00:00And if you're planning to go somewhere during this festive season or the wedding season,
00:04here's bad news for you.
00:05Flight travels are likely to get costier because Indigo has now hiked its fuel surcharge on
00:10all flights.
00:11Indigo Airlines has justified this decision by citing the spike in global air fuel costs.
00:17Indigo says that rising aviation turbine fuel costs are increasing their operational expenses
00:23and therefore it has raised fuel charges on domestic and international flights as ATF
00:28prices continue to soar.
00:30Indigo says it will increase fuel surcharges on both domestic and international routes
00:34as due to rising aviation turbine fuel costs have put pressure on operating expenses.
00:40The airline has revised fuel charges on domestic flights upwards by Rs. 375 to Rs. 1300 depending
00:48on the route you choose to fly on.
00:50For international flights, the increase is even more.
00:53It will range from Rs. 1,000 to Rs. 10,000 according to the airline.
00:57Let me go across to my colleague Amit Bhadwaj who is joining us with more details.
01:01Amit, it's been no secret that the aviation sector has been suffering, has been bleeding
01:05heavily in terms of losses for several months.
01:07This is bad news for those who are looking to plan any for trips during the holiday and
01:12the festive season.
01:13Are other airlines also expected to follow suit, Amit?
01:17You know, these charges which we are looking at have been hiked due to the aviation turbine
01:23fuel costs going up and Indigo is saying that if you look at month to month increase in
01:29the ATF cost, it is nearly 14%.
01:31Now, one clarification that these charges were introduced in April by Indigo and other airlines
01:37in India as well.
01:38And if you look at the rate, for instance, the slab that will impact domestic car flyers
01:44modes in India, earlier this surcharge for 1,000 km to 1,500 km was 600, which will now
01:52be 900 from tonight, the new bookings which will be made from tonight.
01:56And for 1,500 to 2,000 km, the charges were 800, that has been increased to 1,150, so
02:04nearly 350 rupees increase.
02:06And in the next slab as well, there is 350 rupees of increase for all the flights above
02:112,000 km in the domestic sector.
02:14Now, coming to the international sector, you know, the biggest impact that you will see is
02:19rupees 1,000 increase for all flights heading towards Africa.
02:24So it was 5,000 earlier the fuel surcharge, now it has been increased to 6,000.
02:29the North East and East Asia
02:33All right.
