it
33:14it's going to be more than a rub on the shoulder
33:16no it can't
33:17it can just be that
33:18oh don't
33:19poor Ross
33:20look obviously
33:21the Richard thing is huge in this episode
33:23but that is my favourite thing that happened in this episode
33:25they should have just murdered him
33:26I need him to stay in for as long as possible
33:28so do I
33:29I love that man
33:30if he's like that
33:32on the daily
33:33yeah
33:33oh it's going to be absolute comedy gold isn't it
33:36it's
33:37the hat thing was funny
33:40I kind of get that one
33:41with the hat on the head
33:42because that would be a funny way to murder someone in plain sight
33:45as soon as he gets rubbed on the arm
33:46and then he turns around
33:47and you know exactly what's happened in his head again
33:49it's phenomenal television
33:51yeah
33:51I think we're going to see him sitting in a single chair by himself
33:55rocking back and forth for the remainder of the series
33:57terrified of anyone approaching him
34:00don't touch me
34:00don't touch me
34:01anyone doing anything to him
34:02looking at him
34:03referencing him
34:04yeah
34:04breathing
34:05what do you mean
34:07good morning
34:07you just killed me
34:10because obviously I understand that paranoia
34:12and you understand it from a faithful perspective
34:14the rest of you will not understand that paranoia
34:17because you never had to have it
34:18no but I think he needs to be very careful
34:20because as a traitor
34:21if you're seeing Ross behave like this
34:24pointing fingers at people who are doing anything
34:26as a traitor
34:27you say
34:29well let's just murder him
34:31because he's accused Leanne
34:32he's accused Bella
34:33I think he's got to be careful
34:34and try and just pull it together
34:37yeah
34:37you know
34:38I mean I follow him around
34:40just quoting Shakespeare
34:41and pouring him Fizzy Rose
34:42I just do all the things
34:44touching his face
34:44yeah touching his face all the time
34:46hi Ross how you doing
34:48back rub Ross
34:51there's also quite a lot of suspicion
34:52around Julie and Joe
34:53getting the shields in the chapel
34:54at the start of the episode
34:56Kat what do you make to that start of the series
34:58I think it was quite a sweet one
35:00it's kind of similar to ours
35:01where you had to sort of dig
35:03for the shield
35:03I think it just is a way to sort of
35:05help start everything off
35:06but I think if that was me
35:09I would have been like
35:09I just think they got the shield guys
35:12the big question
35:14who's getting this?
35:19I am going to give the shield
35:21to the person
35:23who very very desperately
35:24did not want me to end up in the coffin
35:26Joe Lysak
35:28Joe Lysak
35:29come up here
35:31thank you Julie
35:32I think with Julie though
35:34it was quite an interesting call
35:35on her thinking
35:37I thought ooh
35:38because there were two options
35:39weren't there
35:40she could have either been
35:41see I'm really sweet
35:43I'm a team player
35:43because remember the traitors
35:44hadn't been picked at this point
35:45and given it away
35:47but she didn't
35:48she thought no I'm definitely
35:49keeping one for myself
35:50I thought that was a nice move
35:51I thought that was good
35:52I kind of thought okay
35:53that feels like quite solid
35:54decision making
35:55not over generous
35:57because you are scared for yourself
35:58but also nice
36:01we have learnt over the years though
36:03that it's rare that something good
36:05happens in traitors
36:05without consequences
36:06further on down the line
36:08Rachel do we think
36:09there is something more to it
36:10with these shields
36:11do you think there is going to be
36:12a consequence later on
36:13down the line?
36:14no
36:14I think they're overthinking it
36:16I think like Kat said
36:18paranoia exists
36:19as soon as you sit
36:20your bum in the pew
36:21and by giving them something
36:24to ruminate on
36:25you're kind of just
36:27fading into the paranoia
36:28it was just an opening
36:29it's two shields
36:30it's shielding
36:31the most trustworthy player
36:32and I don't think
36:34there's anything else
36:35but when you're in there
36:36you're obviously going to think
36:36there's 1500 things
36:38attached to that
36:38well that's it
36:39like we're obviously
36:40sitting in the safety
36:41of Ed's dank basement
36:42right
36:43but when you're in the castle
36:44yeah
36:45you
36:46anything that happens
36:48is
36:48a potential
36:49suspicious activity
36:51and I think
36:52they probably believe
36:54that the game started
36:54the second they walked
36:55into that chapel
36:56and that something
36:57must be afoot
36:58you know
36:58and then she gave
36:59the other shield to Jo
37:00because Jo was worried
37:01about what would happen
37:02if they voted her
37:03most trustworthy
37:03I love that when Jo said
37:05but what's going to happen
37:06to Julie
37:07could she be murdered
37:08Ramesh goes
37:09win-win
37:10I think that was
37:12strategic by Jo
37:14do you?
37:15yeah
37:16would you not have done that?
37:18like if someone's saying
37:19there's the most trustworthy
37:20and that's a consensus
37:21that this person
37:21is a really lovely person
37:23and then you could go
37:24I could stick up for them here
37:25and he obviously benefited
37:26from that decision
37:27no
37:28I think that was strategic
37:29do you?
