Operating under the fake identity of Nawab Virk, Singh had secured Turkish citizenship while smuggling heroin and other narcotics from Afghanistan to India. Indian agencies tracked him down and unmasked his identity to secure his deportation. Union Home Minister Amit Shah hailed the operation as a historic milestone for the government. The deportation follows a series of recent extraditions of major drug network figures, including Mohammad Salim Dola from Turkey, Virendra Singh Bisoya from the UAE, and Naveen Chichkar from Malaysia, reflecting strengthened cross-border cooperation against international drug syndicates.
