00:05Pedro Sánchez has decided to call early general elections after a weekend of reflection
00:10and following Congress's rejection of the two housing decrees proposed by his administration.
00:16During his address, Sánchez defended his government's record and also acknowledged
00:21mistakes as he directly appealed to citizens to decide the country's future.
00:27The early elections now open a new political battle, with housing set to become one of
00:32the major campaign issues.
00:34I have decided to call an extraordinary minister and ministers this morning to disolver the
00:42general courts and to call some general elections that will be celebrated on the 29th of November
00:48according to the conditions that the law is established.
00:51The decision also comes amid a wave of protests over the housing crisis, with demonstrations
00:57in dozens of cities and encampments continuing in various parts of Spain.
