00:20Israelis have gathered to commemorate three years since the Hamas-led attack of October 7, 2023,
00:26which killed 1,200 people and saw 251 taken hostage.
00:31A minute of silence started the tribute and families mourned across southern Israel,
00:35including at the Nova Music Festival and Kfar Aza.
00:38This is the first year with no hostages remaining in Gaza.
00:42Former hostage Elkanah Bopot, who was abducted from the Nova Festival and freed last year,
00:47conveyed a message of resilience, saying,
00:49Israelis were in these lands and they will forever be here.
00:53European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen also paid tribute to the victims and their families
00:58in a post on X, saying this kind of unspeakable savagery and terror must never happen again.
01:04Von der Leyen added that the EU is ready to help to turn the fragile ceasefire into a durable peace
01:09based on a two-state solution.
01:11During commemorations, loud explosions could reportedly be heard from Gaza
01:15as a war has been ongoing since 2023 despite an official ceasefire being in place.
01:20Gaza officials said at least two more people were killed overnight.
01:24Commemoration also comes amid continuing divisions over Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's handling of the war
01:29and demands from former hostages and relatives for an inquiry.
01:39From Waterloo, Belgium,
01:41Carlos Puigdemont celebrated the end of the legal proceedings that had prevented him from returning to Spain
01:46but warned that this is not the solution to the independence aspiration of the same in Catalonia.
02:10The leader of Hunsberg, Catalunya, is now able to go back to Spain
02:14after the Supreme Court overturned the arrest warrant that had been in effect against him since 2017.
02:19However, he has ruled out returning for the time being.
02:23Speaking at a press briefing,
02:25the former Catalan president argued that he had decided to go into exile to engage in politics
02:29and that he considered the constitutional court's ruling a rejection of the repression
02:34against some of those responsible for the process.
02:38Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, for his part, welcomed the constitutional court's decision.
02:43Por tanto, respetar la resolución del Tribunal Constitucional
02:56The court's decision paves the way for Prudy Dumont's return nine years after he fled Spain.
03:05The secondary school protests on Tuesday across France
03:09drew 256,000 people nationwide, according to the Ministry of the Interior.
03:15Secondary school and student organizations put the figure at 450,000.
03:21Paris saw the largest procession of demonstrators.
03:46The demonstrators also gathered to condemn the violent excesses
03:51and police brutality that accompanied the protests.
03:54We condemn the police violence, because they are very present.
03:58There have been several hundreds of interpellations,
04:02and there have been a lot of deaths.
04:04And the police violence is too present.
04:07And the response of the government is not quite present.
04:09There are more CRS than the teachers in class.
04:12That's the impression we have, in any case.
04:14Parents, trade unions and teachers were there not only to supervise the younger pupils,
04:19but also to voice their demands.
04:21We have a part of the political class who thinks that what young people think,
04:26their claims are a bit cruel, or they can still have a few years before they announce them.
04:32And no, we think that they have the right to be heard.
04:34Well, it's fair to say that what started out as a protest in the suburbs of Paris has grown into
04:39something far greater.
04:41Today, we saw trade unions march alongside students in the streets of Paris.
04:46The protests were, for the most part, peaceful.
04:50However, later in the day, we did see the first signs of clashes with the police and violence emerge.
04:56Although, at present, the finer details around what really occurred remain to be defined.
05:02It's Stan Nelson-Julian reporting for Euronews from Paris.

06:42This taxi driver has been looking for Phil for two days. He says he's had to get up at four
06:49in the morning to be at this station.
07:10At most stations, customers, some with jerrycans in hand, wait in long lines, hoping to get the much-needed fuel.
07:19Some of the residents at the filling station say they've been waiting since four in the morning.
07:25Some get lucky, others don't.
07:28We don't have any problems in provisioning.
07:34There are no problems in provisioning.
07:38But otherwise, it's frequent in the field.
07:51In the stations with supply, Phil has been rationed and sold at a higher price.

08:14The government attributes the current shortage to major temporary supply disruptions.

08:51Short films bring to life the history of IT equipment development in Hungary and the work of famous Hungarian engineers.
