00:00Have you ever secretly wished you had a rock star for a dad?
00:06A Missouri man got the shock of a lifetime
00:09when the king of Yacht Rock, Michael McDonald,
00:11turned out to be his father.
00:12And then I finally said,
00:13are you Michael McDonald?
00:16And he said, yeah, I'm afraid so.
00:20Michael Gasly was adopted as an infant,
00:22something he's known his whole life,
00:23and he told First Alert 4 that he had a lovely childhood.
00:26Thanks to the magic of DNA testing,
00:29a half-brother he knew nothing about materialized
00:31after they both did 23andMe.
00:33One thing led to another,
00:34and Gasly soon found himself on the phone with a biological father,
00:37the Doobie Brothers' own Michael McDonald.
00:40Now, McDonald didn't reveal his star identity at first,
00:44just describing himself to Gasly as a musician
00:46who was going on tour with a planned stop
00:48in his newly found son's hometown of St. Louis.
00:51Gasly quickly put two and two together
00:53and realized his dad is a Grammy winner,
00:55not hard since they look exactly alike.
00:57McDonald and Gasly's biological mom had him
00:59when they were just 14 years old.
01:01McDonald said they'd always wondered about their son
01:03and was happy to know that he had a great life.
01:06You know, the real rock stars in this story for us
01:08are his adopted parents.
01:10They've since met and became close.
01:12Oh, and the fact that they're both named Michael?
01:14Pure coincidence.
01:14Probably obese, only the real real real difference.
01:15We've even seen that in the few days
01:15We'll take a look at the sameめて
01:15We've seen that in the past.
