00:04This is a new wearable sensor patch being developed by a joint research team in Japan and one day it
00:10could save your life.
00:11The patch measures cardiac activity via electrocardiogram or ECG.
00:15It also measures respiration, skin temperature and humidity caused by perspiration.
00:20It then sends all of that live data to a smartphone via Bluetooth, which its developers say could eventually be
00:26an early warning system for symptoms related to a number of conditions.
00:29The patch simply sticks to the skin and goes hand in hand with a smartphone app.
00:33The researchers say that the associated machine learning program will continue to get better and be updated as the device
00:39is more widely used.
00:40They add that the app can identify the early signs of heat stress at the moment, with their study identifying
00:45the condition with 80% accuracy.
00:47However, the researchers say it will eventually be able to detect much, much more.
00:51They are currently working on predicting heart arrhythmia, coughing and to identify falls which could leave the user unconscious.
00:57With the project's lead researchers saying,
00:59The significant advance of this study is the integration of multimodal flexible sensors, real-time machine learning data analysis and
01:07remote vital monitoring using a smartphone.
