00:00I think Edward has created a piece of time in the 90s where I really made my name, actually.
00:09But he's also understood that what you do feel here in this show, and it was really true to the
00:17time,
00:18is that it was a real creative community. We all knew each other.
00:23And it was funny, because obviously in the time, you don't think about it in that context,
00:29because you're living it, and you're on to the next thing, and you're not seeing yourself as a community.
00:35I think people are very interested in the 90s at the moment, because it was kind of the last pre
00:39-digital era,
00:40where analogue media had such a big impact on what we saw.
00:44So working with someone like Edward, he really had a significant role in shaping the media that we consumed at
00:49that time.
00:50And it's just not the same now.
00:51You know, with the internet and social media, we don't have that very specific view of culture, either fashion or
00:57art.
00:57So people are interested in it.
00:59Also, it was kind of the last time of anonymity and immersion, and that is definitely seen within the exhibition.
01:05Speaking at a launch event for the 90s art and fashion exhibition at the Tate Britain,
01:11former editor-in-chief of British Vogue, Edward Enninful has said he hopes Prime Minister Andy Burnham
01:18will push the arts more than his predecessors.
01:21The 54-year-old said he believes the current generation of artists has the talent to bring about a similar
01:29cultural renaissance to three decades ago,
01:32but needs the support of government.
01:35Well, it's a constellation, and it comes from, sort of, was inspired by a much larger 24-metre-sized constellation
01:47I made about five years ago.
01:50So this is obviously centred on the 90s.
01:55And you could see it as a sort of autobiographical landscape, in one sense, but also, much more generously, it's
02:05about everyone.
02:06When I think about it, it's very much living your creativity to the full, you know?
02:14And that's what he did, you know, and that's what I do, and that's, I think, was the message of
02:19that time.
02:20If you did not live it to the full, then, you know, that's all we knew.
02:28We were all inspired by each other, right?
02:30And it was kind of the beginning of a research of British film, you know?
02:36And in the culture and the nuances and the diversity of it, right?
02:41And so I've been very fortunate to be a part of a very unique creative community.
02:48We were all attracted to each other because it was a very special time.
02:54And I can say it now, in retrospect, because we were all living our truth.
