Bosnia votes as pro-Russian politician looms large over race and stalled EU bid dominate election

Around 3.4 million voters in Bosnia are choosing the three members of the country’s multi-ethnic presidency, lawmakers for the national Parliament, and heads of institutions for the country’s two entities.

00:00Polls opened Sunday in Bosnia's general election where some 3.4 million voters are choosing
00:07three members of the multi-ethnic presidency, national lawmakers and leaders of the country's
00:13two entities. Early reports showed voting was delayed at several polling places due
00:19to problems with new digital voting technology. It's the first time authorities are using
00:24electronic voter identification and ballot scanning to curb vote tampering that undermined
00:30confidence in the past elections. Most of the 75 parties running are organized along ethnic lines.
00:38The Bosniak Nationalist Party of Democratic Action campaigned on keeping Bosnia united,
00:43while many Bosnian Kratz back ethnic parties. Izet Begovic is seeking a third term as president
00:51of the center-right SDA party. The election comes as some leading politicians
00:56stoke the war-era tensions that have kept the small Balkan states divided since the 1992-1995 conflict.
