00:00And the one that shocked me the most is the Milwaukee Brewers
00:03leading the NLDS against the Padres 2-0.
00:06The Padres asked Mason Miller in Game 2 for six outs.
00:12We got five of them.
00:13Three ninth-inning walks opened the door for the Brewers.
00:17Jackson Shorio had a two-run walk-off single.
00:21And now the Padres, John, need three consecutive wins
00:26to stay alive and keep their season going.
00:28And San Diego had two errors.
00:31Milwaukee had three errors.
00:33Both teams only had five hits.
00:35These first two games have been so close,
00:37but they just have not gone the Padres' way.
00:40Like, what's going on here, John?
00:42What's going on with the Padres?
00:44If you ever thought you could see a well-defensive-played baseball game
00:49with five errors in it, today was the day.
00:53Because, man, some of the catches that were made in this game
00:56by the Brewers and by the Padres were off the charts.
01:00It was a very well-played defensive game with five errors in it.
01:04Again, if that's possible.
01:05Some of those, the scoring is kind of like, eh.
01:07But today's game, and quite frankly, Saturday's game,
01:14is a true indication of sometimes the Padres will find a way to lose.
01:19I don't understand how you could have arguably the best bullpen,
01:24if not one of top five bullpens in baseball,
01:27and in my opinion, the best bullpen remaining,
01:31and make your closer, who's never done it before, get you six outs.
01:37Mason Miller threw 40 pitches.
01:40The other two relief pitchers combined didn't throw 40 pitches.
01:46This was an absolute mismanage by Ruben Leibola,
01:50and the manager today.
01:53Ruben Leibola is the pitching coach.
01:55And Craig Stammen, they dropped the ball on this in so many ways.
01:59And I get it, you want to trust Mason Miller.
02:01You want to trust your guy.
02:02And if you're Mason Miller, you got to come up big in that spot.
02:06You know it's on you.
02:07You know they're not taking you out.
02:09Even if you did, walk the bases loaded.
02:11They didn't get a hit until the game-winning hit
02:14because the coaching staff watched this guy go an extra inning
02:18that he normally doesn't do and walk the bases loaded.
02:23Not like, oh, the last walk the bases.
02:25Every single member on the base pass got there via the walk.
02:31It didn't make any sense as a person watching it from home.
02:35I know.
02:36I love Mason Miller.
02:37I think he's one of the most unenable pitchers in baseball.
02:40But when you get a guy that far out of his depth,
02:43that deep in the water, and he's never been there before,
02:46some guys don't rise to the moment.
02:49Some guys collapse under the pressure.
02:50And today he collapsed under the pressure.
02:53The guy throws a hundred – today he threw a 105-mile-hour fastball
02:57but couldn't throw him from strikes.
03:00It was embarrassing, man.
03:01When they walked the bases loaded, I still had faith
03:04because closer sometimes gets you right up to the edge.
03:07And, yeah, here we are.
03:09And then, John, game one, I mean, obviously game one,
03:14the ball hit the ceiling.
03:15I have never seen a ball hit the roof at that stadium.
03:18When it was Miller Park, now it's American Family Field or whatever.
03:21I've never, ever in my life seen a ball hit that high
03:25to where it hits the roof.
03:26And it happened to the Padres of all teams.
03:29And then they're going to play in your face today
03:31and they're going to let the roof open when you play.
03:34It's just such Padres luck.
03:36I swear.
03:37It's, like, unbelievable how they lost game one.
03:40And then you go into game two and it's, like,
03:42just a completely other devastating way to lose.
03:45And now, John, you're against the wall.
03:47You have to win three in a row.
03:49Which they can't.
03:50Against Milwaukee, they can.
03:52Sure.
03:52Because they easily could have won both these games.
03:55That ball by Ty France would have been a home run.
03:58The play today, Mason Miller normally gets that out.
04:01You still had Jason Adam in the pen.
04:03You still had Mora Hone in the pen.
04:04You still had Musgrove in the pen.
04:06You had a lot of places you can go for a pitcher
04:09in the eighth inning that they didn't do.
04:11So it is what it is.
04:12I still believe that this team can bounce back
04:14from what happened today and win again on Tuesday.
04:18Just like they bounced back from what happened on Saturday
04:21and were in secure position to win the game,
04:23the guy who you give the ball to at the end of the game
04:26just didn't get the job done.
04:27So the Brewers did what they were supposed to do.
04:30They won two home games.
04:32Now it's up to the people of San Diego and Petco Park
04:35to fill that thing up, which I guarantee you they will
04:38because the Brewers don't travel,
04:39be as loud as you possibly can to energize this team
04:42and put some runs on the board.
04:43Because the Brewers are beatable.
04:45They are absolutely beatable.
04:47But when it comes to winning,
04:49this is the thing I will always give the Dodgers credit for
04:51when it comes to baseball.
04:52They find a way to win.
04:55Regardless of what happens on their championship,
04:57their back-to-back championship runs,
04:59they found a way to win.
05:01No matter what happens, they find a way to win.
05:04The Padres in this series and back-to-back days
05:07have found a way to lose.
