00:00Just getting to Ellis for a minute, I mean, I would assume he gets the next start out of that.
00:06I heard Paul on the pregame show saying, and he said it with us too, like, this is the opportunity.
00:15Lion's on his way back.
00:17UPL is getting a day off.
00:18This is probably Lion's start if Lion is healthy, but it's not.
00:22You're 26.
00:23You're in your second year in the NHL.
00:25If you would like to keep the job, you have to take it today.
00:28Today is an opportunity.
00:29It doesn't mean there won't be another one coming up, but he said, you know, even if you win and
00:34you're out there and you're pedestrian, and I'm paraphrasing, you're not making Lindy Ruff think about it.
00:41But if you make Lindy Ruff think about it, and I think he did enough yesterday to make him think
00:45about it, to get to overtime, made some big saves to get there, and then to win it.
00:50You gave up two.
00:51That's the best they've done in three games so far.
00:53Why would you turn against that?
00:55It's a fluid situation.
00:58Nobody's locking in.
00:59Lindy Ruff's not locking in on anything.
01:01Nobody's assuming.
01:01It's just like, well, yeah, I guess the default starting goaltender right now is UPL.
01:06But we used three last year, and they're going to play.
01:08So it's there to grab.
01:10And I think he grabbed another start last night.
01:13It felt that way to me anyway.
01:14The Sabres have a really nice goaltending rhythm schedule coming up.
01:20And I'm not talking about the opponents per se.
01:23Let's just take a look at the dates.
01:25They play tomorrow at 7.
01:30Then they don't play again at home.
01:32Then they're home again Saturday at 7.
01:36And then Monday at 1 in the afternoon, which throws people off a little bit because of Columbus Day.
01:41And then they have their first back-to-back.
01:43They go to Montreal, which isn't that far.
01:46But that's Tuesday night.
01:47So you have an afternoon game followed by a night game.
01:50And then the Maple Leafs Thursday.
01:53And then the Canadians both on the road next Saturday.
01:56So it's not like you're crunching games.
01:58You're not two and three nights.
02:00You're not back-to-back nights.
02:02This is, all right, let's see what we got here.
02:04You don't necessarily get yourself in a situation where you are forced to get a goaltender in there because of
02:12workload.
02:13At least it shouldn't be not now in October when everybody's healthy.
02:17We're not talking about injuries or exhaustion, anything like that.
02:21You got your days off.
02:23Get in there.
02:24So if Colton Ellis wants to be the guy or if Lindy Ruff wants to try to see if he
02:28can be the guy,
02:29this is a great time to do it from a schedule standpoint also.
