The Nemesis hypothesis proposed that our Sun might have a distant companion star orbiting far beyond the known planets. Scientists once considered whether such a companion could periodically disturb objects in the distant Oort Cloud and possibly influence comet activity. However, extensive astronomical searches have found no evidence that Nemesis exists. The idea remains a historical scientific hypothesis rather than an established fact. Modern observations provide increasingly detailed information about stars throughout our cosmic neighborhood, making a hidden companion increasingly unlikely. Nevertheless, the Nemesis concept remains fascinating because it demonstrates how scientists develop, test, and eventually challenge ideas about the history and structure of our Solar System.
