Who is to blame for the Ravens’ defensive struggles? Bob Haynie questions whether the issues stem from the coaching staff, the players, or a combination of both. He points to Mike Macdonald’s time in Baltimore as a reminder that defensive turnarounds don’t happen overnight, and believes there is still plenty of time for this group to figure things out.

00:00So this defense that we all had high hopes for has underwhelmed.
00:07I mean, they are 2-1, and the offense has two games where they scored over 40
00:12and 34 last week, mixed in a 17-pointer against the Saints.
00:18But Nolan, we all thought, and I don't want to speak for Vinny
00:22because he was waving the flag for mentoring this defense being way better
00:26than they were with Zach Gore last couple of years,
00:30but a slow enough start.
00:32So do we hearken back to Mike McDonald's first few games in 22
00:38where the Ravens were blowing leads to Miami and Buffalo at home
00:42on their way to barely making the playoffs, but they stabilized,
00:48and then the next year were one of the best defenses in the NFL.
00:52Is it a growing pains thing for mentor Anthony Weaver,
00:58or is it more we're putting them in a position to succeed,
01:03and the play calling is on point for the most part.
01:07The players just aren't doing their jobs executing.
01:10As Aaron Rodgers said before last night's game,
01:14players play, coaches coach, or the coaches coaching well enough.
01:19I'll see you then.
01:19Let's get started.
