00:11i just want my sister back april is out there
00:19i could feel it
00:23could you talk about looking at the self because even in an action movie how she sees herself
00:30even as april x says a lot about the character that's a brilliant question i love it actually
00:36no i think the psychology is so important about it because what you say what is the self what is
00:40the ego what is the unconscious and i think she's very conscious of her unconscious in some ways but
00:46in other ways not at all if you look at her behavior and then also seeing uh for me it's
00:51because a lot
00:52of the long-term memory we have is we don't know what's being stored and i just learned maybe you
00:57know this but a deja vu is if a moment that you're experiencing right now accidentally gets stored
01:01in your long-term memory and i think that's fascinating because i think april has way more
01:06of those than probably we experience
01:11you emptied our accounts i got to i want my money back i'll get you the rest i may know
01:21someone
01:21just give me a couple of hours
01:28my sister's missing
01:32so much of memory is like what makes us us is it memory is it the experience is it how
01:37we're raised
01:38is it the people and i think it's an interesting topic to explore well memory is also perception
01:43how we perceive certain moments versus how they actually occur and then memory is the reflection
01:49of that and they teach that obviously the notion of being sorry all that kind of stuff exactly and
01:54then every time you tell a memory how it actually changes the experience because you're telling the
01:58memory which is no longer the experience so that part of the story gets stronger and stronger
02:03where you go further and further from reality which is why people can get so stuck
02:07in their perception of things i know it's my fault something isn't right
02:14where is she april had something special
02:20i keep seeing her everywhere i'm losing my mind
02:27but it's also how they act on these things because the thing is the information and how it's
02:31processed is one thing but how they act and that's the one thing like say with this character
02:36with april x and but also her doppelganger if you will um is that it's basically what is her
02:43instinct versus what is stored memory does that make sense yes and that's exactly what i mean
02:49what are those memories in isolation and do they make us whole and what is consciousness and i think
02:53that's a question we've been asking us for so long and something we're trying to grasp but don't
02:57really understand and i think you really see that between the twins as well because it's
03:01that love and that understanding and easefulness that you can't really pin down but you just feel
03:07and you feel when it's gone and what does that do with a person when you no longer have that
03:12thing
03:12you took for granted
03:24want to tell me why my car just got declined
03:31go on
03:35i had to pay everything back
03:59could you talk about the duality of obviously since they're twins between backs and april because
04:06basically they're two sides of one coin you could talk about it as the id you could talk about it
04:10in
04:10certain ways but just actually like physically manifesting it how did you have to look at it with
04:16both yourself but also look at what connor was doing and that's exactly why you feel when she's
04:21goes missing you really feel that in backs because i think they balance each other out so perfectly she's
04:26so vibrant she's wild but she also really has her shit together and takes care of their life in a
04:31way
04:31that he maybe doesn't as much and i think with her missing he has to step it up in a
04:36lot of ways
04:37take more responsibility be more active steer his own life in a way that she did and he maybe took
04:42for
04:42granted and i think it really dives into that relationship of grief also how do you process a
04:49grief like that and that it's not linear and what does it mean to lose someone you love and
04:55how you how he took so many things she brought to the table for granted and the bickering and those
05:00moments those last moments you don't know that are the last
05:11he tried to run come on guys come on i've got more money on me it's not enough i'm doing
05:20everything
05:20i can i'll do anything how was your little trip to the bacon factory i didn't tell them anything
05:26my sister's missing you got to believe me client sir listen no please wait wait wait wait stop but
05:32it's also sort of that primal animal thing that happens in the back of your head that basically
05:36literally instinct takes over versus uh if you would like uh civilized action you know you just react
05:43yes survival um could you talk about that notion of survival within her because she even doesn't know
05:49sometimes why it's happening it's because i think they were forced to be alone and figure out their
05:56life so early that that survival of we need to get through this and i think that's why she does
06:00what
06:01she does in the movie i don't want to spoil too much but she feels like she has to um
06:06has to make
06:07sure that they're going to be okay and then she acts on survival instead of on her intellect and she
06:12didn't want to do something and then she does do it because she feels like she has to in order
06:18to make
06:18sure they're okay and that talks about your intuition again and you should trust if you feel like you
06:22shouldn't do something don't do it please wait please stop do you think they can't protect you boy
06:30i just want my sister back please don't do this i swear i'll pay you back okay what the hell
06:37is he
06:37talking about his twin sister please just let her go she has nothing to do with this i don't have
06:45your sister
06:49i like what you were talking about intuition because we're also talking about the unconscious
06:53you know how and as an actor you want to prep as much as you can but then you also
06:57want to let
06:58yourself be taken away in the moment could you talk about that for somebody who has studied all
07:03these things obviously as you have but also to let yourself sort of leave lend yourself into the
07:09experience of it you're shooting in romania you're doing all these things can you talk about the balance
07:14of those two worlds of both prepping but on then also just existing in that world i think for
07:20prepping for me i realized it needs to be connected emotionally to an experience and a lot of the
07:25times i do that through journaling as the character with music that triggers certain things for every
07:29single character i have a playlist and then if i put on a song that i journal to when i
07:33character it
07:33triggers something and i think if you emotionally connect and experience something as a character
07:38you feel that in your being and it changes your alchemy and that's what you bring to set and if
07:43you
07:43have that feeling you can let it go because you can trust that you have that to fall back onto
07:48and then that's where the magic and unexpected can happen put yourself together you won't get a second
07:55chance it's you or him
08:06he's mine and that leads to my last question thank you very much the the aspect because she can record
08:12her dream she can see her dreams and what's interesting about dreaming even lucid dreaming is
08:17how where is the control versus the chaos where is your identity versus that which is ethereal
08:22did you talk about that because that's the separation i mean and as an actor you're taking on somebody else's
08:28life it's another dream in a way and i had that even filming i sometimes dreamed as april and i
08:34dreamed things that are not in the movie because she got so into my mind and i think it's so
08:39beautiful
08:39because the subconscious does come up it's the things we don't really process and i think i love
08:43dreams because i'm always like what does that mean what is the message what can i get out of this
08:48and it's the best freaking feeling if you can dream as your character because you learn things about
08:52them that you consciously don't think of and that was so cool during this process to be like oh this
08:58came to me and oh that happened and yeah it's very cool when that happens it doesn't always happen but
09:03but but it influenced the character in many ways you're saying of course like it influences us because
09:08you notice that some things you don't process are more important than you think of
09:12in the moment i'm gonna kill you sweet and simple i like it
09:28you
