Memories shape who we are, but sometimes they also keep us trapped in versions of life that no longer exist.

This short analysis is inspired by Dark City (1998), a film that explores memory, identity, consciousness, and the fragile line between who we are and who we believe we used to be.

Maybe nostalgia is not only about remembering.

Maybe it is our refusal to accept that some things are gone forever and that life still has to be lived anyway.