37:30I think you're just
37:31more strategic than
37:32everyone here Rachel
37:32I don't know Jo
37:34but I would just be thinking
37:35that's the perfect time
37:35to kind of cement
37:36going we'll look after her
37:37yeah
37:38we played two very
37:39different games
37:41finally we've got to talk
37:43about that mission
37:44what a way to start the series
37:46Ross and James
37:47Blunt obviously
37:48led the charge from the start
37:50let's have a little reminder
37:51four teams
37:53of five people each
37:55two teams
37:56over that side
37:57I'd suggest a near team
37:59and a far team
38:00tallest
38:00go far
38:02shortest
38:02go close
38:03Bella
38:04shortest
38:05go this way
38:08I loved it
38:09I don't think there's ever been
38:10such a clear hierarchy
38:11of missions
38:12at the start of a series
38:13no
38:13and I particularly enjoy
38:14James Blunt going
38:15I suggest this
38:17he was not suggesting
38:18no he was telling them
38:19it was proper army officer stuff
38:21wasn't it
38:21I will gently and politely
38:22suggest in a public school boy way
38:24that you do exactly
38:25what I say
38:26thank you very much
38:27Rachel did anyone else
38:28stand out to you
38:29in this mission
38:29I thought Sebastian
38:30was very good
38:32I thought there was
38:33a lot to be said
38:34for people that stand back
38:35and observe
38:36because it's not always
38:38the loudest people
38:39who are the best players
38:40so I liked when people
38:42were standing back
38:43observing
38:43chipping in
38:44and being team players
38:45and I think that's going to
38:46stand by those people
38:47a lot more than
38:48oh here comes bossy boots again
38:50and you know
38:51they're going to tell us
38:51what to do
38:52I think you really
38:53really need to be
38:54in a fractured team
38:55you need to be a team player
38:56so I thought actually
38:57a lot of the younger ones
38:58were really really strong
38:59in that one
38:59I absolutely love
39:01Gerry Hall
39:01with the crowbar
39:02amazing
39:03since I came playing
39:04is it Cluedo
39:05Gerry Hall
39:05with the crowbar
39:06by the loch
39:08but just like
39:09give me that box
39:10and then straight in
39:12and yeah
39:12we've already had like
39:13a series worth of quotes
39:14from Gerry Hall
39:15in Texas
39:16we are pretty good
39:17with our tools
39:18so I knew all the techniques
39:21beneath this dumb blonde
39:23lies a smart brunette
39:26do we have to share that
39:28presumably
39:29with the group
39:30but then
39:31share what
39:32do you know
39:33you will all bear witness
39:35to what just happened
39:36that he said he was a traitor
39:37but he wanted to be a traitor
39:39so bad
39:40so he's obviously not
39:42phenomenal
39:43obviously a successful mission
39:44can help massively
39:45with team morale
39:47Kat
39:47how will the fact
39:48that they won all the money
39:49for the charity
39:50impact them as a group
39:50going forward
39:51probably they just now know
39:52that they can work
39:53well as a team
39:54together
39:55like as much as
39:56as much as
39:57James and Ross
39:58were really like
40:00intense
40:00yeah
40:01for that type of mission
40:02you kind of needed that
40:03you kind of needed
40:04just someone
40:05to just be like
40:06what do we do
40:06because there's like
40:07boxes everywhere
40:08I would have just been like
40:08I don't really know
40:09where to start
40:10so having someone just say
40:11just go there and go there
40:12is quite helpful
40:13yeah
40:13and I think them seeing that
40:15okay this has actually won us
40:16quite a bit of money
40:17to as a first mission
40:18they're probably like
40:19okay let's know
40:20that we now can work
40:21really well as a team
40:22so then moving forward
40:24we can just put people forward
40:25who strengths lie
40:27in whatever the mission
40:28may be I think
40:28obviously Hannah's
40:30analytical skills
40:30came into play as well
40:31guys guys guys
40:33do it systematically
40:33or you'll miss one
40:34I'm not the strongest
40:35I'm not the fastest
40:37but I am
40:38I am a numbers gal
40:40you shout them out
40:41what they can be then
40:41come on
40:421-8-5
40:43now do 1-5-8
40:44you got it
40:45we've got it
40:46we've got the money
40:47come on come on
40:48do we think her
40:49analytical skills
40:50will be seen by the other
40:51players as a benefit
40:52or do you think
40:52they might come back
40:53to bite her
40:53no I think it's got to
40:55be a benefit hasn't it
40:56benefit to the face
40:57I think the face
40:57will look at her
40:58and think that's
40:59that's a real benefit
41:00yeah
41:00I think the traitors
41:02would be shaking
41:03in their boots
41:04as the game goes on
41:06they might think
41:07she's a bit too
41:08clued in
41:09for us
41:10but that could work
41:11for her disadvantage
41:12for the faithfuls too
41:13yeah you're right
41:14because when someone
41:14can play
41:16five moves ahead
41:17and is good at chess
41:18and is good at
41:19kind of numbers
41:20and figuring out
41:20the votes
41:21and how the table's
41:22made up
41:23they might think
41:24could be your one
41:25here as well
41:26now before we go
41:28I've got something
41:28special for you
41:29if you love the

41:41from those conversations
41:42including whether
41:43they would ideally
41:44like to play the game
41:45as a traitor
41:45or a faithful
41:46here's a sneak peek
41:48of James Acaster
41:49who by the next episode
41:50will either be murdered
41:51or recruited as a traitor
41:53are you already
41:54looking at people
41:55thinking oh yeah
41:56they'd probably
41:57be a faithful
41:58they'd probably
41:58be a traitor
41:59yeah I'd like
42:00I look at Richard
42:01and think
42:02that man is gasping
42:04to be a traitor
42:06absolutely
42:08your friends and family
42:09who love you
42:10and know you the most
42:11when you said
42:11I'm going in
42:12what were their
42:13words of advice
42:14my friend
42:16Ed Gamble
42:18said
42:19I'll see you
42:20in two days
42:23genuinely what I said
42:24see you in two days
42:25so you can imagine
42:26me seeing the end
42:27of episode one
42:28oh
