00:00It's quite the understatement to simply call Hawaii beautiful.
00:04Not only does the sunny Pacific Island state have perfect weather,
00:08but the geographical features there are second to none.
00:11Be it land or sea, the gorgeous paradise still has plenty of
00:16secrets left to discover. While taking into sights, all you have
00:20to do is look around. While working in his garden on one of the islands,
00:24one Hawaiian man came across a strange object, which
00:27proved just how remarkable some of those secrets can be. When he picked
00:31it up, something miraculous happened.
00:49Simply calling Hawaii one of the most beautiful
00:51places on Earth might be a severe understatement. Aside from the
00:55near-perfect weather and mellow atmosphere, the geographical features
00:59that call the sunny state home are second to none.
01:03Even more remarkable is the abundance of rare land and sea creatures
01:07that make their home in every nook and cranny of the state.
01:11It's no wonder why people love to come to Hawaii to explore and see some of the
01:15area's magnificent flora and fauna.
01:19Recently, while working in his garden, Hawaii resident and Imgur user,
01:24Madaber, came across this fauna firsthand. He was undoubtedly surprised when he spotted
01:30a strange object sitting in a nearby tree trunk. What the heck was that?
01:35The man had been working in his garden in Oahu, Hawaii when he spotted it.
01:39Lifting it up, he got his first look at the strange object hiding just a few inches inside
01:45the hollowed-out bamboo log, so he decided to take a closer look to see what it was.
01:51Familiar with the fauna of Hawaii, Madaber recognized the objects almost instantaneously.
01:58Attached to the surface of the log, and no larger than the size of peas, were roughly a dozen
02:04tiny gecko eggs just waiting to hatch. Geckos commonly hide their eggs this way in order
02:11to protect them from potential threats.
02:14Though a number of the eggs had already been broken open, a handful seemed like they had
02:19yet to hatch. Curious, Madaber picked them up to take a closer look. He wanted to be sure
02:24that they hadn't yet hatched.
02:27Unlike bird eggs, gecko eggs are usually safe to pick up, since parents don't revisit their hatchlings.
02:33Therefore, the scent of humans won't prevent them from caring for their young.
02:38So the man knew that it would be okay to examine them further.
02:43Amazingly, only moments after he picked up a few of the eggs, one of the geckos hatched
02:48right in his hand. Before he knew it, a tiny little lizard was walking around on his fingers.
02:54How's that for experiencing nature up close?
02:58The man decided it would be best to return the baby gecko back to the bamboo log,
03:02which would give him a better chance of finding his siblings.
03:06Looks like the little guy's mom knew what she was doing when she laid her eggs there.
03:11It's unclear which of Hawaii's seven gecko species this little guy was,
03:15but it looked like he was in good hands, literally.
03:19Hopefully he made it back to his siblings, and is now enjoying that beautiful Hawaiian landscape.
03:24It's amazing what you can find in your own backyard.
03:28Better still, Madaber knew exactly what to do in an unusual situation.
03:35All those guys are in good shape.
03:36There's been a really good news.
03:37We'll see you next time.
