00:00Few things ruin a great match faster than an opponent who can see you through a wall.
00:04In Modern Warfare 4, we're introducing a new way to fight back against wallhacks with server culling.
00:09Normally, the server sends and receives player locations to and from game clients,
00:13which meant that even when you couldn't see a player behind a wall,
00:15your game client still received information on that player's location.
00:18It's what enabled wallhacks to see players through walls. Server culling changes that.
00:23Now the server determines when you have no legitimate way of knowing where an opponent is,
00:26and their location data is entirely withheld from your game client.
00:30This is done by building occlusion layers into each map,
00:32which helps the server determine when to withhold that information.
00:35Meaning a wall can now do more than just block your view.
00:38It also prevents an opponent's location data from ever reaching your game client
00:41until that opponent appears in view.
00:43So cheat software can't reveal information it never receives.
00:46For legitimate players, the match plays exactly as intended.
00:49For cheat developers, this creates a major new obstacle.
00:52Server culling will cover every map available at launch for Modern Warfare 4.
00:55This includes DMZ and combat outposts,
00:57as well as new live season maps for multiplayer, DMZ, and Warzone in Season 1 and beyond.
01:02We expect this new system to disturb the cheap marketplace,
01:05but we're not sitting on our hands and continue to strengthen our layer technology.
01:08The fight continues on October 23rd with Modern Warfare 4.
01:11See you there.
