00:03I was among the candidates for many years, so it was not unexpected, but I wasn't thinking
00:10about, I was working on a proposal, and so, yeah, it's not something I was expecting.
00:19The project I won the prize for is for the development of a new way to do astronomy.
00:30And so astronomers have found for many decades that they can look at the sky in different
00:41colors of light, and even using radio waves and gamma rays.
00:49And so what we have developed is a method to look at the sky in neutrinos.
00:56So it's the first time we look at the universe in some other form than light.
01:04And of course there are gravitational waves, but that's kind of special.
01:08And so this project took almost 40 years to develop.
01:16And so we succeeded in discovering neutrinos that reached us from the cosmos.
01:25And in fact, most of them reached us from outside our own galaxy, which was quite a surprise.
01:34And we discovered them in 2012.
01:39And so I lived long enough to get an Nobel Prize.
01:42So yes.
01:43And so
01:46Grazie a tutti.
